1. The US needs reliable allies too...
sheik rattle & roll ,   USA   (12.26.11)
I don't see any Israeli troops rushing to Afghanistan. I also don't see the Israeli government offering NOT to accept any US aid during the severe economic crisis in the US. The US has it's own foreign policy objectives and we conduct our foreign policy based on our own assessments and we are not going to get into an endless war with Iran for Israel or any other country. If you want to spend billions of dollars and hundreds or thousands of casualties fighting the Iranians for something you can't eventually control go right ahead.
2. If you want to find Obama....search any vacation
Steven Wilson ,   Anchorage, Alaska   (12.26.11)
website and hit Obama. He's guaranteed to be at one of them. If you search for President of the United States......it always comes up....(Out to Lunch)...............or (Do Not Disturb)......( Golfing somewhere)......(Basketball Game, get lost)!!! He has changed the 1600 Pennsylvania address to... Some Place on the Beach, Hawaii. It's another country....We in the United States haven't figured out which one yet. Obamaville???? Who knows.
3. Racism parading as mere chauvinism
Baruch Norman ,   Bat Yam   (12.26.11)
Anyone following the outpourings of this writer will know that she is to all intents and purposes the Jewish Israeli Tea Party all on her own. It's sad that Ynet gives space to these outrageous views. She and Gingrich are inventions of themselves and their hatred of Obama is fundamentally racially driven. These are the great polarisers of our age, they are not to be trusted, for heaven bid should their ilk get their hands on the levers of US political power we might as well all pack our bags and head for the hills or the bomb shelters.
4. Shoula Horiny lives in USA? loves war for Israel
Ron ,   Israel   (12.26.11)
5.  To #1: 27 Obama's policies which endanger Israel
Mladen Andrijasevic ,   Be'er Sheva, Israel   (12.26.11)
Barry Rubin gives 27 ways in which Obama's policies are endangering Israel Here are the first 5 1. His support for the overthrow of the entire Egyptian system, thus inevitably bringing about a situation in which the Egyptians had a government dedicated to Israel’s destruction and to supporting anti-Israel terrorism. He rejected State Department advice to try to limit the damage by changing the leadership and not the entire regime. The idea that the U.S. government didn’t control events is correct; the idea that it couldn’t and didn’t influence them is nonsense. 2. His long engagement with Iran that wasted around two years and emboldened the Tehran regime. This strengthened Iran and its regional influence as forces concluded that the United States feared Iran and dared not confront it or try to stop it. 3. His long engagement with Syria which ended only because of a full-scale revolt there. 4. His closeness to the Turkish regime despite that country’s hostility to Israel. U.S. policy has demoralized the Turkish opposition, persuaded Turkish voters that the regime’s policy had no cost for the country’s international interests, and emboldened the Islamist regime to be more aggressive against both Israel and U.S. interests. 5. His statements that he had no problem with the Muslim Brotherhood being in power in Egypt and the soft line he took toward that organization made it seem to people in that country, and in Tunisia as well, that the United States was endorsing the Brotherhood. This demoralized the moderates and swayed some votes in that direction while also making the Europeans believe they could also deal with the Brotherhood’s. Israel’s warnings that this endangered its security thus have fallen on deaf ears.
6. #1 - Sheik rattle & roll
Devorah   (12.26.11)
Without reminding you that the grant money (much of it in the form of loans on which Israel has never defaulted) given to Israel goes right back into the U.S. military and industry, and without reminding you that the U.S. and Israel share intelligence as well as the joint development of projects such as the Arrow Missile System, and without reminding you that the U.S. has $300 million in military equipment (owned by the U.S.) at six sites in Israel, and without reminding you that the U.S. owns the Dimona Radar Facility in the Negev, and without reminding you of the U.S./Israel corporate exchange program in which each country invests in the other, let me remind you of this: Israel is the front-line and ONLY defense between the U.S. and hostile arab nations in the ME that would like nothing better than to see the U.S. destroyed. Furthermore, Israel can handle the Iranian problem just fine (and save the "Great Satan's" azz in the process) without U.S. interference anyway. I do understand why you feel the way you do. It's all so far away and, as you wrote, there are major problems at home which seem to get worse by the day. I guess it would be like living in Fukushima, Japan (earthquake and tsunami) and giving a crap about political and military problems in the Canary Islands. The perspective is different, right? However, dear Sheik, remember that, as Israel goes, so goes the U.S. and so goes the world.
7.  Shoula Horing misses the main reason
Mladen Andrijasevic ,   Be'er Sheva, Israel   (12.26.11)
In her article Obama isn't good enough Shoula Romano Horing fails to mention one of the main reasons Obama's policies are dangerous. His complete ignorance of the fact that the doctrine of mutually assured destruction is not applicable to Iran can have devastating consequences. There is a blog entirely dedicated to the subject: google "MAD is Dead"
8. #1, when has the US ever fought a war for Israel?
Danny   (12.26.11)
9. #5, the question is what objectives does Obama have?
Danny   (12.26.11)
1) He pretty much installed a Muslim Brotherhood regime in Egypt. 2) He has managed to snatch defeat from a well-earned victory in Iraq 3) He has given the Palestinians a well-built excuse not to even pretend to talk. 4) He has sucked up to the Islamic regime in Turkey 5) He has deepened US dependence on Saudi Arabia The only improvements in the Middle East - the ongoing uprising against Assad - has happened DESPITE Obama.
10. Hey Mr Sheik.US DONT want ANY israel participation in Foreig
Alan ,   SA   (12.26.11)
Invasions etc BECAUSE if Israel is part of a coalition then Muslims will be VERY OFFENDED!! Hence they were kept out of first desert storm coalition. Israel was even told NOT to retaliate even AFTER being hit by those SCUDS.... You shud know better!
11. Obama
Rochel ,   Los Angeles USA   (12.26.11)
Obama's naivety is about to get us involved in WWIII.
12. Israel
michael Pielet ,   israel   (12.26.11)
Israel has to be able to protect itself against all enemies. Israel has to work with the U.S. no matter who occupies the white house. A strong determined Israel will be a force to be reckoned.
13. Romney Gingrich
Josh ,   Israel   (12.26.11)
Ron Paul is against US war in the middle and for helping Israel protect itself. Romney and Gingrich are warmongers, they will bring chaos to the middle east with their war talk.
14. after 3 years......
oded   (12.26.11)
of this poiltical dissater called'obamantion", which is crippled america in every facet, many jwish voters are still convinced(?) that obama is israel's ally and friend. the opposite is the truth. obama is a radical socalist who bleives in the european model , not the american dream. for him, israel is an obstacle , not a springboard. the best day for the ua and israel is nov.8 2012, when he is kicked out of office!
15. OBAMA AGAIN
H ROSEN ,   PA USA   (12.26.11)
Check out the Republican field and you find the 3 leaders: 1) Ron Paul who won't say whether he is an anti semite or not 2) Newt Gingrich who is a money making machine with political connections...and a wife who reincarnates Lady Mabeth 3) Mitt Romney who is an outright liar and changes his positions daily...who won't give a news conference for fear of answering questions. Get real;; Obama will get another 4 years by a landslide...so demonizing him for alledged and unproven anti Israel stances is idiotic
16. No6.. Dont waste too much words on Mr Sheik. He cant understa
Alan ,   SA   (12.26.11)
17. Mr 15, come out!
Robert ,   New Jersey, USA   (12.26.11)
I didn't know there are such deep holes next door in PA. There must ne for someone so deluded as you not to understand the sentiment of this nation. The only way obama (lower case intended, to reflect the stature this loser has in my eyes) can win in 2012 is by attempting to steal the election - or to cancel it...neither of which I would put past him. Please return to your hole. The weather is getting cold and I'd hate for you to catch a brain freeze!
18. #1 sheik $10 dz. in any drug store
BEN JABO ,   ISRAEL   (12.26.11)
Israeli troops aren't a part of NATO, they would have been out of place in Afghanistan, we have enough problems fighting Islamo-Facism at home You keep bellyaching about the money, are you really that dense that you refuse to realize, that by American Law, the vast bulk of the funds must be spent in the USA on American products, creating jobs for Americans? Iran has already threated the USA, saying that it has missiles capable of reaching U.S. bases in the Middle East & Eastern Europe, you're either dumb, deaf or stupid, if you've failed to understand the outright threats Iran is working on rockets capable of reaching your rats nest in the USA, you too are under threat, though you're too dim to realize or acknowledtge it I would bet that since you bellyache so much about money, your avoid paying the IRS what is due them
19. #13 Josh - Don't believe Paul
BEN JABO ,   ISRAEL   (12.26.11)
All of those letters and publications he had signed his name to, he's now saying he didn't know or was unaware of signing them Paul firmly believes in "Fortress America" Isolationism that America practiced before World War 2, it didn't help, America still got shelpped into that war Obama has already brought chaos into the Middle East, incited revolutions in Egypt, Libya, Syria, not only did he incitee also contributed U.S. Military forces to the attack on Libya, without even bothering to find out who the revolutionaires were and he still doesn't know Obama's policy in trying to restrain Iran from pursuing a nuclear bomb is a flop after all of his begging and pleading for Iran to stop their nuclear pursuits Obama is a flop in all of his foreign and domestice financial policies, Unemployment too Four more years of Obama will make Swaziland look like paradise on earth
20. to no. 3
Rick ,   Yakima WA USA   (12.26.11)
This is perhaps the most ridiculous and absurd talkback I have ever seen on this website. Herman Cain who was the darling of theTea Party is the last time I checked a black men .I guess he was singled out and hounded out of the presidential race by racist Obama supporters who could not stand the idea of a black man as president. Drop this racism rant, you and those like you are embarrassing themselves
21. #1.sheik: short memeory of your ilk
Tom ,   USA   (12.26.11)
During the Gulf war Saddam lobbed scud missiles on Israel. When Israel wanted to retaliate, the U.S. asked NOT to do it - lest the Muslims leave the coalition. How is your Kenyan Messiah doing in Iraq? Syria, Libya?
22. #15. H; Unfortunately you're right
Tom ,   USA   (12.26.11)
The republicans are unprepared to fend off the "professional left" smear campaign; Leftists have sophisticated experiences on manipulating the public since 1917. Russia. As a former E. European I am intimately familiar with the Soros-Democracy Alliance financed propaganda war in order to reinstate the Kenyan to smack-down Israel. The "t.friedman"-s of N.Y. Times-Jstreet now in full force to destroy the pro Israeli republicans: "they" did the same during their Bolshevik rule. "They" rooted for the Soviets against Israel during the '67 war in the name "of war against the bourgeois Israeli imperialism".
23. ... more of the same?
P   (12.26.11)
This is brought to us by the same crowd who felt that the failed policies of the GW Bush years were successes. During the 8 years of Bush, the US's prestige and power diminished. It became involved in two unwinnable wars in an area of the world it had little knowledge - though it did have vital interest. These unfunded wars combined with the largest tax cuts, benefiting primarily the wealthiest 5% of the population, in American history, unleashed a tsunami of debt which has made the US largest debtor nation. Furthermore, this debt has made the US totally dependent on a state, China, which abhors the American system. Lastly, on policies specific to Israel, Bush 43 has allowed the rise of the most extreme, most ultra-nationalist, most intransigent, most anti-elements in Israel to reach ascendancy and power. And some want a return to these wonderful days of yesteryear? LOL! Oh, and this is not to say that Obama has been a great president. He is mediocre - at best. Unfortunately, his opposition and predecessor are worse.
24. Realism Please
al from crooklyn ,   israel   (12.26.11)
As a recent oleh chadash, Ive had time to observe Obama's ample failings and wishy washy, try to please all, fail to please many style, home and abroad. But in reality his lack of perceived allegiance to Israel is more cosmetic than actual. It may no doubt reflect a lack of true personal warmth towards a strong Jewish State beyond 67 borders; as opposed to his allegiance with lefty US Jews who swept him into power( from his time in Chicago) and whose hearts bleed for the "disenfranchised minority Arabs" from their warm living rooms. But we as a people need to pay less attention to theater than substance. OBAMA has not changed much from the same US policy in existence for 44 years (and that includes Reagan and Bush, the latter great friend/evangelical who forced elections that brought Hamas to power). Yes, he could have visited Jerusalem or even TLV when he came to Cairo but despite Romney's and Gingrich's tough talk, they are speaking to American Evangelicals more than anyone else. All promise the sun and the moon before an election. Nixon was a rank antisemite but helped Israel in '73, enough to prevent defeat but not too much to destroy the Egyptians, etc. "shalom chaver " Bill Clinton felt our pain and was ready to sell the store to Arafat, "the freedom fighter" . Israel like any sovereign state- more so given its "friendly" neighbors- operates under cold calculation. ( see Pollard, etc.) What makes the US different? - especially given their larger interests. I thought that a persistent desire by Jews to want to be smothered with sweet, empty nothings by the gentile world was a diaspora thing. Apparently not.
25. Make Some TV Commercials
Mark of Lewiston ,   Lewiston, USA   (12.26.11)
Start a PAC and then a SuperPAC and make some ads. Then buy some time on all the TV channels that you can afford, Hire really good lawyers since this is messing in a campaign in another country. Be sure to disguise who you are. Call your SuperPAC something like Americans for an Oil Sodden Aquifer or Americans for Corn Oil, something mom & dad. Form new SuperPacs for each primary state. Be sure to change the name so you don't talk about corn in New Hampshire, or Maple syrup in Florida. And always take up one local Republican issue, like eliminating public schools or repealing child labor laws or elimination the birth control pill. Then funnel the money as directed by your lawyers. A few billion a month should do the trick.
26. Even Bill Clinton admits Obama worst U.S. President ever.
Chaim ,   Israel   (12.26.11)
The author is absolutely correct. Obama got elected solely on media support and his skill in reading a teleprompter. He accomplished nothing notable before becoming president and his presidency is an unmitigated disaster in every way. Obama is not even a true friend of America; let alone Israel. Obamacare is an unconstitutional disaster. The Obama economy is the worst since the Great Depression. Obama's foreign policy is ludicrous. No wonder even Bill Clinton admits Obama is the worst U.S. President ever.
27. Americans for America, not Israel
David ,   San Francisco   (12.26.11)
Israel needs its own better leaders. America is not responsible for Israel's fate, especially when Netentahu has treated his allies so poorly! And pandering to US Jews isn't "courage." On the contrary it is a sneaky and gutless move. Political courage would be to state that Israel was created out of terrorism and to allow the UN to put sanction on Israel until it ends its lust for Palestinian land and blood. That would be courage!
28. A more reliable ally or more reliable slave?
christianpalestinian ,   new york   (12.26.11)
This writer is out of touch from reality.
29. Gingrich "reliable" - that's a joke.
dovid ,   los angeles   (12.26.11)
Who is Shoula Roumano Honig to be given a colum in Yediot? She's a right-wing hack, ex -Israeli living in Kansas (Kasnsas!?), who want to send Israel to war while she sits in comfort throusands of miles away. She's nothing more than another ignorant Obama-hater. And she thinks Newt Gingrich is reliable? Obviously she's not very intelligent.
30. Horing is right
Brod ,   USA   (12.26.11)
Horing is absolutely right on the issues. Romney would be the best for America and Israel. Americans look forward to President Romney who can turn around America's ailing economy and strengthen its national security against the Tsunami of Islamist-Jihadism. Israel will find a true friend and ally in Romney.
