32. defy the law and cry over results
Yosef ,   boca Raton   (04.15.12)
A clear order was given to go away. You defy the military or police forces and what do you expect? Do you think this does not happen in USA or other civilize countries? Should be happy he was not thrown in jail for 6 months for disorderly conduct
33. Are you kidding me?
Canadian Dude ,   Canada   (04.15.12)
Most of the posters here sound like violent, abusive wife-beating drunks. What a world we live in, just keep this video in your browser favourites so you can refer to it next time you ask why a growing number of countries are fed up with Israel. So now it's ok to beat unarmed protesters, is it? Wonder what you guys would be saying if American police used that kind of force to break up a Tea Party rally- "duh, in Iran they woulda shot ya!" applies there too? You idiots give more ammo to the BDS movement than 1000 Norman Finkelsteins ever could.
34. idf soldier
Yoel ,   ossining,ny   (04.15.12)
James #14 You miss the point. Syria & Iran are not the moral comparisons for Israel. Rather, the naming of those countries is to demonstrate the hypocricy and cowardice of the provacateurs.
35. End velvet glove treatment of Israel's enemies.
Chaim ,   Israel   (04.15.12)
In many, if not most nations such "demonstrators" would be dealt with as hostile invaders (which they are) and shot. Israel has nothing to apologize for. I am fed up with Israel's enemies being treated with velvet gloves and I'm far from the only one. I mean both Israel's internal leftist enemies and foreign Jew haters.
36. A real hero, and of course the most moral
Albrecht   (04.15.12)
in the world.
37. Well done IDF!
Anna ,   Sweden   (04.15.12)
They are provocateurs and troublemakers and should be treated as such. Israel is too good to them. Throw them out.
38. the moral idf
j ,   uk   (04.15.12)
well this proves the govermeants remarks about the idf which were "THE IDF IS THE MOST MORAL ARMY IN THE WORLD" haha hehe PMSL
39. He traveled far to tempt fate
Cameron ,   USA   (04.15.12)
So much for being a young idealist, and throwing yourself into the middle of it.
40. So what?
Joe ,   France   (04.15.12)
She came to Israel for free plastic-surgery!
41. If i was in his place i would done the same thing..
jhonny ,   norway   (04.15.12)
those people went there looking for problems.. there acting is NOT going to change anything at all, there action is not going to be in any history book.. the only thing he is going to remember is his broken nose and teeth..
42. MARVELLOUS FUN ,WHAT A VIDEO
DA URBAN POET ,   SAFED OPERA HOUSE   (04.15.12)
This IDF officer is wonderful .He knew how to sort out this trouble making lowlofe scumbag.
43. So what? Palestinian officers shoot and kill Israelis...
Brian Cohen ,   Judean Peoples Front   (04.15.12)
...and nobody gives a damn. Palestinian police never hold an inquiry. Palestinian police never discipline any Palestinian who is involved in attacking Israelis. Human rights groups never protest against this. Human rights groups never write reports and hold press conferences about this. There has NEVER, ever, been any Palestinian investigation of attacks by Palestinians on Israelis, despite the fact that there have been literally thousands of attacks. These so called "leftist activists" and so called "human rights organizations" are neither. The former are anti-Israel agitators, and the latter are propaganda fronts for Palestinian human rights atrocities and war crimes.
44. brutal
Meier ,   newark, nj   (04.15.12)
no clue what brutal is in this context. want really brutal? how about the neighboring countries? or how about Hamas in Gaza? this is brutal. Brutal? read today's statement by Argentina's former dictator. Anyway, why does the IDF get involved? Israel should allow a welcoming committee of interested citizens to deal with foreign activists. That way no officers or soldiers can be vilified. And, let's see if Abu Mazen is willing or interested or able to deal with such committee. I suggest that Betar Yerushalaim fans will do a good job welcoming them. Then we can reconsider brutality :-).
45. Reasonable restraint
Jonathan ,   Efrat Israel   (04.15.12)
This member of the IDF, with rifle in hand, pushed this trouble maker away. With adrenalin pumping - this is reasonable restraint. We should be proud of his control.
46. Wow, that's it? He'd be executed in any other ME country.
BK ,   USA   (04.15.12)
EXCEPT FOR ISRAEL! Not only that, but this would have never happened if they weren't provoking.
47. I find any violence abbhorent
exUK ,   Tel Aviv   (04.15.12)
Israel is showing itself as paranoid ,incapable of accepting any criticism, and ugly to the rest of the world. We in Tel Aviv would never know of such incidents until an'agitator' puts it onto youtube.Having had a nice sunny day by the sea,it is a 'culture shock'for me to see this. And to all those posters who think this sort of action is clever or justified,I say that you all make me thoroughly ashamed to be associated with you.We are not an apartheid state, that is for sure. However the West Bank goings on are often bad,and that is why the flytilla is banned. It would have been better to let them in and not give them the publicity they seek..That is,unless they would be party to some terrible as yet unknown revelationsI am fed up with Syria being used as justification in comparison. We wish to be considered 'above such behaviour'? Then we should act accordingly. The officer concerned should be court martialled. There was no violence from the victim.Verbal attacks on the IDF must be met with greatest of restraint!
48. An egregious abuse of power
Marvin ,   San Francisco   (04.15.12)
The action of this "officer" was totally uncalled for and unjustified. This was a clear abuse of force. No other members of the security detail (atleast on camera) behaved in such a brazen manner. And by the way, I have no use for ISM. Irrational and uncontrolled abusive acts like this only serve their ends, not Israel
49. Play with fire and get burned
Cynthia ,   USA   (04.15.12)
The idiot "protester" should thank the officer. He got what he came for. Next time heed the warning and stay away!
50. Video: IDF officer beats activist with M-16 rifle
Ben Tzion ,   USA   (04.15.12)
ISM are a terrorist group bent on the destruction of Jews and Israel. They should be stopped at all cost.
51. IDF officer beats activist with m-16 rifle. #33
Elsie, ,   Gush Halav   (04.15.12)
I could'nt agree with you more ,you said it all,Canadian Dude, well done, did everyone see that the said officer is wearing a Kippa!!! well, well.
52. Beating is wrong translation - he hit (once) ..
michael redbourn ,   Arad Israel   (04.15.12)
53. What motivates activists?
michael redbourn ,   Arad Israel   (04.15.12)
misconceptions dot us/what-motivates-activists replace dot with a . and remove the spaces
54. No big deal
Sam M ,   UK   (04.15.12)
These morons were clearly disobeying the officer's order to disperse. Their prescence is also a provocation since they're foreign 'activists out to delegitimise Israel as a Jewish state and have no right even being there. I'll save my sympathy for the victims of torture and death squads throughout the muslim world and Jewish victims of arab terror in Israel. If they have any complaints let them try the same thing in the muslim world and see what they get! These sanctimonious hypoctites should all get a kick up the backside and a fast ride to the airport!
55. third world county
Atilla ,   istanbul   (04.15.12)
56. Incredible...barbaric
me   (04.15.12)
57. Stop pissing around with the IDF.
Israeli from Turkey   (04.15.12)
Stop pissing around with the IDF. Today it finished without grave consequences but can't always be sure of that - tensions are high. This is not a game and I don't think that westeners want to become "martyrs" too.
58. #33 is right
Noa   (04.15.12)
A moral army behaves morally. This was not the case. And, as a religious person, I am ashamed that someone wearing a kipa would behave like that. For shame!
59. #1
John ,   London   (04.15.12)
You are right... as long as you are Eli the Jew from Israel and not James the non-Jew from the United Kingdom.....
60. war zone
eli   (04.15.12)
in a war zone many worse things happen, many deaths, 22 unfriendly arab neighbors have made israel a hostile place, israelis are simply protecting themselves from millions that seek her demise.
