31. Finalizing Israel's borders
Menachem ,   Israel   (06.11.12)
The 1920 San Remo Conference recognized all of Eretz Israel and areas east of the Jordan river as the homeland of the Jewish people. However, due to political realities on the ground, Jordan is today an independent Arab-Hashemite state and most Israelis oppose to annex the large and hostile Arab population in Judea/Samaria. Conclusion: Israel's future borders will exclude the Arab population in Gaza and Judea/Samaria but its exact position can only be established after a final peace settlement which requires Arab recognition of the Jewish nation-state.
32. Israel's enemies not "world community" hold the key
Eyal ,   Israel   (06.11.12)
Defining Israel's final future borders requires Arabs recognition of the Jewish nation-state and an end of Arab aggression against the reestablished Jewish national independence in the ancestral Jewish homeland Israel. Israel of 2012 still only has internationally recognized borders with Egypt and Jordan as a result of the signed formal peace treaties with these states.
33. BORDERS: ANNEX AREA C WHICH IS LESS THAN 10% ARAB
Scott ,   Ramat Gan, Israel   (06.11.12)
34. In many states, this article would qualify as treason.
Chaim ,   Israel   (06.11.12)
In many states, calling for hostile foreigners to impose their will upon your state would meet the definition of treason. Israel needs treason laws with teeth and the determination to enforce them.
35. what are epiphanies for?
michael ,   zurich   (06.11.12)
maybe the author is right. but first it is not particularly new and secondly it might be instructive to ponder why it has not been implemented in this neat suggestive form. anyhow, if someone suddenly changes his mind on something he has been thinking about for the whole of his life, I suggest to take this as a boon. change the focus of your attention and redirect it towards self-observation. you might learn something.
36. Setting borders in lebanon and gaza worked
Danny   (06.11.12)
So obviously should be repeated. You are not a traitor or anti-semitic, just a moron
37. Might want to consult international laws
Gee ,   Zikron Yaakov   (06.11.12)
First off the Franco-British Boundary Committee did establish the borders. Second the Mandate for Palestine made them impossible to change. Third - International Law specifically states that the world cannot have any say in the matter - Try the UN Charter
38. Only China can help!!
Wang Zuli ,   Shanghai   (06.11.12)
If Israeli leaders leave to Beijing and asking for helps, China will help.
39. "all those years in which we were a light unto the nations"
split ,   US   (06.11.12)
Yeah right ;) ,...
40. Not uncommon for the far-left to seek US intervention
Sam ,   Canada   (06.11.12)
it's not uncommon that the far-left cannot get Israel to apply their minority appeasing formulas. So, they appeal to the US to force Israel to do so. The majority seems resigned to putting up with them.
41. The healine was enough for me
michael redbourn ,   Arad Israel   (06.11.12)
Israel is militarily stronger than it's been for at least ten years and its enemies are tearing each other to pieces. Europe is in a state of collapse both financially and because of Islamicization, neither of which Israel can help with. America is in decline and is unlikely to fully recover. Israel's economy is in great shape and Iran's economy is about to collapse and Turkey's is in decline. Hopefully the above will explain why I didn't bother reading past the headline.
42. #34 Chaim - The best talkback. Well said!
Tracy W   (06.11.12)
43. BIG ISRAEL: historically FAIR&JUST, practical BALANCE&PEACE.
Jerry ,   The Netherlands   (06.11.12)
44. 41 Well done Michael
ORA ,   JERUSALEM   (06.11.12)
The way we think about ourselves, sets the standard for others.
45. Sally, #2
eldar ,   Haifa   (06.11.12)
Sally, I am long-time leftist, activist, boycotter of settlement products. I think the continued colonization of the West Bank and the continued witch hunt against professors, journalists, NGO representatives and other "leftists" is McCarthyism re-incarnate. I'm also a teacher, a father, a Zionist, a Jew, a tax-payer and a former soldier. I'm also your neighbor. Shall I expect your arrival with a torch, a burning cross and an attack dog?
46. Ray, #7
eldar ,   Haifa   (06.11.12)
Oh Ray. You must know what would have been had we STAYED in Lebanon and Gaza? Our soldiers routinely targeted by the entire local population, weekly reports of the dead, our sons chasing terrorists into dense population centers, endless ACTIVE reserve duty under fire, continued occupation of millions of Palestinians and Lebanese. Take your colonial fetishes and historiography elsewhere, please.
47. #45 I'm also YOUR neighbor!
Leah Goldsmith ,   Itamar, Israel   (06.11.12)
Dearest neighbor! I am a teacher, a mother, a zionist, a taxpayer, a Jew and our 2 sons both serve in elite units of Tzahal proudly. I am a settler, living in the HEART of Israel, a mere 40 minute drive equidistantly to Jerusalem and Tel Aviv. We may carry the torch- but one of patriotism and dedication to Israel's heart and soul. Your welcome for the service we are doing by covering your backside!
48. eldar #46
Gee ,   Zikron Yaakov   (06.11.12)
You might want to consider the facts. We incurred far more casualities AFTER leaving both Lebanon and Gaza than we did when we were there. Also the number of attacks tripled or more since then as well. Not exactly the smartest act ever done.
49. #45.eladar- We all fight for Israel in our own way, I was
Abraham ben Jacob ,   Canada   (06.12.12)
not a soldier like you but I am just an average Jew who has tried to present Israel's case in the newspapers, Universities and gone up against trained pro-arab speakers. These pro-Arab people and the arabs consider you in Haifa also to be a colonizer because the Arabs claim all the land including yours in Haifa. It sure weakens the merits of Israel's case when some Israelis themselves view some of their own neighbors as colonisers and occupiers and boycott thier goods. Eldar, in the eyes of the Arabs and their supporters you are no better when you live in Haifa or in a "settlement".
50. #46
Danny   (06.12.12)
Are you on crack? The second intifada was a direct result of pulling out of Lebanon. The Second Lebanon war was a direct result of pulling out of Lebanon. The long range missiles in Gaza are a direct result of pulling out of Gaza. You would have to be mentally retarded to think Israel's position became better after pulling out.
51. Israel doesn't need saving
Daniel ,   Netherlands   (06.12.12)
It's doing just fine, thank you
52. Israel is no longer in the ghetto
Zev ,   Israel   (06.12.12)
Time to stand up for our rights and not be stepped on by the world. The left are still in the ghetto and think that by giving in they will make the fritz happy. Time to stop all of this B.S. The world will respect us for clearly stating our intentions and keeping what is rightfuly ours.
53. An article written by a Israeli with vision and common sense
Elias   (06.12.12)
That must be a first for Ynet
54. Glick is a fool!
Taz Man ,   USA   (06.12.12)
God bless, Israel and HIS land and HIS Jerusalem!
55. Saving Israel
Floriane ,   Israel   (06.12.12)
#7 you are right! You sure need more studying how about withdrawing from Sinai? Do you call peace all the weapons being stored there from Hamas?
56. #46. Permanently end the lunacy of Israeli retreat.
Chaim ,   Israel   (06.12.12)
#46. Every single Israeli retreat is an absolute disaster. In fact, virtually all of Israel's worst problems are direct results of Israeli retreats. Why did have to fight two wars in Lebanon (with more likely)? Because of our retreat from our Security Zone in South Lebanon. Why did we have to fight out last war in Gaza? Because of our retreat from Gaza. Why do we suffer rockets from Gaza? Because of our retreat from Gaza. One could go on and on in this vein. We must permanently end the lunacy of Israeli retreat.
57. Jordan valley Right of Return
Zivron   (06.12.12)

michael Pielet ,   israel   (06.12.12)
elder, h,i to the colonizer, settler. I am boycotting everything that comes out of Haifa. go back to where you came from, Haifa is occupied land.
59. and what did we do wrong before '67 to get attacked
jericho ,   caus   (06.12.12)
and when we give it back will that reason come back? What are you thinking. there is no 2 state solution. look at Gaza. do you want Hezbo-Iran and al-kaida in west bank too. are you crazy or just hate yourself. Dor it will be good if you can find your father when you were growing up. Now go out and find your own balls.
60. Dor it impossible to "save" Israel from Hezbo and Kaida
jericho ,   caus   (06.12.12)
