1. They won't
israel israeli ,   tel aviv   (05.22.12)
Arabs need new leaders, but they will never get them. Every sane and honest Arab leader is killed or marginalized by Leftist economic interests. In Judea and Samaria, the messianic Left imported Arafat who immediately murdered the peace-loving Arab leaders. In the rest of Israel, police, courts and politicians let corrupt crime families run all Arab cities, making it impossible for Israeli Arab youth to grow up normally.
2. Arabs need new leaders?
tiki ,   belgium   (05.22.12)
No, Arabs need a new mentallity! They should STOP their complaining, their whining, their anger & their agression! They should STOP upmarketing lies & deceit as an art form! **Complaining & whining about the past won't change the present! **Continuous anger & agression will only bring more anger & agression. **Lies will bring only more lies, so that in the end you will be strangled in your own deceitfull web. When will they learn from the Jews who have libraries full of experiance on this topic.
3. An insightful article
Mark ,   KS, Israel   (05.22.12)
I wish more people would read this article and believe the truths spoken in it. And sadly it applies not only to our fellow "Arab-Israeli" citizens, but to all citizens of this beautiful and special land. If the tyrants that rule in the Middle East could tear themselves away from their own self serving agenda's, focus on the people and their countries well being, they too would see this truth. I would wager, speak to any Palestinian, Arab-Israeli, Jewish Israeli, Syrian, Iranian, South African, Morrocan, Libyan etc. etc. and one truth would come out: We all strive for the same things; a better future for our children, a roof over our heads, a decent meal on the table, security and peace. Maslow's heirachy of needs is the perfect model! And readers, you would be surprised at how many of our so called or believed enemies actually no not want ongoing hatred and violence that is perpetuated by these tyrannical, goose-stepping leaders. Imagine......
4. To: Amar Jara
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (05.22.12)
Why do you bite the hand that feeds and succors you? Have you addressed the scores of Jewish children that have been massacred by Arab terrorists? Do the children of Nazareth even KNOW how many missiles and mortars have been fired at Israeli civilian centers from Gaza? It is well known that Arab leadership is corrupt and doesn't give a fig about the people they purport to serve. Yet you should also be aware that growing up in Israel has afforded you numerous opportunities that would simply not be available to you in Arab lands, and a standard of living that is unparalleled in the Arab world. You attended one of the top universities in the world. This is how you thank Israel for the education you received, or the medical care you received? By faulting Arab leadership? How about looking a little closer to home? And if you're that miserable in Israel, why not pull up stakes and move to Ramallah, where you can work towards building a thriving ersatz "Palestinian" state? Or do you prefer simply to stay put, bad-mouth Israel from the safety of Israel's protection of free speech and let someone else build the ersatz "Palestinian" state? That's why you'll never have one, by the way. Contemplate the possibility that we really don't enjoy having you and your brainwashed children in our midst. Had you half a brain, you would support Israel unquestioningly. Should an ersatz "Palestinian" state ever come about (granted, not likely) -- we will allow you to fulfill your starry-eyed nightmare and send you there. Good luck. Until then, please do not bite the hand that has fed you and enabled you to realize your goals. And what have YOU ever done for Israel, your country?
5. Definition of Nakba: Failed Arab genocide of Jews
Steven Gilbert ,   Teaneck   (05.22.12)
Rest assured, had the Arabs prevailed in 1948, the Jewish inhabitants of Palestine would have been slaughtered.
6. about time. to bad it will take so long.

7. #4 Sarah B You misread this!
Mark ,   KS, Israel   (05.22.12)
Sarah Normally I agree with your sentiments (your genuine postings) and your insight, but you misread this article totally! It was not, repeat not a condemnation on Israel or the Israeli leaders, but rather a well balanced "attack" on the Arab leadership both within and outside of Israel. Amar Jaba was very clearly and significantly pointing out that the chosen leaders of the Arab-Israelis, chosed by them to represent them in the Knesset are not doing their job, neither are those in the PA etc. And this was the Arab Spring she warns about - about the Arab-Israeli and Palestinian needing to find new leaders who represent them, not the leaders self serving goals. She is clearly stating that the youth are failing dismally because of the lack of Arab-Israeli leadership and NOT because of the facilities provided by the State of Israel. Hey, I am all for the maxim that if you live in our country, our rules, our religion, our moral fibre etc, but these are good people who actually do love Israel and want to succeed here, but are let down by the leadership elected in their communities! I think you should retract your #4 talkback, it was aimed about as well as a Katusha! And be thankful for the Arab Spring, it has kept the world distracted from Israel for once!
8. in Israel arabs are their own worst enemy not the Jews
zionist forever   (05.22.12)
You want the arab spring to arrive here well your going about it the wrong way. 1) Stop defining yourselves as Palestinians, your either Israelis or your Palestinians but you can't be both especially as the Palestinians didn't come into existence as a people in their own right until 1964 with the formation of the PLO. Make up your mind what you want to be but don't try and be both. 2) If you want to be Israelis then end this nakba day where you mourn the creation of the country your citizens of. If the nakba is so important to you then hand in your Israeli citizenship because you can't mourn the creation of a country if you want to be a citizen of it. 3) Get rid of the arab parties and instead vote mainstream, the good for nothing arab parties are a waste of a vote. When was the last time an MK from an arab party was invited into a coalition? 4) Tell your good for nothing MKS like Tibi & Zouabi to stop acting like enemies of the state and act like serious politicians who care about the country not the arab interests alone. We had Bishra go and tell Hezbollah information he had gathered through his position as an MK let them know the best places to fire their rockets on during Lebanon 2006. Tibi was an advisor to Arafat and at Camp David even told him not to do any deal that doesn't include right of return. 5) Why can't you arabs stand for Hatikvah? You want to be Israeli citizens and Hatikvah is the national anthem of this country and even if the words have no meaning to you out of respect you should stand and sing. In the UK the anthem is God Save the Queen, England has its fair share of republicans and so they don't want a queen but when there is an event which you have to stand and sing the anthem for they don't refuse and say those words mean nothing to me. They know and accept the reality that for now at least there is a queen and so they respect that don't say we refuse to recognise the countries right to exist as a monarchy. 6) The government is planning to get rid of the Tal Law and force both arabs & haredi to do either military or some form of civilian national service. We know the haredi excuse is they want to dedicate their time to Torah study but why are the arabs refusing even civilian service? Jews have to do military service ( protect you lot ) but you can't even do civilian national service, something to help the community... the haredi at least have a reason thats understandable arabs don't. Decide now if you want to be a bunch of losers who nobody in the country has any respect for or if you want to be loyal Israeli citizens and if you don't want to be loyal citizens then give hand in your passport become loyal citizens of Hamastan. The entire arab race are their own worst enemies only difference is some have money to burn others don't but politically your all idiots.
9. As an Israeli-Arab
Rami of Nazareth ,   Israel   (05.22.12)
I whole heartedly agree with this article, that is why I never vote for the arabic parties. They do not represent me nor look after my best interest. We can do a lot to improve our situation.
10. @#4 clueless as usual
avramele   (05.22.12)
Here you have an Israeli Arab who seeks a practical rapproachment with his country Israel, who seeks fair treatment and practical reforms and who understands that jobs, civil rights and a fair share of the state budget are more important than refighting the 1948 war. Yet rather than agreeing to walk even part way with the man you mock and belittle his call for a new reformist Arab leadership. Your language and approach are mean spirited, short sighted, and counter productive. How sad and how shameful Ms. B.
11. mr. jara, sir,
(05.22.12)
i commend you for your honesty and clear vision. all your leaders ever did is try in all their might to alianate israeli arabs from israeli society, make their constituents hate the state in which they live, encourage them to rebel and not recognize this state and showed their constituents their actions on the mavi maramara, for example, as the right course for arab israelis. it didn't work because all their actions isolated the israeli arabs from the national israeli fabric. and in doing so, the only sufferers were their ocnstituents themselves. yes, get rid of all arab knesset members. they are not good for you. they will only bring you down and isolate you further. choose leaders that will make peace, bring you closer, serve as role models for co existence and for integration of all arab israelis into the society. only in this way, with good caring leaders, will the arab society in israel succeed.
12. Reform needed in Israeli Arab politics
Clear Thinker ,   Haifa, Israel   (05.22.12)
Amar Jara, thanks for your clear thinking. I hope you succeed in your effort to reform Israeli Arab politics.
13. About time some one has said this
William ,   Israel   (05.22.12)
More Israeli Arabs need to stand up and take back their representation as fellow Israeli citizens. Israeli Arab MKs have a unique position to bridge between the cultures and create peace, but rather are the biggest obstacle and promote racism while siding with enemies of Israel. Such a shame to squander a golden opportunity but then again, there is no money in promoting peace or running a govt well. Violence and instability all breed corruption.

15. Re #4
Bertram ,   London, UK   (05.22.12)
I am wondering whether the ersatz Sarah B is really a robot with an audio loop. There is never a thought-out response to what is being said since the same message is repeated endlessly. More seriously, so off-the-wall are her pronouncements that perhaps she will eventually be unmasked as an anti-Zionist agent provocateur.
16. Tiki #2 I think you are missing the point
Gee ,   Zikron Yaakov   (05.22.12)
Whining and complaining are Israeli national sports. So he is acting like an Israeli. Hell most of us want new leadership too - Bibi is a gutless leftist wonder. No Mr. Jara is starting at the right place, but he needs to take control of his own life as well. If he wants to throw in with Israel - then do so and if Arab parties don't provide what they are looking for then maybe they need to look out of the Arab parties. There are several Arabs in leadership positions in several different non-Arab parties. But asking an Israeli to stop complaining is like asking the Sun to rise in the West. You can ask but it ain't going to happen
17. (16) Gee
tiki ,   belgium   (05.22.12)
I do get it! Israeli whining & complaning is the sport that 'if it would be accepted in the Olympics, Israel would be dressed in gold! Wanting to change a leader is OK. Problem with the Arabs is that they always vote for the same type of bad guy again & again. It's like the woman/man always falling into the same trap of going out with a person, who is a copy of the one they just got rid of.
18. Amar Jara, be that leader
Israella   (05.22.12)
and get rid of the useless people who purport to represent you in the Knesset, in your municipalities, in your towns and villages. I am glad you named, and shamed the ones who have failed you so miserably. Start campaigning now, you will be amazed at the support you will receive.
19. Arab leadership reform needs Jewish partners
Avramele   (05.22.12)
Reform of Arab leadership will only be effective if Israeli society and mainstream parties are ready to work toward redressing the very real issues in Arab society: discrimation, jobs, more education dollars, infrastructure, and yes respect for the dignity and history of the people with whom we share the land. Arabs will cast off their Zuabis when Jews cast off our Danny Dannons.
20. I agree, but we need better Jewish leaders too.
Brian Cohen ,   Judean Peoples Front   (05.22.12)
There should indeed be more and better leadership training for all citizens, Arabs and Jews. I'm sickened by some of the Jewish drek that make it to the Knesset. Feh! And while on the subject of Jewish leadership, it's time to take Shas and Aguda and turn them upside down. It's not just me who is sick and tired of "rabbi" politicians chasing the billions of shekels to line the pockets and look out for their own communities instead of clal yisrael.
21. Jews need better leaders much more than Arabs.
Chaim ,   Israel   (05.22.12)
Arabs may decry their leaders. However, Jews need better leaders much more than Arabs. When was the last time an Arab leader offered to cede Arab land for mere words? Or for anything? When was the last time an Arab leader fawned over U.S. President Obama? One could go on and on indefinitely in this vein.
22. Amar Jara, please keep writing for Ynet

Wim ,   Ge   (05.22.12)
A bit too much credit there. Its nothing more than a virulent hasbarat poster that types before the brain registers.
24. Wow, astounding! Amar you are the new leadership
Yossef   (05.23.12)
It's the second paper I read today, on Ynet, written by an Arab and which leaves me without voice. I used to teach at the HUJI, I am happy to see that our campus is able to build the new leadership of the Arab sector in our country. I wish you Amar full success, we need you to make israel a better place. Thanks!
25. #4 Sarah, you are so wrong, it is sad...
Yossef   (05.23.12)
26. Mabrook, Habibi!
Jewish King ,   US/Israel   (05.23.12)
Shalom, Salam Amar! We need thousands and thousands more like you. Israeli Arabs like you are a credit to the Arab AND Jewish community. Yalla, Habibi, Yalla!!
27. Yeah,dream on Jara! Arab mind benefits neither from
tom ,   tel aviv   (05.23.12)
education ( unless it is for aquireing aviation-skills to fly into a building/construct a better suicide-belt) or social equality systems of the West (they still throw their daughters/sisters out of 7-th floor windows in honor-killings in Europe) No Jara: you need New People!
28. A call to my fellow Arab citizens: integrate now!!
Jehudah Ben-Israel ,   Qatzrin, Israel   (05.23.12)
Take matters to you own hands and integrate into Israeli society. You don't need any leaders to do it for you. You don't need, but you will to do so, since the Jewish sector in Israel is awaiting you with hopes and expectations. First, ensure that all you children and youth study Hebrew. Second, upon finishing high school, join the Israel Armed Forces (IDF) or alternatively, Israel's Police. Third, upon finishing full term of military service go to work, men and women alike. Fourth, don't vote for the Apartheid-like Arab parties that you leaders have set up for you. Vote and take an active part in the political life of Israel through the general political parties, left, right and center. Once the Jewish community is convinced that you are not to be part of those eager to bring about Israel's demise, you too will be part of the full integrated part of the nation-state of the Jewish people, Israel.
