31. Before Israel can even consider a war
A ,   Belgium   (07.06.12)
they have to get rid of Ehud "Creampuff" Barak ASAP! In fact, they don't even need war as an excuse. His only legacy in Lebanon was a disaster, for Israel and for the Lebanese Christian allies he deserted. Barak must GO!
32. Yes, the inept Barak musrt be fired. Yaalon
Reuven   (07.06.12)
would make an excellent5 Defense Minister. Barak is the idiot who armed our Navy commandos with paintball guns!
33. Israel dosen't fire first, just "pre-emptive" firing.

Since the Jewish State has effective anti-missile defenses, it would seem that Beirut would suffer from the IAF as the cities of Germany and Japan did in WW2 from the USAAF and the RAF.Besides, who is to say that the IDF would not use nuclear devices to destroy once and for all the military machines of Lebanon and Syria.Rediculous! You say,but it could happen to save Israeli lives.
35.  Nasrallah keeps his army embedded amongst civillians
PETER SM ,   MELBOURNE AUSTRALIA   (07.06.12)
The hidden coward (what honor?) knows he will be the last to be hurt. Normal people who care for their civillians fight outside the population centers. Nasrallah like Hamas know they can depend on the likes of the UN HRC flunky Goldstone & his team to be"shocked" when Israel returns fire to its source. They can also depend on sections of the Israeli media to publish, one side only, hearsay as fact, to be taken up uncritically by the BBC, Indepedent CNN etc etc.

The US can barely look after itself with one out of five living on food stamps.
37. #26 Jake. Israel must retake ALL our abandoned lands.
Chaim ,   Israel   (07.06.12)
#26 Jake. When I noted that Israel must retake Gaza forever, I certainly didn't mean to imply only Gaza. Israel must retake ALL our abandoned lands. Israeli retreat is the source of virtually all our most serious problems.
38. to #17, "funny"
tom ,   toronto, canada   (07.06.12)
you wrote: "if beirut is touched we will all back hizbollah and tel aviv will turn to rubble ." i'm sorry, but beirut will be more than "touched", because you have let hezbollah build its presence there, and throughout lebanon. hezbollah is a terrorist organization, and by letting it build up an army within your country, you have given up your sovereignty to a bunch of ruthless terrorists, who will use you, and your women and children, as human shields for their rocket launchers and bunkers. if you don't like this, don't come and complain on an israeli web site, or make silly threats about turning tel aviv to rubble - clean up your own house!

you have no idea how wrong you are about bibi.
40. Wildest statement ever to appear on YNET, #3
Cameron ,   USA   (07.06.12)
That is the absolutely last place on the planet that Israeli forces want to find themselves bogged down in. 18 years of screwing around in S. Lebanon in the name of a "Security Zone" led to the true rise of Hez, and their primacy over all other Leb groups. Security zone? Exceedingly obsolete concept in this tech and missile era. No, the next rumble with the Lebs will be extremely fast, vicious, and done from a distance. You'll win, but your civilians are going to take a pounding.
41. #28 marc
solomon ,   bklyn   (07.06.12)
The purpose of cluster bombs is to defend against enemy forces. It was a rational act. And it will happen again if necessary. Or are you saying that Israel can only fire as many bullets as there are people who want to kill them? Your post is dubious.

1. Hezbollah's rockets will mostly be shot out of the sky by the Iron Dome and David's Sling. 2. The IDF will quickly destroy most of Hezbollah's long-range rocket stocks, as it did in the last war.
43. #42 per the IDF there are over 50000 missiles
spyguy ,   seattle usa   (07.06.12)
pointed at Israel population centers and the Iron Dome systems can only defend against less than 5% of those missiles. By my reckoning, that means Israelis are going to have to quickly dig holes to hide from the other 95% of the missiles raining down on them. Don't start wars if you can't take the punishment. The rest of the world has caught up with Israel in weapons technology. Israel has no "secret super weapons." Have a nice war.
44. Marc Dont like cluster munitions? Complain to Nasrallah
PETER SM ,   MELBOURNE AUSTRALIA   (07.06.12)
Don't like war? Complain to Nasrallah,he started it..Dont like military build up and command & controll in Lebanese towns & cities. Write Al Manaar ! Cluster munitions was to clear out Hezballah who were firing from the area.Israel was not firing from amongst civillians yet Hezballah fired thousands of shrapnell filled missiles designed to cause maximum wounding & death at Israeli towns and cities. Missed all that did you? We Israel supporters see your one eyed preaching at Israel from the safety of your homes far away, as a bad joke. Its a tough neighborhood, look at what they do to each other . No problems there either eh?
45. phillip
sam sungelmann   (07.06.12)
phillip . please remember the 2006 war and the destruction it caused . i served with the lebanese red cross . i saw the fake victory of hizbollah . over 800 of them died . they threatened us if we released any figures . in south lebanon , cancer rates are up 5 times . so please phillip , wake up and stop listening to nasrallah bullshit .
46. it is called deterrence
(07.06.12)
the idea was simple marcel . it was to teach the shia that when they hit israel , neither they nor their children will enjoy their land . i think this is what happens when a militia provokes the strongest army in the middle east
47. # 41 cluster bomlets killed and maimed
ben   (07.06.12)
small children long after the cease fire. Look at the picture of the 4 or 5 year old child with no arms and legs.PS most of the cluster bombs were fired in the finall hours of the war when a cease fire was iminent.
48. #43, and they fired some 20,000
Danny   (07.06.12)
in that last war. Which country do you think came off worse in that exchange?
49. #44, don't like lies about munitions complain to Ha'aretz
Danny   (07.06.12)
or Meron Rappaport. He made a claim that "up to 1,800" rockets were fired into Lebanon working out to over a million bomblets - this was based on a sargeant who heard from a captain who heard from someone else. This then became a million cluster bombs then 3 million and now finally we apparently have hit 4 million. Real figure less than 1,100 bombs with less than 200,000 bomblets, causing around 30deaths in 6 years according to UN figures which became suspiciously hard to find once it proved harder to find those non-existent cluster bombs.....
50. You BET things will be different...FIFTH COLUMN
Sammy ,   Newcastle   (07.06.12)
Who is Lebanons GREATEST enemy? None other than Hezbollah...Arrogantly assuming the title of Lebanons Protector? Make no mistake. Hezbollah is a Proxy Iran who want to use Lebanon to launch attacks on to Israel and Lebanon takes the pain and destruction No more...How many militia do you think are prepared to act as the Fifth Column if there was another war started by Hezbollah against Israel? A few hundred? Think again...More like 15-20000 so that we can finish the job weve wanted for a decade
51. Leave Hisbollah to us
SyrianFreedomEagle   (07.06.12)
You guys failed completely in wiping off Hisb Khameini. Once we finished assad, we will use some of our chemical weapons to clear Southern Lebanon.
52. #47 Shame on Hezbollah
Cynthia ,   USA   (07.06.12)
When Hezbollah started the war in 2006 by firing 200-300 katyusha rockets at Israeli civilian populations, they knew full well children would be injured and killed. When they fired these rockets from within civilian populations in Lebanon, they purposely put the Lebanese at risk. And how many times did Hezbollah break the ceasefire before the war ended? Send your complaints and photos of injured children to Nasrallah and his handlers in Iran.
53. Syrianfreedomeagle no 51.
JUDAH THE LION   (07.06.12)
Israel will DARE any Islamic or non Islamic country to use chemical weapons on Israel. Israel will retaliate by using weapons that they will make the people on BBQ Dont even think about it Mr dead EAGLE
54. @53
SyrianFreedomEagle   (07.06.12)
All options are on the table and they will remain on the table. The options will even be extended as time goes on. The lion of Damascus is facing his end. And you are the next lion to face your end.
55. Libanon is an artifical state.
Istvan ,   BUDAPEST HUNGARY   (07.06.12)
It was invented after WWI on the official desks of british and french politicians. But Israel is not artifical and its northern natural border is the Litani river. Two tribes of ancient Izrael Kingdom Gad and Naftali were living in the area. I think it is not hopeless to create a druze christian entity in that land, which would unite later with Israel.
56. To #55
jgets ,   Thessaloniki Greece   (07.06.12)
You are on the right track. The worsening situation in Syria , while regrettable from a humanitarian standpoint, will present some opportunities. Christian refugees from Syria and Iraq should be evacuated and settled along the Lebanese and Syrian coast.. This will save their lives and help to stabilize the region.
57. I hope.....
Sheik rattle & roll ,   USA   (07.06.12)
the IDF takes care of business the next time. I believe it will be an all out slug fest, I just hope at the end of the day the bearded Hezbollah monkey meets his maker. I just hope it is contained to Lebanon and not Syria because I believe Assad of Syria would love to fight Israel to deflect attention from his horrible situation now.

Both your posts are figments of your own imaginations. Somewhat interesting posts. Lousy imaginations.
59. #34 Moshe of Rockville
Marco ,   Spain   (07.07.12)
Your post provides the best argument for Iranian nukes... Who says that Iran does not already have nukes? Iran and the Arabs do have the strategic depth to absorb a nuclear attack, however, one tiny Iranian nuke at Gush Dan and Israel is history pal...

Thank you for a touch of reality. And kol ha'kavod that you served with the Red Cross, helping people, not killing them.
