31. #23 naive?
israel israeli ,   tel aviv   (04.04.12)
Friedman is not naive, nor was Goldstone. They were paid for their services, and they delivered.
32. Tom Friedman
Joshua ,   USA   (04.04.12)
Tom Friedman is a perfec t example of how one can turn into a certified idiot given enough education!
33. Friedman is a mouthpiece for leftist Arabist Propoganda ,
(04.04.12)
slogans and all. Instead of addressing Congress , Friedman wrote,Bibi should have adressed a bunch of Chomsky worshipping students in the USA, to gauge the feelings of middle America. That's so dumb, its intellectual BTW A peaceful PAL demonstration is an oxymoron
34. Respectfully: Arabs do not know what is non violence
Baruch ,   Usa/Israel   (04.04.12)
35. Araft also spoke about Singapores.More like Somalias
Alan ,   SA   (04.04.12)
36. Freidman
Ed Codish ,   Pardessiya   (04.04.12)
Like many others, Freidman has confused two issues: military occupation and settlement. Until truly complete and enforceable security arrangements are in place, military occupation is necessary for the safety of Israel's population. The settlements, on the other hand, needlessly and very expensively put Israelis in danger, and should, except as negotiated, go.
37. Friedman = SICKMAN !
Chris Rettenmoser ,   Bayerisch Gmain Germ   (04.04.12)
38. Not this Tom Friedman again and again and again and again
Yoav Naor ,   Haifa Israel   (04.04.12)
It would be easier to get a camel through the eye of a needle, than to have peace in the ME,the ME is like an active volcano that keeps erupting again and again..........Tom Friedman lives in America should stick to American politics.Israel has enough of people telling how us to run Israel, and the last thing that Israel needs is advice from Tom Friedman........
39. He turns my stomach
Bad Assed Jew ,   United States   (04.04.12)
He neither lives there nor is he supportive of Israel, pardon me, but, what a schmuck.
40. American Jews should leave Israel alone
A Jew ,   Galus, TX   (04.04.12)
Between Tom Friedman and Peter Beinart, I think the Israelis are better off handling their own problems than a bunch of whiny, left-wing, hand-wringing a$$holes, who demand Israel make concessions so that they can pretend to feel comfortable at their Manhattan cocktail parties. Sick, twisted zeidim. Cease and desist.
41. 'll never be as morally insecure as Thomas Friedman
(04.04.12)
That arrogant and insidious self-hating Jew has no higher moral ground over any Israel-loving Jew, especially those to fight the Islamo-Leftist trend of calling for a new Holocaust, and supporting genocidal armed and diplomatic terror. Thomas Fruedman is a moder-times Kapo anspd deserves the same despise as the Bazi times Kapos. He is a disgrace to the Jewish people and an embarrassment to his family. Shame on you, traitor Thomas Friedman! May you be cursed in hell!
42. Not only we are not "insecure", we are more focused
(04.04.12)
focused on survival despite these backstabbing racists. They only embolden us more and focus us on fighting our enemies, even if they are spineless Jews like Thomas Friedman.
43. Ynet: Stop giving Friedman a Platform
Jeff ,   Jerusalem, Israel   (04.04.12)
Every article that Friedman writes concerning Israel Ynet gives him a platform as though he is some Middle East expert which further props up his arrogant self-important opinion of himself--that he knows better than the people who actually live in Israel. He has gotten it wrong so many times (remember last year his article "Postcard from Eygpt" criticizing Israel that it should stop siding with the Pharoahs-and should side instead with the so-called pro-democracy protesters). He has become the ultimate champion and tool of the Arabs (and richly benefits from this)--a Jew who continuously attacks Israel in the Newspaper of Record. In fact, ee is still a supporter of Marwan Barguotti to lead the PA.
44. Friedman article
Ze'ev ,   Jerusalem - ISRAEL   (04.04.12)
Tom! Please stop sharing your opinion about Israel. We have decided to always skip your articles because they lack intelligence and any understanding of reality. Stick to the United States. Enough is enough.
45. Rocks are not nonviolent
DavidM ,   USA   (04.04.12)
In his advice to Palestinians Mr. Friedman includes rock throwing as a form of nonviolence. Does Friedman not know that rocks can kill? It is easy to call for rock throwing in Israel when you live in Virginia.
46. notice that he said
real visiona ,   united States   (04.04.12)
that the palestinian state should be comprised of "Arab Muslims and Christians, men and women, can thrive in a secular, but religiously respectful, free-market, democratic context," So no jews allowed...No way would these people be neighborly to the jewish people next door
47. Talkbacks prove Friedman's point
Avramele   (04.04.12)
Ynet readers are not happy with his thesis. However they argue the feasibility of security arrangements not the morality of the occupation. We do not want to rule another people but do not crave martyrdom (again). The ball is as Friedman says in the Palestinian court to prove that giving up the chametz of occupation will bring us cups of the sweet wine of security not the bitter herbs of future conflict.
48. Uncle Tom Friedman
Dov ,   Netanya   (04.04.12)
This fool should be renamed uncle Tom Friedman. Too much junk food in America has turned him into the classic overweight American Jew who NEVER could understand what it is to live in the Middle East and be fighting a war of survival! Ironically this man gets paid for his foolish rantings! Go figure He's living the American dream
49. Friedman is delusional
Sidney ,   USA   (04.04.12)
He lives in a surrealist distortion of the real world where he is the prophet of whatever god who brings truth to the benighted inhabitants.
50. #47. The "occupation" is fictional. Jews own Judea/Samaria.
Chaim ,   Israel   (04.04.12)
#47 Avramele. You keep whining endlessly about the "occupation". But how can a nation occupy it's own land? Judea and Samaria have belonged to Jews for more than 3,500 years. Even our enemies don't dispute this. MK Danny Ayalon's challenge to publicly debate Israel's legal ownership of Judea and Samaria is STILL unanswered by the multi billion dollar funded P.A. Even it knows Jews own Judea and Samaria.
51. I am upset with Friedman, but not terribly.
leo ,   usa   (04.04.12)
His advise is impractical for Arabs. Arabs are too hateful to be nonviolent toward Israel. With that said I think all US Jews should organize into nonviolent ouster of Friedman. Guy must not get a time of day from anyone as far as I am concerned.
52. #29 is correct
TaylorT ,   Earth   (04.04.12)
To some Israelis, this issue is about 'security,' but the problem lies with those Israelis who view the occupation as a chance to increase Isareli living space. They believe the lands is theirs because some god thousands of years ago 'gave' it to them. In other words, no rational argument can reach these people. They are no different than those Palestinians who seek to push the Israelis into the sea. Each side is dominated by hate-filled, warmongers who believe the fairy tales favor their side.
53. Useful idiot
Yaron ,   USA   (04.04.12)
No more no less
54. #29 What borders?
Igor ,   Germany   (04.04.12)
What are "internationally recognised borders" you're referring to? It cannot be the "Green Line" since 1) the armistice agreement of Rhodos explicitly states that it does not prejudicate the border and 2) no-one in the world recognizes it as the border (just ask Menahem Zivotovsky what his U.S.-issued passport says about his land of birth).
55. Non-violent Palestinian Awakening With Map
American Jew ,   New Jersey, USA   (04.04.12)
is the pragmatic path most consistent with Judaism & current realities versus the past, current & continuing explosive status quo tinder box. It is by far, the best possible path to a viable solution most beneficial to Jews, Israel, Palestinians, our USA and the World!
56. One wishes that instead of calling upon Arabs to attack Jews
Jehudah Ben-Israel ,   Qatzrin, Israel   (04.04.12)
this NYT commentator called upon the parties to live by UN Security Council Resolution, 242, on the basis of which they reached the September 1995 Interim Agreement that is the basis for the way matters are being governed. All that we need now is a Final Status Agreement that would replace the Interim Agreement. But in order to reach such an agreement both parties must talk peace. So far the PLO has refused to come to the table and, without pre-conditions as called for by the agreement on which it has signed, sit and talk peace with its Israeli government counterparts.
57. Freedman
Jorge ,   Israel/USA/Argentina   (04.04.12)
Are you a column writer or the owner of the circus? How about telling stop resistance, incitement, provocations, threats, antisemitism, violence and blackmailing? With yesterday: why do we need a palestinian state, to live in the ICC? Wake up and do jogging in Central Park instead of writing non sense
58. Message to Friedman
Maurice ,   Montreal   (04.04.12)
When will you understand that the `Palestinians` do not want to accept the existence of a Jewish Israel in the Middle-East? Just look at what is going on out there! Are you that thick-headed?Any compromise with them regarding the "West Bank" will create another Gaza. Can`t you see that?
59. To much time on his computer I'd say.
Ypip ,   Canada   (04.04.12)
60. Still an OSTRICH?! Is it the FEATHERS?!
Jerry ,   The Netherlands   (04.04.12)
