1. Only crippling nuclear strikes on the facilities will avail.
Noodles ,   Coney Island   (11.09.11)
2. Maybe USA can just buy these bombs
Igor ,   Israel, T"A   (11.09.11)
How much it can be, after all, a few millions dollars? Or maybe, it's possible to trade bombs on something that Iranians need. I don't know, rice, bubble gum, jeans, usual stuff.
3. Wakeup and smell the world war!
Nicola ,   Cape Town, SA   (11.09.11)
Israel, faced with a challenging foe to contend with is now embarking on a path often sought in the last centrury by others, namely, forming a coalition for military action. Eventually, NATO member states will probably capitulate, while at the moment many are still reluctant. Iran, like Israel will for sure be doing the same with the likes of Russia and China who are increasingly getting concerned that this seriously threatens their energy security. Then there are also those far less rational nuclear states such as NK and Pak who could easily contribute tech in a hurry without much quelms. In short, all the makings of a world war following the same patterns as before!!! This should and must remain a conflict between the relevant states only, namely, Israel and Iran. If Iran attacks the US, then and then only should it get directly involved, but this pattern of dragging in the superpowers (ones on opposite ends of the scales) before the war starts is an absolute recipe for global disaster! Say what you may, at the very worse, Iran is currently only an existential threat to Israel, lets not prematurely broaden this threat because it will not prevent anything, but make the outcome far more terrible than they had need to be. If a world war is unavoidable, then so be it, i.e. Iran also attacks US and EU interests, but preempting it in advance is sheer madness if the outcome is the same!
4. As long as it's the Lybian model
sheik rattle & roll ,   USA   (11.09.11)
Let the Eurowimps and Israel fight this one. The US should lend logistical and some naval support, other then that the US should not become the world's policeman, we are a broke nation that could collapse under the weight of debt unless drastic measures are taken such as raising taxes which is a double edge sword when jobs are scarce. The other choice would be to vacate Afghanistan and focus on domestic issues.
5. 90%
Taz Man ,   USA   (11.09.11)
I researched some and found that the geological reports indicate that 90% of Iran is on major earthquake fault lines. Iran has had a long history of them. I'm praying that God will take-care of the problem for Israel (IDF). Hopefully, the earthquakes will just destroy their nuclear sites. As of the days of old...in the Holy Scriptures, God used all sorts of natural phenomena to deal with Israel's enemies'. We'll just have to wait and see. God bless Israel and His Jerusalem (Muslim free)! A Christian Zionist

9. nice idea
Gershon ,   London UK   (11.09.11)
agreed - but Yigal but you must know that the "good guys" of world have absolutely no appetite for war. its 1933-39 all over again with cowardly chamberlains and pathetic petains all over the place. As for the churchill saviours. they tend to appear AFTER the 'peace loving' appeasers of tyranny get us into war and leave the mess they make for others to clear up.
10. War and peace
Mark S ,   London   (11.09.11)
Crippling their nuclear installations is a sideshow. Crippling and toppling the mullah regime must be the priority. They know we're coming, so the element of surprise is lost. They may indeed attack us first. Let's hope and pray that Israel and America have prepared for the worst...
11. to prepare
ale ,   italia   (11.09.11)

13. History lesson:
John ,   Herzliya, Israel   (11.09.11)
This is very similar to Policy of appeasement in Europe in the 30s. Did it prevent from war? No, it didn't. I wonder when UN will call El Baradei to answer some questions.
14. Now the time is UP.....................................
Chris Rettenmoser ,   Bayerisch Gmain Germ   (11.09.11)
As Iran will do ALL it can, NOT to draw the US in, it will be unable to even try to retaliate...Iran is already CHECKMATE !
15. West Bank safe haven for those who live in center...

16. The real culprit:-Mr.Muhammad El-Baradei
Samuel ,   Israel   (11.09.11)
This Muhammad El-Baradei should be tried in an international Court for deceiving the entire world with his false reports. He has been drawing a handsome, fat salary for what?He is nothing more than a scoundrel for his false testimonies in reporting to all the nations. Just imagine his ambition, to rule over Egypt as President.
17. to #11
Igor ,   Israel, T"A   (11.09.11)
Iran doesn't care about "Al Aqsa". Iran, as all other Muslims, perfectly knows that "Al Aqsa" is myth invented by KGB when USSR played with Arafat.
18. reply to anton, turkey no 12
sharon ,   ta,israel   (11.09.11)
you will off-course say like this because you all do not have the guts to face the truth about iran we israelis do & if time comes we keep the courage to face it, we are not like you faceless & without courage,,,, in this case israel is not only defending its people but also the world peace...if iran goes ahead with its plans also you all will be in danger....but it does not matter as you all are heartless people...shame on you & just shut up !!!!
19. Israel has been preparing for years
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (11.09.11)
We always knew this was coming. We learned from the Osirac episode (ten years, was it, we tried a diplomatic solution?), and we learned that the world is an ostrich and that we would probably have to go it alone. Which we did. With great success. Iran is more difficult logistically, but not an insurmountable problem and Israel can bring a great deal of punishment to bear. I will never forget. Israel informed the world of the threat that Iran posed to the Middle East -- and to civilization generally -- and one disbelieving reporter asked Shaul Mofaz how far Israel was willing to go to neutralize the Iranian threat. Mofaz replied "about 2500 kilometers." Well, we warned the world. Now they have the proof. I wonder if we are expected to go it alone this time, too. The United States would be well advised to remember that the Islamic Republic views America as the "Great Satan." Of course, with the current administration, there's no telling, but .... Israel is prepared to go it alone. It would appear that our role is really to be a light unto the nations. We'll fix the world's mistakes. And we know better than to expect a single word of thanks. One of these days, it will start to get tiresome. And when we do tire .... you'll be on your own. We'll protect what is ours, and the rest of the Western world can play Keystone Kops, scrambling to protect what they perceive as "theirs." Good luck with that one. If Somalia, Iraq, Afghanistan, Waziristan, Pakistan, Yemen and Libya are any indication -- the West will have a big problem. Don't turn to us for help. We can't hear you. SPEAK LOUDER!!
20. Militaristic planning
Z ,   Israel   (11.09.11)
One of the central issues facing Israel/west and a war with Iran is the following: If the west were to attack Iran, would they do anything to help Israel when Hezbollah (Lebanon/Syria), Syria, Hamas in Gaza, Islamic Jihad, and most likely militants in the West Bank and Egypt, attack Israel? Realistically, don't count on Western support here as we will be left to deal with the satellite armies that Iran has set up around us. Would Pakistani nukes, dubbed the "Islamic bombs" be used against us? Maybe. And will the west stop these? Who knows. Striking Iran is necessary and a good thing, but what we must prepare for is the fall out of such a strike. Sending our planes to bomb Iran's facilities leaves us vulnerable where it matters most, the heart of Israel. We must have assurances from the West that the threats posed by the Shi'a state's cronies will be quelled along with Iran itself. Without this guarantee, Israel might face a war larger and more deadly with greater risk than anything before in her history. We'd be fighting for our basic survival irrespective of a strike on Iran.

24. To #1 Noodles - The Plan for the Downwinder Dead?
Mark ben Josef ,   USA   (11.09.11)
Check the map. Three proven nuclear weapons powers, with delivery systems, are directly downwind. Do you think they will sit still while millions of their people suffer radiation poisoning? Is Israeli diplomacy that good? With Pakistan? and China? and India?
25. Israel is on the edge of a precipice.
John Prophet   (11.09.11)
Israel has been watching this develop for years. Israel watched all the weapons being smuggled in Lebanon and Gaza, and did nearly nothing to stop it. Israel watched Iran furiously working to build atomics and did not do nearly enough to stop it; all the while hearing Iran and its proxy armies screaming death to Israel. Israel watched here citizens being terrorized by thousands of missiles being launch into her cities and has not done nearly enough to stop it. Israel is watching the whole Middle East being morphed into an Islamic Caliphate and is doing nothing. Israel has shown the evil stalking her that she is hesitant and that her leaders are weak. Now, Israel is on the edge of a precipice. If she continues to do nothing, the forces against her will only pile up and sooner or later crush her. If Israel acts now, there is no knowing if she’ll win, but more delay only makes her enemies stronger. Israel should have dealt with this situation years ago when her enemies were weaker. Quite frankly Israel, it’s better to go down fighting than drown in the inevitable Islamic tsunami.

JUDAH THE LION   (11.09.11)
hope the illegal Al aqsa mosque to be destroyed, by Iran. This war it will not be easy.Thousands of Israelis civilians will be killed and thousands will be wounded, but at the end of the war no Iran will be on the map,and in the meantime keep your muslims in your country and feed them, educate them, house them, give them good job, until one day you will have the same problem Israel is facing from the Arabs.Read history.Israel will be there

30. The bottom line
Israel Israeli ,   Tel Aviv   (11.09.11)
If Israel holds Judea and Samaria as a safe haven for infrastructure, military and civilian population, Israel will easily win a war. Without Judea and Samaria, Israel will cease to exist. The choice is yours.
