Lori, you would like to share with us jews your point of view on the identity of the Messiah. You see.. for us jews the Messiah has not arrived yet, so whats the point to share something whit you that is not relevant to us? To try to explain that your Messiah it the real one? Or that a guy called Yeshu is the one? is like if somebody will come today and say that a guy called Fred (or any other name) is the salvation of the world. If it doenst fit my jewish beliefs of what the Messiah is going to bring to this world, what is the purpose to sit and talk about it? Jews never tried to impose its beliefs. Never went after anybody to try to convert. Jews respect others beliefs whitout trying to change anybody. Regarding the cultural and religious roots of Yeshu,.. we know his roots.. they are our root till this day. If you Christians woudl have understood his roots probably you would have been jewish today, practicing shabat, Pesach, kashrut, etc..
67. I do repent with all my heart
Juan ,   Berlin   (02.03.12)
Dan, you have it, and not only words, you have my deepest repentance. I really abhor all evil that so-called Christians (weather catholics, evangelicals or whatever) had done onto the blessed Jewish people. As a Spaniard I repent specially for the abominations my people did to the Jews who so peacefully and friendly were living among us. All hate against the Hebrews, and antisemitism it disgusts me. It makes me sick. Not only that but I truly love Jews and blessed them personally and through prayers. May all Christians come to the love to the hebrew people. If you still have a bit time let me tell you that I was not always so fond of the Jews, antisemitism is really strong in this world and in the media. But when my eyes were opened to see what you said in your article: Yeshua ben Yosef was a jew Shaul the apostel and ALL the first disciples were Jews and so on. I realised that I owe them so much and the LORD has never broken his attachment with them. Last but not least. Just one thing, just one small thing not even 10 pounds weight I beg from you. ;-) Would you read without prejudice the Berit HaChadasha. The story of Yeshua and ask your G_d if He is the true Meshiach of your people? Thanks and blessings for so beautiful articles Dan, which invite to love and reconciliation. May G_d bless you above measure. Truly may your life and the life of your family be filled with love. Shalom.
68. Christianity is not just protestants/evangelicals
Me ,   austria   (02.03.12)
A lot of you seem to forget that the biggest denomination is Catholicism and despite it's path wrongdoings, Catholicism decided against mission of the Jews, it even decided that there are two ways go God and one is the jewish way. In addition Catholicism doesn't believe in the 2nd coming of christ and a grand final battle "Harmaggedon". This is an evangelical doctrine. So Catholics do not seek to convert all jews, so Jesus will return. In fact they think his kingdom is spiritual and will not be on earth. So please take note of that. Evangelicals are a fringe group. Some of them are good friends of Israel. But there are many Catholics who hold sympathies towards Israel and Jews too, and they do not seek to convert Jews.
69. Papism is not Judeo-Christian
Brod ,   USA   (02.03.12)
Papism is not Judeo-Christian. The writer correctly points out that Papism changed GOD'S Sabbath from Saturday to Sunday-Pagan Sun worship. Papism mixed Christianity with Paganism. Their ritualism, idolatry, rosary, relics, Mary worship, etc are Pagan. It was Papism that invented AntiSemitism that led to the ravaging of the Holy Land by Papist Crusaders, the Inquisitions and later, the Holocaust. Together with Islamist-Jihadism, they are unrelenting in usurping the Land of Israel from Israel. Ergo, till today, they continue to pressure Israel on their effort to usurp Judea and Samaria from Israel. The person leading the pack is Tony Blair-a Papist. Israel should say NO to the dark forces. Judeo-Christians who keep the false Sabbath Sunday should come out of it as Jesus commands them to do in the Book of Revelation. Those who are faithful to Jesus will hear His voice and will come out of "Babylon" and will keep all of GOD'S Ten Commandments including GOD'S true Sabbath-the Seventh Day of the week-Saturday. (Read the Book of Revelation-the last Book of the Bible and "Unfolding the Revelation (Revised)" by Roy Allan Anderson which can be obtained from Amazon.com).

Cameron ,   USA   (02.03.12)
Enough of this self-indulgent stewing! Your business lies in the here & now with the Muslim kids, not harping on about getting a s... deal from the Christians. Get real with priorities!
73. reply to Lotti [#58]
Dan Calic   (02.04.12)
Lotti, Thank you for your comments. You are indeed correct. Many Christians risked their own lives to save Jews. Your comment is well received and noted. It is not they whom the article is directed at.
74. The Judeo-Christian Divide
William ,   Dallas, TX   (02.07.12)
I understand the gentleman's comments and many of them I totally agree with. However, one comment on the changing of the sabbath from Saturday to Sunday by the Catholic church is wrong. The Christians chose to "meet" congregate on Sunday, the first day of the week, during the first century (this was decided by the original "Christians" who were ALL Jews) due to conflicts with Jewish congregants in the Synogogues.
75. #8 - you've obviously never read much history.
michael redbourn ,   Arad Israel   (04.29.12)
Much of the Torah etc should not be taken literally and were intended to be symbolic. But the Romans kept very precise records, so maybe you should look at the Bible through the eyes of History.
