Once in power, the new egyptian government will cut all ties with Israel. They don`t mind their economic worsening. All they mind is Islam`s definition of a Jew: a dhimmi. And Israel should be punished for not accepting to play the dhimmi (=special tax paying second class citizens subservient to Muslems).
2. US Should CANCEL its Financial Aid Program to Egypt!

zionist forever   (04.22.12)
EGYPT The country is already up to its eyes in debt thanks to the good ole arab spring and economic mismanagement. The Muslim Brotherhood government wants to ban bikini tourism which can only be good for Israel because the tourists wanting to combine a beach holiday with the sights of Egypt will go to Eilat for the beach side of things and day trips to Egypt to see the sites. If they cancel the gas deal which earns them billions annually through gas sales will get worse putting the Muslim Brotherhood government into a position where they can't afford to make wars. Israel will bring its own gas fields online and everybody is a winner except the Egyptians. Long term Israel should look into self generation for energy sources. Industrial parks, railway stations etc they are all easily capable of generating their own power needs through use of modern solar technology and any surplus can be sold to the grid. Even provate homes, why have a piece of glass on your balcony when you can have a solar panel and generate at least part your electricity needs which saves money. All the government has to do is make it law that all new build private homes are fitted with solar panels for self generation so the cost is passed to the developer. Give the industrial parks a tax break or something to instal solar. In the Golan encourage private companies to install more windmills, right now there is just a handful of the things but if the incentive is there then many more can be put up long term saving the government moneys and allowing a larger share of the offshore gas supplies to be exported.

Egypt, latest basket case of the Arab spring. Advice to Israel. Keep expanding. F.................em!
5. Doesn't Jordan's gas go through too? Shut that down.

Good news!
7. so much for barak and ben eliezer appeasement
mohson   (04.22.12)
these guys should never have been political leaders and they cannot see beyond a narrow military objective. israel gave up sinai in return for committments which the US cannot guarantee and egypt cannot sustain because of the moslem brotherhood paranoia and fantasies. egypt knows israel existed without palestinains yet cannot see the lies in its pronouncements. ehud barak should be removed as defense mininster as he has been the one appeasing tantawi allowing brigades to enter sinai and yet help hamas and alquaeda launch rockets. barak is utterly incapable and bibi should force him out . Yaalon is the man to take defence and egypt might respect and fear that move.
8. Poor Egyptian people
jeff ,   Beverly Hills, CA   (04.22.12)
they truly wanted change, and for the foreseeable future they are doomed
9. #3
Mohab ,   Cairo   (04.22.12)
Oh, so you poor thing actually thought that Egypt was economically benefiting from this deal? According to all document shown after the revolution, Egypt was losing money in exporting gas to Israel and Jordan. Recently Jordan accepted to pay more for the gas, while Israel didn't. So, good riddance. As for tourism, don't worry about us kid. Even in an awfully terrible year like last year we still managed to get four times as many tourists as your boring culturally and historically bankrupt country did! Let the comment see the light, if you have any dignity!
10. Turning back the clocks
tiki ,   belgium   (04.22.12)
Wasn't the 'Peace deal and the Gas supply deal part of the return of Sinai? Is Israel just going to accept this without consequenses? If they do, they have lost all credibility & earned themselves the term of Jewish 'sucker-ball.
11. True Peace
mayer ,   new york   (04.22.12)
30 years ago, when the ONLY REAL leader said that this peace deal is a fake and should not be done he was called a fanattatic goggle/search Lubavitcher Rebbe and true peace and you will find out what a shame !!!! we could have had true peace 30 years ago.
12. #6 It is news good news
Sidney ,   USA   (04.22.12)
Israel will soon be energy independent and Egypt will be poorer. Israel has been stupid in two ways, depending on Egypt for a vital need and ignoring solar energy, an Israeli company built a large solar power plant in California about 15 years ago which is still working well.
13. It is best for that pipeline to be shut down since Egypt is
Rivkah   (04.22.12)
about to become uninhabitable for forty years with the Aswan dam about to be nuked as foretold in Scriptures long ago.
14. Israel has lots of offshore natural gas and is better off
Rivkah   (04.22.12)
without a pipeline from Egypt. The Muslim Brotherhood is bringing the destruction of Egypt since they sure won't be blessed for not cooperating with HaShem's Israel.
15. Sinai will be under Israel's sovereignty within 18 month
maurice ,   Los Angeles, USA   (04.22.12)
Egypt is digging its own grave. What a bunch of stupid idiots.
16. USE LESS !
Indira Jaiswal ,   India   (04.22.12)
Israelis would do well to use less gas and other fuel that they do not produce themselves. Personally I try to cut down on cooking stuff if I can have it raw .
17. Time for a reminder!!!!!!!!
Ber ,   Yahud   (04.22.12)
War games coincidently close to the Aswan Dam? One "accident" could literally send the whole country back to times of Noah, and judging by their current crescendo of monsters resorting to the same same old Arab treachery against peace treaties, Gd would not have a hard time seeing the parallel with Noah either.
18. Blame yourself
Jimi ,   Ramallah/Palestine   (04.22.12)
Ending occupation is the ONLY solution for the existance of israel, you didn't understand that before and ignoring it today, and expected for times to come.... The only reason for israel to stay is the state of palestine...
19. why?
observer ,   Egypt   (04.22.12)
Egypt's gas deal was based on bribes to official persons making the contract void according to international law. So, Egypt agreed on continuation of gas to to Israel sufficient to generate 33% of Israel's electricity only on the condition that Israel supply Gaza with pre- paid electricity. Moreover, it was not direct contract with Israel, but with a middleman company. It is between Israel and the company. The treaty gives Egypt right to amend it. normal commercial relations is vague and doesn't include deal. In early October, 2011 Egypt has opened its pocket for Gaza to raise Egypt's electricity supply from 17 to 22 megawatts.
20. To #9
Marty ,   Toronto Canada   (04.22.12)
I visited your lovely country to see the pyramids. Here's my impression of Egypt. Your country is so filthy the flies have their own flies. I saw people along the Nile irrigating fields with Archimedes Screw - so much for modern technology. Every consumer product seemed to be imported because your countrymen seem to be unable to manufacture anything. Half the traffic lights in Cairo didn't work. There were periodic power outages during the day. When I went to use land line telephones they were either dead or the quality of the voice sounded like Donald Duck yelling across an open field. There seems to have been no progress in Egypt in decades - and all infrastructure seems to have been built by foreigners. BTW- remember if you go back to a state of war with Israel - I hope you can all swim because the Aswan Dam (built by Russians - not inept Egyptians) is going to be a legitimate military target in the next war!
21. Egypt shoots self, aims at Israel, News?
Baruch ,   Houston/Israel   (04.22.12)
22. Egypt ends gas deal with Israel.
Harold ,   USA   (04.22.12)
Mubarak is not there anymore. Arab Spring revolutions hirt Israel from all angles. Now the people is talking and deciding. Israel has to knock other country's door for gas.
23. #9 Mohab
Rachel ,   US   (04.22.12)
Egypt is a basket case economically!
24. treating peace treaty
observer ,   Egypt   (04.23.12)
The Peace Treaty states clearly that One of the two Parties can request amendment to the treaty, it is time for Egypt to submit that request. Let's see if Israel would risk bombing the High Dam with nukes, if Egypt opted to strike Dimona which is already on the list of targets by medium- and long-rang rockets. In the peace treaty, Israel did not deny nor prevent Egypt's right in Umm Erashrash (Eilat), nor any other Egyptian land or right.
25. whatever, Egypt likes being a 3rd world country
Jeff ,   USA   (04.23.12)
with 7th century views..What a DUMP
26. Egyptian gas
Ameridane ,   Aarhus, Denmark   (04.23.12)
Israel has a great energy resource, namely the Med-to Dead sea water fall electricity production. I have written about it many times, and I am only waiting for snide remarks from Mr. Ben Jabo
27. New energy possible!
Johannes ,   NORWAY   (04.23.12)
A lot of new electric energy could come from waterfall created in the Judean mountains with water led from the Mediterranean Ocean to The Dead Sea via canal and tunnel on Israeli soil!
28. High time!
graczek ,   Maryland, USA   (04.23.12)
It is high time and indeed way past time that Egypt cancelled that traitorous gas deal with the Zionists. Finally, Egypt takes a moral stand and puts principle above profit! Right on!!
29. A clear violation of the peace treaty?!!
Gehenas ,   Egypt   (04.23.12)
We exported gas to Israel at lowest prizes, aided them foil the union between Fath and Hamas, helped them capture ex-Iranian DM and what did we get in return? exporting spoiled pesticides/goods to us, sending spies, preventing us from sending troops to Sinai so we can nab terrorist groups. Yes our country's economy is terrible because of Mubarak and you supported him for all these years. And don't worry we're already demolishing the Aswan Dam.
30. Get the gas from the US
Ron ,   OC US   (04.23.12)
Get the gas from the US in the near term as the price is at historical lows. Israel will have to develop its own off shore reserves that much faster. Egypt will lose. They have lost already.
