I think you missed Gingrich's point. He said, the Palestinians are an "invented" people who want to destroy Israel. Maybe you are right about the "American people." Perhaps Gingrich would agree. Before America became a melting pot, the earliest Americans might have been a "people." Israel however is a people that goes back many millennia. The Jews, unlike the "Palestinians," are not a human invention or fabrication.

I couldn't see myself voting for this guy but he just happens to be correct with this statement concerning the 'Palestinians'. Palestine, historically has always been a geographic location. Before the creation of Israel, the word almost always referred to the Jews in the area...the Jews of Palestine. It was years later that Arafat adopted the word to label the Arabs who were living in Israel before 1948.
