31. #18 jimi- blame yourselves
solomon ,   bklyn   (04.23.12)
There is no occupation. If anything it is a return to the country before the Muslim Conquest, before the Jordanian invasion of 1948, etc. Attacks by arabs began way before 1948, and way before the Six Day War. In fact the cause of the Six Day War was the threat of annihilation issued by the arabs...before Israel captured any part of the WB or gaza. You need a serious reality check. Life is not as you think it appears.
32. #19 mr. myopia
solomon ,   bklyn   (04.23.12)
1. There is no such “international law”. There is a recommendation from the UN that such laws be promulgated by each country. Egypt has not done so. (You have a long list of “international laws” that you have referenced, but don’t exist.) 2. Israel supplies Gaza with 70% of its power. Hamas pays the PA to pay Israel. They stopped paying, so the fuel stopped. 3. You cannot stop a term of a peace treaty, of which this is an integral part, unilaterally. 4. You are blind as a bat, and willfully so. So what else is new?
33. It hurts Israel, it hurts Egypt...a sign of things to come
TaylorT ,   Earth   (04.23.12)
Israel has had thirty years to try to cement peace with its neighbors. The cost wasn't much: do what needs to be done to make peace with the Palestinians. Israel has chosen instead to be stubborn (and listen to its far right who believe some book written thousands of years ago gives it the right to a piece of land in the 21st century.) They have also constantly pointed the finger at the Palestinians when the whole world could see that they were suffering far more than Israel (a stupid move on Israel's part, and one that was certain to make it look bad.) It's this unattractive bullying that has kept hate alive in Egypt and other nations. If Israelis were smarter, they would have realized that they needed to take the high road in all this. Instead they allowed themselves to be played by the Palestinians and suckered into an "eye for an eye" mentality. .

35. # 32.. The myopia is all yours...
Edithann ,   USA   (04.23.12)
The middle man selling Israel gas below market prices was the US...The US guarantees oil to Israel...look it up...Make sure you put your glasses on to read the fine print ...were it says to soak the American tax payer for Israel.... International law is not Talmudic, therefore Israel ignores all International laws...and are in violations of 600+ UN and SC regulations... That's all because Jews are 'chosen' and we're still paying for not bombing the RR lines to Auschwitz... TATA
36. This is is old news
MAYER ,   NYC   (04.23.12)
((over 30 years ago)) "The signing of the Camp David (I) accords by Israel is the most senseless folly imaginable. We have ceded our security — lands, oil, settlements and airfields — for nothing but a piece of paper that can be torn up at any time. The "peace" we thought to gain is a bitter illusion, and the only result is that now we are infinitely weaker and the enemy infinitely more powerful. - The Lubavitcher Rebbe" i you want to see more just google true peace rebbe
37. YES!
shaun green ,   pasadena usa   (04.23.12)
As an American I couldn't agree more. Why do we waste our money giving an allowance to people who hate us anyway? That's money we could spend on our OWN citizens.
38. Future expressions of hostility against Israel?
Shalom Freedman ,   Jerusalem Israel   (04.23.12)
Clearly one of the very few political cards Egypt has to appease domestic opinion is expressions of hostility to Israel. Here they have done this at cost to their own self- interest when their Economy is deeply hurting? How far will they go in expressions of hostility however costly to their own national interest? This is extremely worrisome and our security forces must be prepared for any eventuality.
39. #29 Gehenas
Iranian Jew ,   Los Angeles   (04.23.12)
Mubarak was the only one that could protect you form the terrorists, and you just don't want to admit that fact. Do you really think that we can trust anyone beside him to run your country? Stop making the excuses for the spoiled pesticides or the Iranian agents. You captured the Iranians so they won't push you to go to war with Israel. Stop making excuses for your miseries. Mubarak did not handle the economy well because most of your society does not even care for economy to begin with. You care for what your imams preach at your mosques. Stop making excuses! You make your own future not others. We will find other ways to get gas. And you know it. Now, you need to find ways to sell your gas. .. Good luck!
40. #24 CUT THE NONSENSE
Iranian Jew ,   Los Angeles   (04.23.12)
You will suffer again and more because if this deal. Good luck with your war scenario there. We heard them before. Now, you have to get off your lazy behind and sell gas to other nations. We will be find either way.
41. Good luck!
yesjb ,   Canada   (04.23.12)
What a joke you are! You can go to Cairo and help them shovel shit which is about all you are capable of doing. Egypt is headed to a disaster and you're praising that? How contemptible!
42. A clear violation of sanity!
yesjb ,   Canada   (04.23.12)
Yeah yeah yeah, its always someone else's fault. The Aswan will crumble on its own thanks to the wonderful Egyptian management. I mean why bother improving the country when you can hate Jews instead? Makes perfect sense, dummy?!
43. One thing is guaranteed
yesjb ,   Canada   (04.23.12)
Without Israel there will never be a Palestine. You will be carved up and willingly too by Syria, Joedan and Egypt just like they wanted in 1948
44. arabs fight with everyone
marcel   (04.23.12)
the brotherhood wants who knows what except they want to create tension with israel, and bicker with anyone that moves as we see with nasrollah, with erdogan, with iran. israel gave up the sinai for committments which like the truth gets washed down the toilet. Yaalon has to go into defence as a statement as barak is incapable of handling the southern front. and bibi maybe should resign in favour of ieberman because he won't know what to do and does not have nerves of steel to deal with what is coming. No more egyptian troops should be allowed to enter the sinai.
45. Mohab, give it a rest will ya?
Zohan ,   Tokyo   (04.23.12)
Everybody that can read a newspaper already knows that Egypt's foreign reserves are dwindling to critical levels. Tourism is down and long-term investments are all but on hold. You will be soon be experiencing another "Arab Nightmare" with no end in sight. I mean seriously, what do you have to offer aside from a view of the pyramids (built by ancient Israelites) and some camel rides? Get real will ya?
46. Observer - Egypt
Barry ,   Tokyo   (04.23.12)
you make some good points but will it not be in Egypt's interests to keep selling natural gas to Israel? I mean Israel will soon be swimming in the stuff as soon as the new discoveries come online. They will be able to undercut your prices for exports to Europe. What you need are rational leaders at this juncture in my humble opinion that don't frighten int'l inverstors like the nutcase in Argentina.
47. Not a violation of peace treaty
Mahmoud ,   Egypt   (04.23.12)
Copied from Israeli MFA website http://www.mfa.gov.il/MFA/Peace+Process/Guide+to+the+Peace+Process/Camp+David+Accords.htm would like to see in which term does it exist
48. Israel help Ethiopia divert the Nile waters somwhere else!
Jouko ,   Finland   (04.23.12)
49. good job they are not contracted to supply air to israel
ky   (04.23.12)
50. Looks like Egypt made Israel a favor!
Benjamin ,   Paris   (04.23.12)
Looking at the comments, most of the people said that this decision was good for Israel! Looks like Egypt made Israel a favor by canceling the gas deal, then! Congrats Israel. Thanks to Egypt!
51. The Islamist genie is out of the bottle, the world not
PETER SM ,   AUSTRALIA   (04.23.12)
just Israel will feel the effects. Once in power the Islamists historically take centuries to shift .
52. Taylor Leftist drivel. Islamist victory had nothing to do
(04.23.12)
with Israel. They were well funded, well organised, politically savvy and kept quiet prior to the elections about their Islamist agenda . It certainly was not what the youth in Tahrir square were looking for,to swap one dictatorship with another. There is a peace treaty in place. Islamists want no peace with ANY Israel no matter what the borders. The Muslim Brotherhood and Hamas are one and the same ideologically. What kind of peace and borders is Hamas prepared to accept?
53. Lets get the Sinai back now. Pilgrimmage to mt.sinai, snorkel
hippocrates ,   earth   (04.23.12)
in the red sea...become even more energy efficient. If egypt doesnt play by the rules it agreed to it loses by the rules it agreed to
54. To #19
A. ,   AFULA, ISRAEL   (04.23.12)
Let's not be naive. This is the begining of the end of the Peace Agreement with Egypt , the will of the majority of ignorant anti-Israeli Egyptians and the manipulation of their democratically , bigotted elected government.
55. To Harold, no. 9
Tahl   (04.23.12)
The big loser from this deal is Egypt, as comment #3 summed quite well, while the big loser in the talkbacks is you. Arab spring revolutions "hirt" Israel? "The people is talking"? "Israel has to knock other country's door"? As Sarah advised you earlier, go back to third grade and learn some rudimentary English. Your atrocious mistakes make you look all the more stupid and ridiculous (in case it wasn't obvious beforehand).
56. My comment was for #22 of course.
Tahl   (04.23.12)
57. To all the Egyptians & foreign Jew haters!!
Tom W. ,   Windsor, Canada   (04.23.12)
You people keeping repeating the same old tired propaganda that somehow the Israelis are getting a sweetheart deal regarding the price of natural gas. Here are the true business facts, the Egyptian military as well as illiterate Muslim Brotherhood anti-Semites are comparing apples to oranges. These idiots keep talking about how much the Russians charge some of the E.U. nations like Germany for natural gas delivery. The reason the price is higher than what Israel pays Egypt is due solely to transportation costs--period! It's no different than Egyptians comparing the price of a train ticket from Berlin to Moscow and then saying that they need to charge the same price to travel from Cairo to Alexandria by train. I loathe this recycled old Nazi style propaganda that is constantly used throughout the Arab and Islamic world blaming Jews & Israel by twisting the truth regarding the mechanisms of how economic forces work!
58. This headline makes me so happy
Barrack Hussein OB ,   White House   (04.23.12)
Finally, Egypt you made me proud. La illaha il allah.
59. Pharaohs
S ,   Canada   (04.23.12)
Egypt was great under the Pharaohs but once Islam took hold it slid down the tubes. Same thing with the Persian Empire. The Shah tried to bring it out of the Islamic pit, but the Ayatollahs made sure Iran stayed 3rd world. That's the legacy of Islam.
60. I'm sure the millions of poor hungry Egyptians
Steve from Raleigh   (04.23.12)
Will see it that way. Better they all starve than anything else. Long Live the Muslim Brotherhood.
