What an openly foolish ad campaign, lopsided and untrue. The VAST majority of israeli Jews in the US have an astounding commitment to sustaining our Israeli identity in the US: our Hebrew schools would turn this campaign on it's head, making the whole effort look idiotic and a big, fat lie! We have an extremely Strong Israeli identity here: I'm Israeli via my wife: our 8 children celebrate and observe ALL Israeli holidays/remembrance days and speak Hebrew all the time. As an American Jew who grew up in Malden, Massachusetts, where there were signs that read: "NO DOGS OR JEWS ALLOWED", and where anti-semitism was prevalent & strong, unlike the more subdued anti-semitism in America today, though it still exists, the messages from Israel are NOT STRONG ENOUGH! My daughter's music teacher refused to allow her even 1 Channukah song in her public school, stating wrongly, "This is a Christian school. There will be no Channukah songs here!" Another of my daughter's teachers had an ulterior motive when she asked a "friend" of my daughter, "Do you know Emily is a Jew?" I walk to shul 4 miles each way on Shabbos. Countless times men have yelled obscenities at me, seeing my Kippah & Tsittit, announcing unabashedly their hate of Jews! ...Thus ending a blossoming friendship immediately. In 1969, the New York Times listed the names & cities of 10,000 Jews who, because of their ignorance about Judaism & need for spirituality, looked not toward their ancient and immutable Torah, but toward Christianity & the acceptance that is concomitant with assimilation, and had converted to Christianity. There is an excellent book entitled "26 Reasons Why Jews Don't Believe In Jesus". It is meant not to offend Christians, but to teach Jews, so as to prevent the loss of Jewish souls to Christianity. The nation of Israel lives, NOT because of its ignorant secular Jews, not because of assimilated and leftist Jews, but because of Torah observant Jews! I do NOT hate Christians, but I am wary of their 53 missionaries in Israel, while Jews NEVER try to steal away Christians or those of other religious dogma top become Jews. The Israeli Government is not doing enough if anything at all, to eliminate Christian missionaries from our Jewish Holy Land, and to strengthen the souls with Torah knowledge, of Jews who are oblivious to their true, spiritual essence!

Israelis need to come back to Israel...Why? Because when they leave they take their modern thinking, their adventurous and entrepreneurial nature, and their brainpower with them...what that leaves is the mischuganeh Haredim, filthy and nutty leftists making a mess all over Tel Aviv, faux Jews (meaning the Russians and others who come into Israel with phony Jewish papers (the same who are now buying Christmas trees in Israel, which is a relatively new phenomenon) and the lice-infested illegal garbage loitering in the streets of South Tel Aviv. Furthermore, who the heck should listen to US Jews anyway? They were the ones who helped put Obama into the White House, (the same Obama who is causing Israel a heap of tzouris.) What do US Jews know anyway except to eat Chinese tref on Christmas Day? Yes, Israelis should come home because their leaving Israel upsets the balance of power here and therefore Israel (even with its many amazing accomplishments) cannot somehow move into the 21st century, making Israel an even better place to live.

Since I made Aliyah in 2009, I can't count the number of Israelis who have asked me why I as an American Jew decided to make Aliyah to Israel, claiming that they would go in the other direction if they could. These ads aren't going to change these peoples minds and encourage them to come back to Israel. Nor will it encourage American Jews to make Aliyah. Instead, Israel should try positive advertisements backed up by positive actions, not negative advertisements, which seldom work in my opinion. Show ads demonstrating how wonderful it is to live in Israel, not ads showing how bad it is to live in America. Then, take actions to make housing more affordable, lower the cost of living, and make it easier for young people to find jobs, so that people who chose to live in Israel will actually be able to support themselves. That is the most effective way to keep people in Israel, encourage Israelis to come back to Israel, and encourage Aliyah!

Mixing cultures is fine, it does not mean preferring one to the exclusion of the other, it does not mean there is a competition of the two for child's attention. Identifying with your own culture and history is what parents need to convey to their children. Enlightened American or Russian olim to Israel will do fine celebrating christian holidays in a non-religious way in Israel. Multiculturalism is healthy, assimilation is healthy.

Israel is about the only place in the world where your Jewishness is, in fact, questioned. If today there is a rise in intermarriage and an aversion to religious life we have the Haredim to thank for that. I was born and raised a devout Jew and was even a chazan for a time, but I can tell you this - their religion is NOT my religion. I now have an aversion to everything that reeks, even faintly, of their callous and unforgiving dictatorship.

Judaism may be thriving superficially in America, but give it another generation or two and most Jews will be totally assimilated. The situation in France and Britain is even worse. i left israel 15 years ago and my luck turned for good. i don´t understand that one needs to sacrifice himself to israel because one is jew. there is any contract where it says i will be sacrifice myself in name of judaism? in Israel the government piss on its citizen and ask only for do this and that but doesn´t give you anything for it. i´m very happy that i left and if i marry a no jew is because i don´t get in love because of religion, age or money as they want us to believe

As someone who lived in Israel for 10 years and then decided to move back to the US..these adds make me cry because they are right. I constantly worry about these things, maintaining my childrens' Hebrew, trying hard to prevent them from knowing what Christmas or Santa Claus is..but its hard. Very effective adds..make me doubt my decision to come back to the US.

That little kid not knowing its Channukah or not have a menorah in the background is solely the parents fault! Who cares that they live in New Jersey and the parents left Israel in pursuit of a "better life", it is the their job and their job only to ensure their children receive a proper Jewish/Israeli education!! If they don't, it isn't up to Israeli society to give it to them.
