Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (04.04.12)
There you go, plagiarizing statements from very questionable websites without proper attribution. 1. There is no such thing as an "Arab Jew." 2. The Arabs who lived in Isael and left did so VOLUNTARILY. There is no "right of return." 3. Massacres of Jews living in Arab lands and mass expulsions of Jews living in Arab and Moslem lands is what caused those Jews to leave. 4. Mizrahi Jews were Jews who lived in lands EAST of Israel. Sephardic Jews lived in lands WEST of Israel. 5. You really need to find better websites from which to plagiarize. You're really nothing more than an irritating asshole -- I doubt that you could understand one in three words of the content of your post! You would never have posted such ridiculous drivel otherwise.
32. #4 - 97% of the Jews in Arab lands were not Zionists
William ,   Israel   (04.04.12)
Zionism was an ideology of Jewish self-determination that originated in 19th century Europe. Jews in Arab lands, although not treated as equals, were loyal to their country and none were involved in any Zionist activities or conspiracies. Arabs were simply acting on their deep-seated hatred and resentment to attack Jews when they lost against Israel. Not only were Jews ethnically cleansed, but none were allowed to keep any of their possessions. All of their property was taken from them, and some even lost their lives to gangs. I know the stories very well - my friends from Egypt and Tunisia lived through it. Arabs were definitely not "weak and powerless" in 1948. They were better armed, better trained, and better numbered, and promised that "Jewish blood would flow through the streets like a river". They were proud of their genocidal goal.
33. #13 - In Egypt, hundreds of Jews were arrested
William ,   Israel   (04.04.12)
and jailed for months at a time. No reason. When returned to their families, they were given a day to leave the country. Were they acting under a Zionist influence? I know this story well. Many Egyptian Jews shared the same fate, as well as my friend who is from Tunisia and had the same experience. Property, money, some lives - all taken from pissed off Arabs who lost a war with Israel and allowed their deep-seated hatred to surface. Unlike Jews, "Palestinians" were not thrown from their homes but coerced by a promised of a quick victory by Arab leaders. Hazem Khalid admitted the Higher Arab Council's blunder when they created the Deir Yassin lie and many Arabs fled out of fear. Other stories exist of how IDF soldiers found empty homes - locked and in order, as if the family went on vacation. If you're running for your life, do you also lock the door of your home? Nice how you attempt to stir the conversation away from your unfounded accusation. FAIL!
34. Refugees
esteban ,   Spain   (04.04.12)
And what about the Jewish refugees from European countries. As far as I know every single country had in its past kicked its Jewish community out. That brings another good point. Why nobody likes the jew
35. what about Jewish "refugees" from Europe, Russia, US
TJ ,   USA   (04.04.12)
Who forced JEWS to leave France, Poland, Russia, US, Argentina, Canada....? Almost 2 million Russian Jews left Russia for Palestine in the 1990s, who forced them to do so? Best solution is that JEWS go back to their countries (Arab & non-Arab) and Palestinians go back to their countries; Palestine.
36. European Jews invaded Palestine expelling 700,000 in 1948
Steven Benassi ,   Silver Bay, MN USA   (04.04.12)
...not the other way around.
37. Blame falls on the EU, UN & OSLO.
BUTSeriously ,   Australia   (04.04.12)
These organizations took on the issue as jurists and failed to be just, exposing past tendencies. They have most largely contributed to the terrorism seen around the world today by their legitimizing such one-sided, immoral, illegal & dis-historical demands of the Arab Muslims against Israel. They had clear knowledge what was before them. They should not be surprised that the same terror and Islamic overwhelming of their countries is also a result of their actions.
38. Endless revisionist history from the chief
ben   (04.04.12)
propagander minister Ayalon. moshe Dyan in his own words 1967 I know how at least 80 percent of the clashes there started. but let's talk about 80 percent. It went this way: We would send a tractor to plough someplace where it wasn't possible to do anything, in the demilitarized area, and knew in advance that the Syrians would start to shool. If they didn't shoot, we would tell the tractor to advance farther, until in the end the Strians would get annoyed and shoot. And then we would use Artillery and later the air force also.and that's how it was. About Dayan's comments even Michael Oren has sai there is an element of truth to Dayan's claim. Face it you guys the new historians have set the record straight about the founding of Israel by terrorits and what really happened in 1967. Time to give it up , Maybe you guys can go work with Winston Smith at the Ministry of Truth on Oceanian.
39. #8 Sarah B. your sarcasm detector needs repair!
shmulke ,   w coast, USA   (04.04.12)

shmulke ,   w coast, USA   (04.04.12)
The Jews of Iraq, Syria, Egypt, etc would not have had to run out suddenly with little but the clothes on their backs as they had to, if they were merely 'seduced' by the 'Zionists.' They were run out of these countries by the muslims...that is, those Jews who weren't massacred.
41. I wish Ayalon also acknowledged mistakes
John R ,   NYC USA   (04.04.12)
I understand the Arab position that in Nov. 1947 that 2/3 of the population west of the Jordan River was non-Jewish and Arab, The Arabs felt any country formed should be Arab and that bad blood had been brewing for years. I also understand that the partition creating the Jewish State was legal and a proper solution to the problem. The Palestinians are not responsible for Arab countries actions and yes Jews thrown out of Arab countries lost their homes. Why that gives those Jews the right to take Palestinian homes I don't know, why compound the wrong? I do know it is cheaper to buy right of return from the Palestinians than the reverse and the international community would likely pay the bulk of the bill. I also know that countries like Iraq and Jordan will never fork over large amounts of compensation to Israel which has a per capita income which is 10x what these countries have. To me this is just one more excuse not to sit down and make difficult decisions. Peace is more valuable than this diversion. This is like saying I can't make peace until they recognize Israel as a Jewish State after you already made peace with Egypt and Jordan with no such requirement.
42. Jewish refugees can go back to arab counties any time
david ,   canada   (04.04.12)
but can the Palestinian refugee go back to there stolen land and time they want ? yes pr no stupid ayalon ?
43. all arab controlled areas of mandate are JEW FREE
bernard ross   (04.04.12)
precedents have been set and accepted by the world, by transfer of Jews from arab nation and the creation of JEW FREE state of trans jordan on 77% of mandate territory. The precedents allow the transfer of muslims from a Jewish state and the creation of a muslim free jewish state. Also, as the 77% JEW FREE Jordan cannot be a home to the jews and is exclusively to the benefit of the arabs then west of the river must be exclusively to the benefit of the Jews.
44. #4
Shalom ,   U.S.A.   (04.04.12)
"Occasional massacres" but otherwise they were treated kindly.Do you know what you're talking about?
45. better late than never BUT...
rick ,   walnut creek   (04.04.12)
Israel should NEVER have allowed a discussion of "refugees" without insisting that any such discussion include Jewish refugees. HOWEVER, the situations are not analogous. larger, wealthier, peaceful, and older Jewish populations were expelled by rabid arab mobs. so, when the discussion properly includes Jewish refugees, the essential differences have to be recognized.
46. Iraq Jews were killed,hung,prisoned!
Damon ,   USA   (04.04.12)
My father was imprisoned. He had to flee with his shirt on his back. My grand-father and uncle were beaten up in Iraqi jails with classic "trumped up Zionist charges". The Jews pre-dated Islam by 1,000 years or so. Muhamad taught his looney followers, hate, mayhem , violence vs. Jews. Need we say more!
47. Right This Second In Alexandria Egypt
Seth ,   Washington, DC   (04.04.12)
There is an Egyptian family living in the apartment that was stolen from our family - who were Egyptian citizens when they were expelled from Egypt and ended up in Israel, U.S. and France. My family would like the "Right of Return" for the value of our apartment and other properties stolen by the Egyptian government.
48. what about Jewish refugees from Europe
Larry ,   Los Angeles   (04.04.12)
The European countries were not lack about exiling Jews. When Jews settled and made some money, historically they were set upon and forced to move; their properties were taken by locals. What about the Inquisition? How many Jewish refugees were created and how much property was lost to Spain? There is no end to the inequality and plain criminality committed by the Europeans upon the Jews through out history. They should share in the spotlight with the Arab countries that forced Jews to move.
49. #13 I don't agree with you
Yossef   (04.04.12)
I am an arab Jew (actually a Berber Jew) and I don't feel de-arabized. BTW there are not much Arabs in north Africa, most of muslim are just islamized berbers, the same way I am a judaized berber. Berber may be but Jew certainly!
50. Arabs accepting responsibility?
Israella   (04.04.12)
Not in our life time. It took Spain 500 years to apologize for the expulsion of the Jews in 1492. King Juan Carlos apologized in 1992.
51. jewish refugees
David ,   Belgium   (04.04.12)
Ayalon is right and i m wondering why the Israeli PR did nt claim this years ago; Rifat, your comments make no sence, jews have all the right and and thats the arabs problem,to think that jews are apes and pigs.As long Arabs will have this stuped attitude they will never achieve peace with Israel. It s time that the UN vote a resolution that all Palestinian refugees have to be integrated where they live now
52. #13 blindman - post #15 is for you
solomon ,   bklyn   (04.04.12)
How do I know? It's obvious. And john puts it so well and accurately.
53. Observer, Egypt...
Abie Dee ,   New York, US   (04.04.12)
It's time to throw away those Egyptian textbooks they used to brainwash you when you were growing up in Egypt. The Arabs in Palestine were also seduced or forced by Arab leaders to leave their homes. They were so confidant that they would destroy the state of Israel and then the Arabs could return and take over their abandoned homes. These leaders proved to be wrong...the Arabs were defeated, even though, til this day, these leaders will not acknowledge that fact. They then proceeded to keep these refugees in camps and 60+ years later they are still there. Do Arab leaders care about these citizens ? not one bit. The only thing they've ever been concerned with, and still are til this day, is the destruction of Israel. Arab leaders created the refugee problem. Time for these leaders to correct their past mistakes. I'm not holding my breath.
54. Response to #13
Avram Goldsmith ,   Toronto, Canada   (04.04.12)
The fact are well documented and there is the legal case which delayed for too long time. Jews have been expelled from Arab country with declaration of independence of Israel in 1948 living behind properties 5 time Israel size and capital of billions of dollars. Your problem is not able to process more from one channel thought and your puzzle is very fragmented remain just pure hate.
55. an idiot - to # 15
yosef yankelev, Phd ,   USA   (04.04.12)
Right on, John Doe,(surely not your real name). "Idiot" is a nice and mild compliment. The truth is worse - a dangerous psychiatric condition, known as "Mass Paranoid Schizophrenia". The asylums in the Western world are overflowing with them - and these are creatures the Jewish state is forced by much of the same world to "negociate" peace conditions.
56. RE: # 35
John   (04.04.12)
While you are at it why don't all non-Native Americans also go back to Europe and Africa where they came from. Also, all Arabs should leave all Berber lands in North Africa too. That's fair.
57. PAls steal, they don't own!
David ,   USA   (04.04.12)
The so-called Pals are refugees from the desert & harsh Arab lands. They sneaked into Israel just like the Arabs from Sudan etc are doing daily. These Bedouin Muslims became the real "occupiers".. They came to reap after the Jews plowed the land & turned the desert to bloom. The Arabs are "squatters" .It's time to send them home for all their daily terrorist knifings, suicide bombs, etc.
58. 'Arabs should accept responsibility for Jewish refugees'
Adam ,   London   (04.04.12)
Like a breath of fresh air ! This is so important but has never been pursued with the importance it truly deserves
59. How unfair, PM Ayalon!
Ahmet Gündogan ,   CH   (04.04.12)
because your action deprives arab countries of the single political lever they have against Israel.
60. Arabs Lying that their Jews left "Voluntarily"
EgyptianJewRefugee ,   EX. Cairo, Egypt   (04.04.12)
The Arabs are Lying that their Jews left "Voluntarily." And some Jewish "Quacks" have written books agreeing with this. Most of us left after being "expropriated" and harassed to leave.
