1. Right.immorality is like cancer...
ORA ,   JERUSALEM   (05.07.12)
If you don t root it out at the beginning stade,it kills.
2. He is Right
Larry ,   Or Yehuda   (05.07.12)
But the Rabbis are morally corrupt so I guess we need to start checking how many they have murdered
3. We beed to remind the good Rabbi about his own morality
Al   (05.07.12)
Do you remember the episode with his son and his wife? What a putz...
4. True when there is no Heavenly fear, people are apt to kill
(05.07.12)
e.g. Rabin was behind the murder of 16innocent Jews the Altalena ship.
5. ALMOST agree
EM ,   Raanana   (05.07.12)
I almost agree with Amar's position except for the notion that followers of Jewish tradition and modesty are exempt from the problem. This phenomena is affecting our entire society and we see growing violence among all streams, including religious, ultra orthodox, and secular. We can't start to heal if some of the 'wounded' sectors refuse to recognize the demon is within them as well.
6. Religion the biggest killer of mankind
Haim   (05.07.12)
More people have died in the name of religion than any disease known to mankind, so i suggest His Royal Holliness goes and cleans out if own house first, not all of us need to belive in a book of fairy tales to differate between right and wrong.
7. #3 I can seems that you did not understand this article
hadad ,   u.k   (05.07.12)
Also you should not beleve any rabbish you hear about others. We need to respect our rabbis and foolow therir words which are based on the Tora the life manual that G-d gave us for our own benefit and with out them we are lost
8. I beg to disagree chief Rabbi...
Avi ,   Israel   (05.07.12)
Immorality and Zionism lead to murders...
9. Sad to see
Amichai ,   Huntsville, US   (05.07.12)
I converted to Judaism for its beauty & peace-loving nature. I've been to Israel several times and marveled at the way the society was unified while still maintaining individual identity. Tolerance was the norm and crime rates were low - murder was unheard of. It pains me to read more & more about murders taking place in a land where I call all the citizens brother & sister. Regardless of the solution, I'm sure it will involve less fanaticism on all sides. Please Israel, make the move back to family & community values that have kept this type of plague out of the nation & made you a beacon for people like me.
10. he's right
jeff ,   USA   (05.07.12)
these guys usually scare me and remind me of khamenei but i actually sort of agree w/ him on this one... he put it well
11. A fish rots from the head down, rebbe ,...
split ,   US   (05.07.12)
12. Questions to the rabbi
Observant Jew   (05.07.12)
How do you explain the fact that the religious party Shas has had 7 MKs sent to jail? How do you explain the yeshivot that steal millions from the government?
13. ok so now we know y the Amir Bros did what they did...
(05.07.12)
clearly there was some major immorality and liberality in their home...cause for two guys to conspire and assassinate a Prime Minister well...it has got to be a very immoral home! Don't take my word for it...see above for the Rabbis own words!
14. #6 You really need to get your facts straight.
Roman ,   Lod, Israel   (05.07.12)
15. hes right..and im not religous
100% right   (05.07.12)
i am a some what observant Jew..hoping to slowly become more observant he is right the basic principles of the Torah teach us to respect all life.. unfortunately the current education system is ignoring Jewish values thats why unfortunate things like this happen
16. Good words!
Yossef   (05.07.12)
17. The Torah has been given to the Hebrews
Yossef   (05.07.12)
because Hebrews need boundary, and the Torah IS the boundary. The jewish people is a rude people, the jewish people needs a law to live in peace one with each other. It is the role of the Torah. No Torah, no civilization.
18. Chief Rabbi Amar's son admits to charges of abduction, abuse
Ehud   (05.07.12)
Nov 2005 - was in all papers. That's the outcome of a good non-liberal torah-value education this stupid hypocrite has in mind. Rest assured that each of the perpetrators will have a kippah on his head when entering the court room, since most violent criminals "see the light" after some killing, raping, or beating. Sick and tired of religious idiots who build on respect of seculars for tradition and a short memory
19. #12 & #13 Thanks to corrupt secular justice system
(05.07.12)
20. We Love You Rabbi Tzadik Amar
Yohanan ,   Israel   (05.07.12)
You are a light that burns the sinners and makes happiness to the righteous. Thank you Rabbi Amar!
21. Iniquity
Carl van Zijll de Jo ,   Lincoln, NZ   (05.07.12)
Iniquity (teaching religious error) leads to murder... leads to total destruction (stopping it from functioning). Point the finger at them... the religious pious!
22. To #3 and #18 - you are dead wrong
Besalel ,   Great Neck, NY   (05.08.12)
Amar's son was not religious. He left the fold. Perhaps, Amar is lamenting the decline of values and pegging it on failure to heed to traditions because he saw it in his own son's demise.
23. #14 you really need to take a reality pill
Haim ,   TA   (05.07.12)
24. 100% Agreement
Danny Gold ,   Jerusalem, Israel   (05.08.12)
The Chief Rabbi has reminded us all that Am Israel is trying to be "Jewish" without the God of the Bible or the teachings passed down from Generation to Generation but as he stated, it can't work this way. Israeli society has replaced the fear of God with self-worship. How can we expect right behavior from a society that rejects God? I'm not saying that everyone must be "religious." I'm not "religious" but I do believe in God, try to follow the 10 commandments and I'm expecting the Mashiach to come! Israeli society must return to God if we expect our children live in a right way.
25. Look who is talking
ANONIMOUS JERUSALEM ,   jerusalem   (05.08.12)
the chief rabinate is as guilty for murders commited in israel as the individes that perform the act! and thats the truth on how bad things are doing in this country todat
26. What a hypocrites!
John ,   Europe   (05.08.12)
I was religious and I've NEVER, EVER seen as much wickedness and evil as I've seen in religious communities! The predominant mentality is: read 2 times Shma, read 3 times Amidah, read 3 times Ashre Yoshve and do whatever you want, including the wickest gossip, THEFT (oh, yes, I've never seen so much greed as I've seen in religious communities! Greed there is disastrous!), sleeping with your friend's wife and not helping a single JEWISH (Jewish!) friend that is in need! I've seen Tzedaka boxes howling empty, but I've seen people who don't want to wear a LEATHER BELT - not shoes! - on YOM KIPPUR because of the "Zohar attitude" (It is great thing that that particular member took money from us, JEWS, here and disappeared in Israel).
27. How could this happen?
Tzipih ,   Israel   (05.08.12)
How can it be, the the chief rabinute has no connection to reality or the people of israel, what ever it may happen, it most be some sort of rality checking. Personaly the religious haredi world cost me the lost of my child, I lost him in maternal stress, and guess who were behind...Im just waiting until the responsable/rabbis answer for their crimes. This is not a mamb- jambo story. Haredi means criminality to me today. Either people have just criminal minds or play stupid or are infact retarded, I don't know. It is a tragedy, what is going on with young people in Israel today, but my G'd everybody do what ever they want in the name of judaism, and the rabbis have just made it millions of times worst.
28. #6 Haim ~ Great Point!
Shmuli ,   The North   (05.08.12)
Hi Haim, you made a great point! Unfortunately, it is actually one of, if the the most often quoted myths. The "Biggest Killer of Mankind," is in fact ATHEISM. Hitler, Mao, and Stalin killed more people in the quest for perfect atheistic societies than all the Crusades, Jihads, and Holy Wars combined. Remember, always look to the history before we make knee-jerk responses.
29. 26 John,if you would have a good eye
ORA ,   JERUSALEM   (05.08.12)
which is not the case, you might have seen lots of good things in the Haredi world. Shame on you!.
30. Critical Judgment
Sailor ,   USA   (05.09.12)
#7: One of the largest problems in this world is that too many people listen to their religious leaders (rabbis, etc) without using their own critical judgment to test whether what was said makes sense, that then choose or not choose to follow what was said.
