You still don't get it.The "it" is the Iranian government's obsession with the destruction of Israel.Israel has had no such preoccupation with Iran, and would like to live in peace, even with this venomous, Islamist theocracy. But the Jewish State has the capability to send the government of Iran back to the stone age. As a reminder, Israel has reportedly 200-400 nuclear devices with the capacity to deliver them by ground, sea and air-borne missiles. Before the Arabs and Iran reach the imminent state of attack against the Jewish State, they would all be gone in a very quick flash of nuclear explosions. While a nuclear attack against Israel has the potential to cripple the Jewish State, Jordan, Lebanon,Syria and Egypt are sufficiently close to be seriously effected. Because of this potential, the international community would also become finally involved. The US & Israel have a very close defensive arrangement, but the Israeli government will act alone, if necessary, prevent any imminent threat of devastation.

solomon ,   bklyn   (07.08.12)
Israel will lie down, roll over, and play dead, when it is threatened. They didn't in '67 when cries for Israels destruction were heard throughout the arab world, and many arab countries were getting organized to make it come true. And Israel ain't gonna lie down now. What you think, what you wish, just doesn't count.

Do you even know what Israel has in its arsenal? Trust me -- if Israel sells weapons systems, it is only because they have become obsolete for Israel's purposes -- in other words, superseded by something far, far better. And still, countries are chomping at the bit to acquire Israel's obsolete weapons systems. Moreover, all the article points out is that if Lebanon engages Israel, the Israeli response will not be swift, direct and brutal. Do keep that in mind. Too bad for the Lebanese civilian population -- but Hezbollah would be solely to blame for that. Forgive me for caring more about the life of an Israeli child than I do for an indoctrinated-with-hatred-for-Jews Lebanese child. There is no such thing as a "nice war." There are, however, such things as swift wars. If Lebanon engages Israel -- whether through the Lebanese army or through Hezbollah -- Lebanon's end will be quite swift. Are you such a moron that you think that Israel will sit around allowing missiles to fall in its population centers? Or do you think that Israel may exercise one of its more lethal options, and destroy Southern Lebanon from the roots up?
70. Look at the photo of Nasrallah
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (07.08.12)
Several months ago, in one of his silly broadcasts from the Hezbollah Fuhrerbunker, his beard was slightly shot through with grey. In a very short time, it has turned white. I guess he's very worried ....
71. Where is Al-Quaeda when they are needed?
Aaron   (07.09.12)
Nasrallah's beard has gone white because of what he has to deal with nowadays. His hiding place in Damascus is getting awfully loud, while the sectarian violence he supported in Lebanon and Iraq is coming to a corner near him. Very soon he'll have to leave Syria and hide in Lebanon, which means he'll be targeted by the IDF, Al-Quaeda, Sunni groups, Maronite groups, and the rest of the 'Cedar Armies'. He has a big mouth when Lebanese have to pay for his crap, let's see how they pay him back (and Leb's ALWAYS pay back insults).

..... and so he should be! If I had to go to war, I'd hate to think I'd have to face the Isryeli's!

74. lots of burning tanks
bill ,   canada   (07.21.12)
that was the result of the last lebanon war; and a bunch of apt buildings bombed; a more confident enemy ( burning idf tanks did this); a better armed enemy; each new war makes a stronger enemy; israel never destroys the enemy; israel empowers it; talk more and shoot less
75. Short-sightedness
Nahum ,   R.HaSharon Israel   (08.08.12)
You are short sighted with your "You may cause severe damage to Beirut, but Tel Aviv will suffer worse" "Can the people of Tel Aviv survive the onslaught of Hezbollah missiles raining all over the place?" Quit this rubbish! Get the long view! The Zionist view! :- The Land of Israel is not for sale. If Jewish independence in this Land means that we have to suffer - then so be it. You won't scare us with sabre rattle-ing
