31. Mullahs said nukes were unislamic.Just like Pakistan.
PETER SM ,   MELBOURNE   (11.09.11)
32. #23 - This is the real thing, man.
Harry Wright ,   UK   (11.09.11)
And let me remind you as well that Israel blew up Saddam's nuclear plant in Osirak so he had a perverted inclination for nukes and was still at war with Iran. It would have surprised nobody if evidence of nuclear activity had been found. Now why ever do you think that it might be a Powell scenario with Iran? This has been in the brew a long time and it's nothing that sprung up yesterday. No Powell is needed to convince anyone. Everyone knows except you. Even some Iranians defend their developing nuclear power and they should know better than you. Come on, you can't be so ill informed as your post indicate.

solomon ,   bklyn   (11.09.11)
The Israeli PM does not collect nor diseminate intelligence. Ever heard of Mosad?
34. #23 peter
solomon ,   bklyn   (11.09.11)
You just saw the show. It wasn't Powell and it wasn't El Baradei either. It was the IAEA under Amano, who did a much more professional job by publishing the truth.
35. What comes after attacking Iran?
esnuffnstl ,   USA   (11.09.11)
It's doubtful there's many left who believe Iran isn't seeking the means to build a nuclear weapon. It's also doubtful sanctions, especially the lackluster ones that will likely pass the UNSC, will stop it. But can an Israeli-led military strike, especially if the US isn't involved, do much to stop it? Or will Iran just rebuild their nuclear program with greater determination (and further underground?) Does Israel plan on attacking Iran every few years as Iran continually rebuilds its nuclear program (all the while telling its people it NEEDS a nuclear program to stop Israel from again attacking?) Madness.
36. DIALOGUE is all you can gain from arabs, plain NATO!
mary of Bethany ,   singapore   (11.09.11)
NATO: No Action Talk Only. dialogue with Tehran? the West talk to Arabs, Israel talk to Arabs, Arabs talk to Arabs... as long as arabs sit at one end of the table, you will have TALK ONLY, no action forever. even if action given, it will stop at any given excuses, see the PA! Iran only deserved Sanction coupled with military action to destroy their plants!
37. #21
Jorge ,   Israel/USA/Argentina   (11.09.11)
I tried being cynical, we have lot of Antisemitic people asking how come they hate us, so I applied same question.
38. IAEA Document
RC ,   USA   (11.09.11)
The big question is will Israel wait for Iran to acquire advanced anti aircraft missiles, and possibly move the nuclear material into civilian areas making it more difficult if not near impossible to take out without world condemnation because of the mass civilian deaths? While Obama and his buddy Sarko pressure the so called liar Netanyahu not to strike with more promises of sanctions that the Mullahs only laugh at, time is ticking away. Some now finally realize that Pakistan is a big problem, but Iran will be much worse. If the Iranian leaders have threatened to wipe out Israel and have the audacity to even threaten the United States, the most powerful military in the world, imagine what those deranged Islamist lunatics will do when they do have nuclear weapons. The Western World had better get this straight; it is not just Israel that will have to deal with this huge threat, even Saudi Arabia will be affected. The leftist Neville Chamberlain like thinkers had better wake up and realize you cannot appease lunatics.
39. The people living in Israel should be careful
Israeli 2   (11.09.11)
not to be hit by the thousands of incoming missles at the same time from Hamas, Hezbolla, Syria and Iran. The government should warn everyone before their offensive on Iran so that no one would be hit until they finish destroying all enemies without mercy.
40. IAEA: Iran developing nuclear arms
yoav ,   israel   (11.09.11)
USA lied bluntly about Iraq many years ago; do we still believe their fabricated reports?! How can the Israeli Gov talk about being the "victim" when they are the only people who bomb other countries "suspicious" facilities and use their military strength to WIN? How can you KILL and attend the funeral weeping? Israelis are living in fear day and night because of their politicians and right wing dreams of taking over the world.
41. The West: first no war, then no sanctions
Joe ,   Canada   (11.09.11)
Having failed to use force when conditions were less risky, the west is now even relenting on more effective sanctions on the fear for economic disruptions resulting from some form of oil embargo. So again, for short term cosmetic stability, the western politicians are sacrificing longer term security by letting a second unstable (like Pakistan) & fanatic regime holding the world hostage in the future with the threat of nuclear weapons & increased influence over the middle East affairs. Not to speak of a possible arms race by fearfull Arab countries. We can also thank the Russians & Chinese for making sure any sanction is toothless as they also rely on short term vision for their sphere of political &/or economic influence in competition with the West. Everyone is eventually liable to bitterly regret not choosing the short term painful way to extinguish the fire before it is becoming a more devastating conflagration.
42. Repeating Israeli Accusations
Jacob Erickson ,   Holon, Israel   (11.09.11)
You know... when an international organization repeats what we said to begin with, that just means we were right to begin with
43. #40 yoav....Do you think that because the..
Mark ,   Lodz, Poland   (11.09.11)
Israeli far left was running the Government of Israel then Iran wouldn't be developing nukes? Toda le El that most Israelis don't think like you
44. Iran has no choice
Peter   (11.09.11)
Look at the whole issue through the eyes of Iran.USA has practically surrounded Iran with their forces in Iraq and Afghanistan. And they noticed that North Korea although defiant against the USA got away unpunished because they have already the bomb. The US more or less have quasi compelled Iran into arming themselves with nukes. They are alone and face the westen world and the sunni Arab states as enemies
45. #40 yoav, #44 peter
solomon ,   bklyn   (11.09.11)
Please explain how a country the size of New Jersey is supposed to "take over the world". You guys have it backwards. It's Iran, with its support for terrorism worldwide (Hezbollah, Hamas, Taliban, Al Qaeda, etc) and its bombings (US Marine barracks, US embassies, Israeli embassy, Jewish cultural center, etc, etc) that has declared war on those now trying to stop them. No one has 'compelled' Iran to get nukes. They have compelled others to defend themselves. Your 'logic' is illogical and twisted.
46. @Solomon
Peter   (11.09.11)
What about Israel itself, Solomon? You should start to worry not only about Iran but about Israel too.Israel has already its nukes.Within 20-30 years the jewish religious zealots constitute the majority in Israel? And then what? Btw: i'm not defending here Iran not at all i just asked you to see it from their point of view But besides that even religious madmen don't want to die so i think the mutual deterrence will work so as it worked between Nato and Warsaw pact There is nothing we can do except war off course
47. #46 peter
solomon ,   bklyn   (11.10.11)
I understand you better now; thanks. My worry is that these religious madmen (moslems, in this case Iranian moslems) don't mind dying. The problem is made worse because those pushing the button will not be those dying; it will be the rank and file. Those pushing the button can afford to be fanatical.
48. @Solomon
Peter   (11.10.11)
I hope your worries will prove to be unnecessary
49. #48 peter
(11.11.11)
Amen v'amen. Peace
50. iran
julie ,   spain   (11.11.11)
iranians are not arabs, different culture and language, and secondly when talk of military action is mentioned I shudder because I have recently been there and the people are wonderful and as we all know they are the ones that will suffer if military action is taken
51. #50 julie
solomon ,   bklyn   (11.11.11)
I am sure that many Iranians are wonderful people. I have met some of them. But many are not. They are the ones supporting Ahmedinajad, screaming for death to [all] the Jews and the destruction of Israel. This seems to come from the shared 'culture' of Islam.
