61. Priest claim G-d talks to them too. Show us a miracle.
Josh   (12.12.11)
Simple Devarim rules here. If one claims it they must show us or we identify them as a false prophet. “I told the soldiers I teach: Love of Israel is not love of the land; it’s love of the people living in the land." Wrong answer. Who teaches love of G-d? Moses didn't stand over the golden calf and preach love of all who stood below, why should we. There should be a devision between good and evil and between choose life and choose death. Although there should be righteous patience, there is nothing that makes loving all ok other than all people becoming good. Certainly we are not required to love what G-d hates Himself. Organized crime should be loved? Cheaters and thieves should be loved? And if we do love them when G-d states He doesn't, where did out loyalty and love of Torah go? Thus where is the righteous judgment between good and evil if we give the same rewards to the evil as we do the good? The reward of love? Is this not what Jesus disciples did? Should we coddle the sinners? Tell them its ok? There is some wisdom in the article but once you mix it with violations of Torah, it looses any savor.
62. Shhhhhhhh.... silenced by Y**********
David ,   Karmiel, Israel   (12.12.11)
63. Abhorrent interview
Pini ,   Beth-el   (12.12.11)
I could destroy every single "argument" one by one, but unfortunately there is no space for that. Let me just give one example of this bigmouth's ramblings. He says Kol Isha is only about concentration during the Shma, but then contradicts himself saying that one is not allowed to listen to woman's voice, while is is allowed to sing. Well, the issue in question is to allow religious soldiers NOT TO BE PRESENT during women's performance, no more than that. And this is what Rav Levanon meant by "it is better to die" than transgress one little halacha, such as this one. Of course, it applies only in cases when the authorities try to coerse religious Jews in abandoning halacha, not when it is a commander's individual decision. Rav Levanon IS right (according to halacha), Dr Hartman is dead wrong. DITTO for the rest of the article.
64. "something missing"
yosef ,   memphis   (12.12.11)
R Hartman is correct about "something missing" and answers his own laments...what is missing is all Jews who have assimilated and respect our Torah no more. But that seems to be the type of humanistic revolution Hartman was pushing for so why is he frustrated?
65. In the Yishuveem in Shomrun and
Robert Haymond ,   Israel/Canada   (12.12.11)
Yehuda, there abides Jews with a purpose. You can see in in their faces, in the way they walk and how they stand. They are religious Zionists. From their ranks come the best of our military. They are the defenders of this land. I have lived amongst them and I know.

68. Harman's Intolerance
daat y ,   Israel   (12.13.11)
For a man who who proclaims how important humanism he has no tolerance for anybody who disagrees with him. He sees the world in black and white.
69. Delightful!!
M.M. van Zuiden ,   Jerusalem, Israel   (12.13.11)
I never read anything from him. What a delightful man. Prophets are always hated and misunderstood. Ad 120, Rabbi Hartman - and never give up or in!
70. I'm happy that this man exists
Leeya Engel ,   Tel Aviv, Israel   (12.13.11)
"I understand the need to belong to the land, but that doesn’t make you a Jew. What makes you a Jew is how you behave on that land."
71. How many actually hear?
Shani ,   San Jose, CA   (12.13.11)
It all comes down to why God gave rules and instructions. Too isolate & insult each other? Or to be as much like Him as possible?
72. Rabbi David Hartman's 80th birthday interview
Jonathan ,   London, UK   (12.14.11)
Well said Rabbi Hartman - we need more voices like yours
73. David Hartman
Yoav ,   Jerusalem   (12.16.11)
I have attended David Hartman's shiurim. Independent thinker and part time Kofer that I am ,I found them to be lacking in real textual knowledge of Torah, and theology. I also read his materials and a good amount of his writings. I asked Hartman if he ever heard of specific texts that any real scholar knows off the bat, and he said no, that made it clear to me. He has an agenda, and truth be damned. Of course there are problems with the religious Zionist education, but at least it is ZIONIST. Zionist can be defined in many ways, I define it as Jews first, and Jews free to live as they please. That's what brought us here. The reform and Haredi sectors teach Galut judaism. As a result we get dirty dealing Haredi politician sacrificing everything for a peace of Talmud and Kugel. We also get the conservative/reform trying to make Israel into San Fransisco, or a spiritual/ideological concubine of the West. These two movements have so much in common, going back to Moses Mendelssohn's book "Al Hatzionut" where he uses the same arguments as the Neturei Karta against the concept of Zionism, only he predated these fringe Chasidim in their anti-zionism by about 200 years. But I digress. Hartman seems obsessed with what other people do with their own lives. Like a true neo-liberal facist of our time, everyone must conform. Sorry "Rabbi" a TRUE liberal accepts the idea that people have the right to live, worship and think as they please, unless they threaten the physical safety of others. If I was mental health professional, I would say his obsession with what other FREE people do is a form of Voyeurism. Him and his pseudo intellectual feminist cult, and his funding from the New Israel Fund are not in Israel to play zionist, they are here to destroy the nuclear family, a main pillar of the Jewish state. Just because the Hartman foundation builds a nice building doesn't mean that there is knowledge residing within. Last point: women and men are different, physically, spiritually, chemically and mentally. Different, not better, not worse just different. Any student of life and science can understand that. Why change what has served our people so well for the past 4000 years. This is arrogance indeed.
74. Wow!
