31. #23, #29.They are refugees, Israel is setting on their land.
Other X   (07.23.12)
They have the internationally recognised RIGHT OF RETURN. Not to Egypt, but to PALESTINE.
32. Israel and Gaza.
Gabe ,   Canada   (07.23.12)
The real two state solution as I see it anyway.
33. #31Other X Read UNSC res.242
Ian ,   Newcastle upon Tyne   (07.23.12)
There is NO right of return for these now bogus Arab refugees. The only recognised position is that written into UNSC res. 242 which simply affirms the necessity "For achieving a just settlement of the refugee problem".That includes Jewish refugees. Moreover,as it was Egypt's illegal invasion of the Palestine Mandate in 1948 that was the cause of the displaced persons situation in the Gaza Strip,it's the Egyptian government that bears responsibility for resettling them. The Egyptian government has run away from its responsibility for 64 years but they invaded and displaced people, they bear responsibility. THREE CHEERS FOR ISRAEL!!!
34. To 33, read the Geneva convention for refugees.
Other x   (07.24.12)
They havé the right of RETURN unless they decide not to. This true for Palestinian or non palestinian refugees. The law is the same for all. What 242 call just, is to conform with international justice. Palestinian refugees cannot simply stay in Libanon, Syria, Gaza, or the west bank. Gaza is Most populated area in the world, not because the area is rich, but is because 90% of them were pushed there. Think about it. They have they right of RETURN and they Will RETURN to their homes, like it or not.
35. To 33, jewish refugees ?
Other x   (07.24.12)
From the us ? Europe ? Russia ? Arab countries ? Agree they absolutly have the right of going back to their countries.
36. #31- they are not refugees, they are displaced persons
William ,   Israel   (07.24.12)
That's the definition for persons who run from a war zone without seeing a single soldier. Many of which left on their own power, taking the time to pack clothes and lock the doors of their home. No one running for their lives does that. I challenge you to cite the law that dictates the "internationally recognizes right of return". There is none. There was only a non-binding resolution which also included a demand for Arabs to end aggression and any persons who return to live in Israel will do so as loyal citizens. This was rejected by Arabs, thus making it null and void. There is no intl acceptance to returning Arabs, and every solution since 1949 had Arabs staying where they are or moving to a 3rd party country, with compensation. Not sure what for - 97% of them never owned the land they squatted on so how can they return to it? Legally, there is no way. If Intl Law is to be followed, as you choose, then those who arrived illegally as part of the economic immigration in the 1930s, or as part of the illegal forced migration of Arabs into the West Bank by Jordan after the illegal annexation, must be returned to their birth country.
37. #34 - return of refugees per geneva Convention
William ,   Israel   (07.24.12)
which also states that those returning are to be LOYAL to the host State and end any aggression, else they be compensated and move on to a 3rd country. First, Arafat forbade any normalization of life for "refugees" even to the point of threatening them. UNWRA got the point and built no buildings which could have eased their situation. It also helped Arafat extract tons of global aid and use them as political fodder. There is no reason "Palestinians" cannot stay in Lebanon, Egypt, Gaza, etc. Why not? "Palestinians" claim Gaza and West Bank as their future State but don't want to live there? Today, 92% of so-called refugees are citizens of the country they were born in - which isn't Israel. Per UN definitions on refugees, the status cannot be handed down to generations. This was a unilateral act FOR the "Palestinians" and broke UN Charter. Gaza is the 7th most populated place on Earth, with several other RICH nations ahead of them - like Singapore and Monaco. Do your research. And they don't blow up civilians, nor use kids as human shields. In Gaza, almost no one remembers living inside Israel, therefore there's no reason to have them return to anything they can't even point out, let alone provide documentation to. Like it or not, Gazans won't be heading North. They'll be heading South, towards Egypt. Their chances for peace have exponentially dwindled since 1948. We don't want them - and they refuse to live under the rule of Jews. A prefect situation.
38. #35 - or be compensated
William ,   Israel   (07.24.12)
since their lives would be in danger, and we've seen it already since these Jews were made refugees through violent ethnic cleansing, the Geneva Convention allows for them to stay where they are and accept compensation. With the loss of property, assets, businesses, and years of trauma and inconvenience, for 800,000 Jews (and their extended families, per "Palestinian" standards), that should collectively amount to $9.7 Trillion. We do not accept credit cards or checks.
39. Compare Arab League to civilised countries like UK
Ian ,   Newcastle upon Tyne   (07.24.12)
The Arab League refuses to nationalise even the descendants of displaced persons and insists on sending them 'back' to a place that they have never known. There have been cases in Britain of attempted deportation of couples who are dubious refugees and asylum seekers that have been thwarted because they have children born in Britain and only know Britain. The public is outraged and petitions and demands that they remain here....and they usually win. A big difference,eh? THREE CHEERS FOR ISRAEL!!!
