1. Ehud II the King!
Abraham Nachmias ,   Petach Tikva IL   (12.22.11)
The king of defeatists! For 20 years we have been doing things the way he likes and the results are BAD. How is it possible that we cannot get rid of this person?
2. Mr Barak...
cj ,   paris france   (12.22.11)
If you thinnk the EU is wrong and Israel right, why canĀ“t you be forward and tell them so ? are you a coward ? oh yes you are a lefty therefore a coward. That is the main trait in a lefty.. COWARDICE.Side with the ennemy so as not to be harmed.... I am an European and agree with Mr Lieberman, a man of courage not a turncoat like Livni. Tell the EU to sort out its own mess before meddling in Isarel problems.
3. Irrelevant
Ussishkin ,   Tel Aviv Israel   (12.22.11)
Thanks to the dubious individual who bears the title Foreign Minister, Israel's relations with most of its 'allies' and 'friends' has made Israel irrelevant. Thanks Yvet. Thanks Bibi.Goodbye international respect for Israel.
4. Voellige Zustimmung!
Yael Schlichting ,   Raubling - Germany   (12.22.11)
Sometimes I cannot figure out the ways Barak is thinking. Sometimes I admire him for his mind, sometimes he troubles me for being an intransparent strategist. This time I believe he is just wrong! Israel should sum up the EUs shortcomings on migrants and refugees. It should clearly address, that the EU is causing so many refugee problems and is effectively doing so little to help them (mainly in Africa) It has to take a big share of responsibility for tens of thousands of refugees drowned in the Atlantic Ocean and the Mediterranean Sea..... And with its action, by blaming the victim of the Arab refugee problem only helps keeping it unsolved!
5. Barak is a failed diplomat. Shout keep his mouth shut
Golan ,   modiin   (12.22.11)
Both Barak and Livni conducted diplomacy under the assumption that when appeasing the Arabs falls on its face, Israel can always cowtow to Europe in order to bring the Arabs to reason. They were wrong. Things got so bad that Sharon made a speech where he declared "Israel will not be Czechoslovakia." to much world temper-tantrum (the Czechs however agreed with Sharon.) Eventually Europe behaved itself for a little while.
6. Why is it that every photo I see of Lieberman is so...
Henry from New York ,   USA   (12.22.11)
unflattering? They either make him look cross-eyed, fat-faced or sneaky. I have never seen a nice photo of him.
7. Israel Foreign Ministry
Michael ,   Haifa   (12.22.11)
With our Foreign Ministry being run by an ex nightclub bouncer, why would anybody naively expect the Ministry to professionally practise Diplomacy
8. Organizing concepts..
J.Gad ,   Israel   (12.22.11)
Considering Israel's standing in the International community we have to be more than smart and i guess not just acostume to be right. The UN allows Syria years ago as part of the Security Council. Defense or security in Israel doesnt depends from the manner in which public opinion interpreted europeans leaders comments about Israel. In fact, europeans leaders are as irrelevant to the peace process with palestinians as the Arab League is irrelevant to Obama Barack re-elections vote in the U.S.A. If Israel is not suitable and an excellent democracy as always all ours allies like to said, why should we believe europeans leaders like Sarkozy or Merkel really care about a palestinian state? In 1979 the un vote against Israel saying it was a racist country. Have you ever saw a vote in the UN to expelled Iran because his nuclear programm or because the iranian president comments against Israel? So, yes, considering Israel's standing in foreign affairs we have to be polite. Nice just if is neccesary. :-)
9. Savior or Quisling?
Avramele   (12.22.11)
If the westernEuropeans are anti Semites, if as we are told the US president is our enemy, then who will be Israel's diplomatic patron? If the exercise of raw power is the only indication of strength then Lieberman's Putin worship becomes the logical answer. Vodka anyone?
10. Sad but True!
Jack B. ,   USA   (12.22.11)
The FM is right; The DM is a coward. With that said; Israel will, eventually, sign a seven-year treaty with a leader who becomes the new life-long President of the European Union who will gurantee Israel's safety for its acquiesce on some, long-saught-after, concessions. However, Israel will find that the treaty signed will be to its own detriment ("The time of Jacob's trouble") Although, the upside to the realization that the treaty is signed with pure evil, will be the coming of the long-awaited Messiah to extricate them from this pact with the Devil. God bless Israel; praying for the peace of Jerusalem!
11. Barak is a coward
Rachel ,   US   (12.22.11)
I will side with Lieberman over him any day of the week.
12. I dont see Israel getting involved in EU's domestic affairs!
they should stay out ,   of Israel's   (12.22.11)
13. Irrelevance
Mike Carmel ,   Rishon le Zion   (12.22.11)
No Mr Barak - you are NOT right, you are wrong. And your pal Lieberman is NOT smart in this issue either. In fact he is making Israel irrelevant on the global stage but meanwhile let's just admit that HE himself is irrelevant.
14. Michael, Haifa, I already told you!
Yitz   (12.22.11)
Michael, in your case it's [Israeli MFA] is not "our". You are a resident alien foreigner - I already told you this. Never got an honest reply. Because it's true. Only Ynet serial censorship shields you from facing upto the sad fact that you are an antisemite. (And sadly, Livni does being an abject traitor in many Israelis' view and the worst politician in the country's close to 64 y history. Again, censoring tactics this won't clear this very uncomfortable fact...)
15. As usual Barak is wrong and FM is right.
DT ,   TA Israel   (12.22.11)
PM's worst decision was to make Barak DM and worse still to keep him there
16. Lieberman speaks the truth,
A ,   Belgium   (12.22.11)
and Ehud Barak is first to fling his hands in the air and run around begging to kiss...tush. "Oh no, thats not what we meant". Its absolutely nightmarish to think that this cheese puff is responsible for Israels security
17. barak again
moshon   (12.22.11)
israel hated barak as PM as he was naive to the extreme and paralysed into inaction by the cowardds of the EU and US. He was only brought in as defense minnister as olmert was inhuge trouble with his ignorant peretz and hezbollah war. israel didn't want barak at all. Then with his hestiation on cast lead and dumb paintball gun restriction on the marmora, he is now telling liberman what to say. Calling the EU straight lessens pressure on israel. Pleading wiht the EU only increases the pressure. Even if barak was a good commando in his days, he has been a lousy land general and horrible political leader. And bibi sticks with him when yaalon is 100 times better.
18. The problem is Lieberman is right,always....
Anna M Sedda ,   Rome-Italy   (12.22.11)
19. #3, #7 explain
israel israeli ,   tel aviv   (12.22.11)
How come you guys gang up on Lieberman and support Barak? Ehud Barak is an accused war criminal. This grave accusation was made by none other than Goldstone based on information he received from Shovrim Shtika. Or are you saying that Shovrim Shtika lied to get money from foreigners? Also, a few months ago, Barak was hailing Mubarak and Assad as reasonable leaders that Israel must respect while Lieberman condemned them as dictators. Lieberman deserves some respect for being a visionary, no?
20. Barak and Amira Hass
Arn ,   Yehud, Israel   (12.22.11)
Barak should stick to making money and stop sucking up to Amira Hass. Stabbing the foreign minister in the back for all the world to see only exposes his grossly myopic perceptions and a child's penchant for taking candies from strangers. I still can'\t forgive his readiness to accommodate Clinton and return 99% of the West Bank + East Jerusalem to Arafat. If we didn't have Arafat to save us with his adamant rejections how deep in the proverbial hole do you think Israel would have found herself these days?
21. To # 6
Philip ,   Afula, Israel   (12.22.11)
Its a case of "you get what you see"
22. blasts
COLIN   (12.22.11)
The cowardly groveling barak with his anti Israel quotes is there nobody to demand that this nincompoop shut up
23. People, pease, wise up!
Tom ,   USA   (12.22.11)
Currently the West - the U.S. included - is controlled by the members of the Socialist International. Barak is member of said organization and he represents the views of Obamao-N.Y. Times and the EU Politburo. For the West only leftists are acceptable as negotiating partners: they remember the ovation for Bibi so they try not to be humiliated again. Barak (+Livni) is the torchbearers of the Arabist left: everybody else will be shunned by the socialists. In the long run the voting people will have the final voice: Barak or Lieberman.
24. BARAK AS DM
David ,   New York, NY   (12.22.11)
A very high percentage of reader talkbacks in whatever publication suggests that if an election were held today, Batrak couldn't get himself elected as dog-catcher. Yet he is the defense minister for a nation facing the greatest military/existential threats in the world. This is an incredible and despicable situation which one would think would be found only in a work of FICTION! But sadly, it's a FACT! Ideally, the political process that leads to situations like this would be reverse-engineered so this would NEVER AGAIN happen.
25. Whose side is Barak on?
Brod ,   USA   (12.22.11)
Instead of defending Israel, Barark is defending the AntiSemite EU countries that trash Israel. Lieberaman is right for defending Israel against the dark forces that are harassing Israel and supporting Israel's enemies.
26. Ehud "zero achievements" Barak
Barry   (12.22.11)
Serial deliberate war loser and loser in general.
27. To #1
BG ,   NYC, USA   (12.22.11)
We should get the same rabbis who prayed for Sharon's destruction to do the same regarding Barak. Too many times he has shown himself to be the enemy of the Jewish people worldwide and of the country of Israel. Enough is enough! I also urge anyone who thinks Barak is a disaster to his own people to pray to Hashem to remove him. Perhaps if enough of us pray, Hashem will answer. Barak, prepare to be prayed to death or irreversibvle coma -- merely your just desserts for a completely self-centered traitor.
28. barak-mine your own ministry or
zvi ,   YERUSHALAIM,ISRAEL   (12.26.11)
even better--resign.
29. to michael #7
zvi ,   YERUSHALAIM,ISRAEL   (12.26.11)
are you captain of "Carmelit" ?
30. to Ussishkin #3
zvi ,   yerushalaim   (12.26.11)
The only disrespect we have from the europeans because of shmocks like you. All you do is seating on sderot Rotshild with your dog and having coffee When the rockets from gaza will start falling(g-d forbid) , where you gona run?
