The individual proposals were indeed flawed, and could have been corrected. Unfortunately, they were "packaged" as measures targeting the Left. Ideally, such legislation enhances national sovereignty and provides greater transparency to all citizens who are considering donating to a charity or civic association.

A nation that is unable to tolerate constructive criticism is in big trouble in the long run. I think Israel can handle that criticism and improve. It is already a good country. Why can't it be better? Groups like Breaking the Silence are not deligitimizing Israel, only criticizing her.

there is a fine line between critiscism and delegitimisation. these NGOs are a fifth column in Israel - their aim is to damage and weaken Israel and so like any enemy must be removed.
