61. What planet is Meotti on ?
Russ Cogswell ,   Omaha Nebraska   (04.01.12)
There is a great increase in the churches that support Jews and Israel . Americans as a whole stand with Jews more than ever before. People shake my hand off and thank me when they find out I have been to Tzrifin as a Volunteer . Meotti is on too many LSD trips.
62. Christian equals antisemitic
Elad ,   US/Israel   (04.01.12)
Easy, stop offering police and military protection to them when they come to our country. Or, make them pay for our services. Also refute their politicians who use our country as part of their platform.
63. Islam, the terror behind..
Beary White ,   Norway   (04.01.12)
In countires where the priests are educated by the state, the churces will be anti israel. The norwegian main-state-church is not based on faith, but mostly to take care of birth and death -ceremonies. So, christians, who are true believers have left the state-church and joining "free-churches" outside the hypocratic state sharade. The most amazing thing I ever heard was a state-priest visiting a muslim in the main mosk here in Oslo, and she could feel/sense the Holy Ghost!!! I can tell you, what she felt was the devil hanging on to her....there is no holy ghost in a moske, she actually could be killed by saying that on the radio...if an islamic listener heard her..
64. Holy Meotti for this article
Marcus Stein ,   Israel   (04.01.12)
It's one of the most significant article on the Jewish-Christian divide

I'm sorry to disappoint you but, like it or not but 'without Judaism there wouldn't be Christianity. Christianity was born out of Judaism. Jesus (Jehoshua) the Jewish Rabbi, just developed a different kind of Judaism and had many followers who liked this new way. Today you would call them Separatists or Reformers. This means that Christians are in reality Jews who just took a different road from the original Judaism (the Old Testament) and reformed it into the New Testament (the Bible). Sorry to break it to you, but you're a Jew, a reformed Jew, but a Jew! That's where all the hate from Christian churches toward Jews is about. Fear that, as long as Jews are alive, they can claim that Christianity was born out of Judaism and not the other way around. That's why they always tried to force Jews to become Christians (to kill the witness). Now, Muslim hate is something else. They hate G-d. and the world and everybody in between.

Daniel (may G-d be your judge) - that's what your name means in Hebrew, and why should you know that, ignoramus ?!! Your comment smacks of boorishness and thinly disguised Jew-baiting... HO--HUM....

Xtians to be WRONG...they have failed to replace the choosen people...and they will never forgive Israels resurrection...these loosers are DOOMED !
69. True Christians are your friends.
Luiz F Haddad ,   Niteroi, Brazil   (04.01.12)
The refered clerical authorities don't represent our great majority. I think Meotti likes always to disregard Christianism, on showing only shadows, against Israel or Jewish people. He doesn't write anytihing about the good deeds and renewings, since the end of II WW. He ignores II Vatican Council and all dialogues among the last Popes and Roman Rabbinate. But we, Christians, Israelian admirers, however saddened, do hope for a full reconciliation into a better future; when antisemitism will only be remembered like a historical trash.
70. Christians were taught to love Jews and we do
Tony Shiffano ,   Akron USA   (04.01.12)
Listen to me . I had a strict Catholic upbringing . I went to Catholic schools and was an altar bor . I spent a year in the Seminary . We are taught to love and respect our Jewish brothers and sisters . Do not believe this poison above . Christians love and support Jews. When I had problems with Palestinians at the Western Wall the cross hanging from my neck did not stop the Border Police from giving me immediate assistance and being very understanding . Christians and Jews have a natural and very strong bond. ..Shevet achim gam yachad.

72. Required Reading
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (04.01.12)
Everyone should read James Carroll's "Constantine's Sword." It examines the history of Christianity and the Jews. It is a painstakingly researched and honest book, and a painful read. To my mind, the most striking point made by Carroll is that had the Jewish population of Europe been left to the vagaries of natural increase and decrease, the Jewish population in the world would be three hundred million. 300,000,000. We number a little under thirteen million. It all started long ago. The charge of deicide (silly, really, because G-d is divine and immortal and by definition cannot be killed). Blood libel. Then there were the plague years, when blame was placed upon Jews, supposedly for poisoning wells. While it is true that Jews were not as widely affected by the plague, the reason, as Carroll points out, is really quite simple. Jews took baths. The tradition of visiting the mikvah. The Jews were not lice and flea infested and homes were kept vermin-free. No rats; no fleas and lice. No plague. Cometh then the Crusades. More Jews were killed by the Crusaders than Moslems, that's for sure. Entire communities were herded into their synagogues, and the synagogues set alight. And, of course, rather famously, the Inquisition. Pogroms. Everyone knows that six million Jews were slaughtered during the Holocaust. Very few people know what happened to the Jews of Europe for over a thousand years prior to the Holocaust. All of the horrors done in the name of a Jew. And here we are in the year 2012, and surveys have shown that a scary number of people in the United States think that Jews do not believe in G-d, because Jews do not believe in Jesus Christ. Frankly, I don't think the problem will ever end. So I am not at all surprised at what's going on in mainstream churches these days. It's never really gone away; some have simply developed a polished veneer beneath which lurks a jaw-dropping hatred of Jews. The more things change, the more they stay the same.
73. To: No. 69
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (04.01.12)
Where were all those "true Christians" when Jews were being slaughtered like flies? I know that during the Holocaust quite a few stepped up to help the Jewish people. But most -- in fact, the overwhelming majority -- looked the other way. Especially the Vatican. And not only during the war. Do you have any idea how many wanted Nazi war criminals left Europe on the Vatican-inspired and Vatican-run ratline? Do you have any idea how many Vatican passports were issued to wanted Nazi war criminals? Do you? DO YOU? And it's not "Israelian." It's "Israeli." Are you a Lebanonian? No. Please extend a similar courtesy.

Wow. Talk about venom. If people were to give you a wide berth, it would not be for your religion, but for your vitriole. I know many fantasic Jewish people who, thank goodness, do not think the way you do.

77. To: No. 70
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (04.01.12)
So how do you account for the hundreds of millions of Jews that were massacred because of Christian blood libel charges; during the Plague; during the Crusades; during the Inquisition, as a result of pogroms and in the Holocaust? Some "love," eh?
78. If someone does not bless Israel, he is not a christian !
who cares   (04.01.12)
The scriptures tell the ''christians '' to bless Israel hundreds of times....If people choose to curse Israel instead, these people are according to the scriptures no ''christians'' .......
79. #74- soo
Daniel ,   Great Neck, NY   (04.02.12)
What are you talking about???? First, you need to learn how to spell. Once you learn that, take a history lesson. Christians blame Jews for the death of Jesus. First, we were actually blamed for killing him. Now, we are blamed for having the Romans kill him. Pope John Paul apologized, but we all know what they really think.
80. Christians vs. Jews
Chas ,   Iowa USA   (04.02.12)
Can't deny the ugly history of organized so-called "Christianity". But my Christian teaching hold that Jesus Christ died as an atonement for the sins of the whole world. Attempts to blame Jews for the death of Christ are attempts to avoid our own responsibility for sin, and represent spiritual darkness, or at least ignorance of the basis teachings of true Christianity. The vision of John in Revelation shows the dragon (Satan) attempting to consume the woman (Israel) and her child (the Messiah). This will continue through the end of time - so nothing new, right?. The time has been, and is coming again where true rightousness will be demonstrated by helping Jews (as well as others) in trouble. Attempts by organized "Christianity" to curse the Jews reflect the spirit of the true master of these folks, a darkness with Satanic intent.
81. #78...Who has written these scriptures ?
Chris Rettenmoser ,   Bayerisch Gmain Germ   (04.02.12)
YOU ??? I don't care...
82. Churches and "communist" infiltration
Jossi ,   Tel Aviv   (04.02.12)
To begin with the World Council of Churches is since its creation infiltrated by the "former KGB" as many churches too. Read the Mitrokhin Archives and/or search through internet. Many of these so called religious bodies are rotten on top, after so many years of brainwashing. Today they embrace islam out of fear, and appeasement, while rejecting their principle and hating the one country they should love. The members seldomly are aware of the politcs. In this case of boycott and disinvest. it'll create cracks, though not big ones. One thing is sure, the West is consumed, and is cancelling itself rather quickly out of existence, by suicide.
83. Misleading article
sean green ,   pasadena usa   (04.02.12)
those are NOT the largest protestant denominations in the US. The Largest are the Baptists and, Assemblies of God. Both of which are adamantley PRO Israel. Anti-Israel sentiment is limited to New York and LA. Not the majority.
84. Religion is a boycott is it not RIGHT ???
M.S. ,   mpls america   (04.02.12)
I accept in life that religion is a boycott but where does that lead you no where unless you know what divine powers are needed being cynicial is understandable Israel is a lot more to it than it admits thus boycotting it is at times a shallow hollow victory unless you see the bigger picture Jesus adds a twist in life that is hard to deal with so does Islam which adds more hard to deal with things the answer lies often in a secret learned only from certain powers so boycott Israel all you want adding your own $ two 2 cents at this time is a drop in the proverbial bucket RIGHT ??? Thank You... M. S.
85. To Mr's Sarah B
Luiz F Haddad ,   Niteroi, Brazil   (04.02.12)
Mr's Sarah B. Unhappily, your last attitudes about my comments have been aggressive and rude. I don't understand the reason. I may have commited some errors, in English, because it is not my mother language, but I think they don't deserve so much criticism. You know I feel myself shameful about the awful crimes against your people, committed by Christian Churches as a whole; before, during and after II WW. We, real Christians, do repudiate all of it, and do want to erase the refered ugly past. Nevertheless, exactly because I am a friend of Israel, I am legitimated to publicize my good feelings and to make fair proposals, through democratic Ynet. If I hurted you sometime, please, forgive me. I appreciate your sincerity and your firmness, Lady. Never take me as an enemy. Warm Salutes.
86. Mr's Sarah B, I don't understand ........
Luiz F Haddad ,   Niteroi, Brazil   (04.02.12)
your last aggressive texts about me. I have ever respected you and I appreciate your firmness and sincerety. Me and much other renewed Christians do repudiate past attitudes, from our churches, against Jewish people. No doubt about it. Hence, we are legitimated to hope for a better future. And I repeat. If there is, by disgrace, new anti semitic acts into Roman Catholic church, me and many others will immediately frequent another. Don't be angry with me. Finally, I am not Lebanese. I am Brazilian with partial Lebanese roots. I may have committed some errors in English, that is not my mother language, but they don't deserve so much criticism. God bless you and your family. "Gosto muito de vocĂȘ" (I like you very much), in Portuguese.
87. #79 - How often do you use the word, "vitriol"?
Henry from New York ,   USA   (04.02.12)
Criticising another's spelling just makes it look like you don't have a real point to argue from.
88. #77 - Hundreds of millions? Millions, yes, but not hundreds.
Henry from New York ,   USA   (04.02.12)
of millions. What is the source for this number? We might've had 100 million or more today if not for all the things you mentioned, but we've never been so numerous that hundreds of millions of us have been murdered.
89. @Christian , Sweden:
mehrdad ,   germany   (04.02.12)
as a so called christian you and others in sweden should act against a religion which is destroying the oriental christianity instead of bashing the only country in the region where christian numbers grow and they enjoy freedom. JEWS flee from malmö in your country from a muslim mob and you "christian" swedish people have nothing to do then act like modern antisemits! shame on this so called christians.
90. The Romans fed us to the lions
Anthony Manganiello ,   Walnut Creek USA   (04.02.12)
I do NOT hate Italy or Rome because the Romans fed us Christians to the lions. That was 2 thousand years ago. That was then and this is now. I do NOT look for reasons to hate people .
