31. #23 It's not complicated, they get it
Cynthia ,   USA   (04.05.12)
But Israelis are the ones being fired upon by kassams and bombs paid for by Iran. They're not blinded by fear but driven by the very same desire for survival you take for granted. There cannot be meaningful dialogue with Iranians in Iran while the Regime controls every aspect of Iranian life and sets up a cyberspace unit to prevent them from communicating with the outside world.
32. Put up or shut up
Harvey ,   London   (04.05.12)
We live in a world that has somehow become that much smaller since the advent of advanced global communications . Everyone's thoughts and objectives belief and creed is now up there for all to see . Nothing is held back . Speculation is rife and everybody including me is now an arm chair general . We have a serious problem with Iran . Nothing should be discussed . Not by reporters not by politicians . Either we live with an Iranian bomb or we take action . If action do it without discussion .
33. Scumbags zondercommanders won't let anyone to the handle...

wanna be good to Iranians? Here is your oven.
34. #24 Tata
Dan the Jafa ,   Auckland, NZ   (04.05.12)
Hi Tata, I think the reason Iranian Jews do not want to immigrate to Israel is the same why Soviet Jews stayed put in the Workers' Paradise - because they know that if one will make it out alive, his relatives will be made sorry they were ever born. That's pretty much hostage taking 101 for you. Hope that helps. P.S. Your name sound Russian, pretty sure you know what I am talking about.

At least we won't feel uncomfortable when these genocidal primitives force us to bomb the crap out of them!
37. If anyone knows better than us, its a former Iranian
EZRA THE PROUD JEW ,   USA-ISRAEL   (04.05.12)
I have many Jewish/Persian friends who left Iran over the past five to ten years and who came from different parts of Iran. They all say the same thing: Iran is no good for Jews; virtually all of the people there hate Jews (even the less religious muslims) and they're very happy to be gone from that place. They also said those Jews who remained in Iran are hiding their heads in the sand and just going with the flow of Irans anti-semitism and attempting to quell it by cowering. Iran is a cesspool of exceptionally foolish and uneducated people who are filled with false pride and hatred. Its pathetic. I for one, totally support a massive military campaign against Iran that would include ground forces and the elimination of the entire regime. And YES: if I could still serve (I'm a vet), I would gladly to fight Iran on the ground. They need a serious undoing. Chai Yisrael.

41. #23
Yaron ,   USA   (04.05.12)
How very hi-minded of you to pity the Dr for presenting the reality a large part of Israel has to grapple with. While the left wing love in would be a great way to solve disputes.....it is simply a pipe dream. Now, the real question is can Israel live with an existential threat from a theocratic regime that has publicly called for her destruction? I suspect the answer is no and that Iran will get set back a while when the inevitable action occurs. Yes, Israel would suffer some damage. It is a real shame that smart folks around the world lead with their gutlessness as everyone agrees that WMD in the hands of mullahs is the least favorable desired outcome.
42. The true Dr

The 'Dr ' spelled his name wrong, twice, lol!
43. Persia and the Jews
M. Hartley ,   Atlanta, US   (04.05.12)
Do any of the tbers realize that the second temple was built thanks to Cyrus the Great? He not only sent the Jews back home, but furnished help in the form of money, but building experts.
44. To nr 43, M. Hartley, Atlanta, US
Alexander ,   Tel Aviv, Israel   (04.05.12)
I consider my self well educated in history and yes - I know of Cyrus the Great of Persia and his assistance to the Jews and his liberation of the Jewish people. I also know that this took place 2500 years ago and I also know that Cyrus has been dead for 2500 years. We live today in 2012, not 2500 years ago. Cyrus is not in power. Ahmadinejad and the ayatollahs are - unfortunately, and we have to act accordingly.
45. To #44
M. Hartley ,   Atlanta, US   (04.05.12)
I appreciate your comments and "favorited" your tb. As correct as your observations are with regard to the time frame, which you decry as immaterial vis a vis the situation of today, why then is it OK for a lot of Jews to claim ownership of the Land of Israel based on a reality even older? I reminds me of accusations of anti-Semitism on the same page with disparaging remarks about other religions, cultures, etc. by Jews. Politics of Convenience only works, if nobody notices that's what it is.....

between nations. Instead it mutual respect and goodwill is needed. Also useful some separation between french and germans, greeks and turks, israelis and arabs.
48. Persia under Cyrus
artyom   (04.05.12)
Has virtually nothing in common with Iran under the mullahs.
49. To nr 45 - Well thanks for your support
Alexander ,   Tel Aviv, Israel   (04.05.12)
Yes I can answer your question. With all due respect to your logical and philosophical references to history and emotional and intellectual consistency ( I agree, one should be consistent) , I can guarantee you that I am consistent. You should separate between national rights derived from history in one's ancestral homeland on one hand and the temporary nature of governments on the other hand. The answer is: you were refering to an ancient regime, a king or emperor who lived 2500 years ago. He is not alive today. He is not in power. Kings, royals, governments come and go, but nations last much longer than a single regime. Comparing Cyrus with the current Iranian regime is, from a historical point of view (not a moral point of view -I'm not comparing Obama with the Iranian regime), similar of comparing George Washington with Barack Obama - two different men in two different eras. I do not decry Persia's past, but the old glory days cannot save us from a dangerous present time. Iran has a different regime today, but Israel and the Jews are still here today. And our presence in this world has not changed. The actions of men take place here and now. But the history of nations didn't start now or 5 minutes ago. One cannot pretend that 4000 years of Jewish history didn't exist. The reason I exist today is because of my ancient ancestors. Without ancient Israel and without our ancient history in our ancestral land of Israel, our mere presence in Israel would be meaningless. The modern State of Israel exists because of our ancient Kingdom of Israel and Kingdom of Yehuda. Respectfully Alexander
50. Most Holocaust Era Germans likely didn't hate Jews.
Chaim ,   Israel   (04.05.12)
The percentage of Iranians who hate Jews is irrelevant. Iran's leadership seeks nukes to use against Israel. That's all that counts. Most Holocaust Era Germans likely didn't hate Jews. So what? Destroy Iran's nukes NOW!
51. To Alexander #49
M. Hartley ,   Atlanta, US   (04.05.12)
Contrary to what you may have read into my tb's, and regardless of the fact that this is not exactly relevant to the article, my "philosophy" is actually very simple: "We have it. It's ours until we damn' well decide to give it back or until you come to get it." With regard to constant BS from Gaza, it gets even simpler: Whether there is damage or not, one more missile into Israel from that direction and there will be an announcement to the population to the effect that within x # of days, that particular area will be reconfigured into a parking lot all the way to the Mediterreanean.....NEEEEEEEEXT! My approach to things is more along the lines of ancient Jericho and modern Osirak. Although Masada is fascinating historically and as a natural phenomenon - I've been there - I don't care for what made it famous. Happy Holiday by whatever name....:-)
52. To: No. 45
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (04.05.12)
Because the land of Israel is the homeland of the Jewish people. It does not matter how long the period of exile. The archeological evidence is bountiful. But what does that have to do with who ruled Iran back then and who rules Iran now? I think your analogy is inapposite.
53. #23 - "Jewish self-importance"? Keep telling yourself
ahad ha'amoratsim ,   usa   (04.06.12)
that you are only anti-Zionist; better yet, that you only oppose Israel's current elected leadership. "m sure you even believe yourself. But don't expect anyone who can read and think to believe you.
54. this is hopeless
Benjamin Milikofsky ,   Miami Florida   (04.06.12)
55. My answer to the "doctor"...
Persian CAT   (04.06.12)
Most Iranians and indeed most people hate Apartheid, occupation land grabbers, not the Jews. Regarding attacking Iran, I know and you should know too, that Israel would have attacked Iran by now IF it could. But it can't. So stop barking.
56. To: 52...dear Sarah, you obviously still don't get it!
Edithann ,   USA   (04.06.12)
Canaan is the homeland of the Palestinians ..they preceded Israel and have the priority claim......Get it now?.. TATA.
57. Persian Cat
Poco Loco ,   London, Israel   (04.06.12)
Do not delude yourself. Israel is more than capable to attack and successfully damage your nuclear installations. You will soon see! Then, perhaps you may consider to drop 'Persian Cat' in favour of 'Paper Tiger'.
58. this is the way really?
Judith Adler ,   Tel Aviv-Yafo   (04.06.12)
hate and paranoia is just simply self-destructing in the long-run , how come nobody understands that?
59. To nr 58 - What planet do you live on?
Alexander ,   Tel Aviv, Israel   (04.07.12)
Hate and paranoia? Who is threatening who? Is it Israel that theatens Iran or is it Iran that threatens Israel? Iran has repeatedly stated that it wants to kill 6 million Jews in Israel. Iran is the new Nazi Germany. Iran is a brutal dictatorship that oppresses its people. Israel, USA, Europe and IAEA know beyond any doubt that Iran intends to develop nuclear weapons. The ayatollahs are in power and they cling onto a religious and extremist world view which involves a world apocalypse, genocide on Jews and Iranian world conquest. Just imagine what Iran would do if they had nuclear weapons. Hate and paranoia dear Judith emanates from Iran, Turkey and 22 Arab states - unless you haven't noticed what Islam has been doing to this region for the past 1400 years. 10 million Moslems have been murdererd by other Moslems since 1945. Self defense is not hate and paranoia. Iran supports hate and paranoia. Israel supports self defense. How come you don't understand that? If you oppose hate and paranoia, what about protesting against the Iranian regime's death threats against Israel? Or what's the matter? Jewish lives matter nothing to you?
60. To nr 58 - Oh boy, here we go again.
Alexander ,   Tel Aviv, Israel   (04.07.12)
We neither show hatred nor paranoia - we live in the real world and see and observe what is going on in this world. Shutting one's eyes, pretending everything is fine and rejecting the existential threats simply because one doesn't dare to face them and labeling people who want to confront lethal threats by self defense as "extremistst" or "hateful paranoid people" is suicidal and insane. Labels such as "hateful" and "paranoid" and reality detached opinions will not save Israel from the Iranian nuclear threat, but IDF will save Israel. Self defense and hate/paranoia are not the same. How come you don't understand that?
