Now Bibi is left with a majority of just 6 which includes Shas so we may not get a deal anyway, the government will fall very soon and probably be replace by a Labor, Meretz, Lapid coalition. ...I keep thinking that Haredim must join the Army,because such joining will not bother Torah studies but the opposite-will strengthen them adding Ahavat Israel and practice in these boys´ conscience. I keep with the opinion that the current refuse of Haredim leaders in encourage their flock to go to Army is more related to economical issues than religious properly. I haven´t heard any Torah justification for what they are doing as of now. I think they must change lest a great and painful rift occurs in Israel. I think their leaders should study our own history a bit more and draw from it corrective lessons as soon as possible.

God ignored them and helped the secular jews to found Israel . Now the haredim claim that they pray to preserve Israel. 2). The haredim think that they are better the Joshua and the rest of the judges, king David, the macabim ,the students of rabi Akiva etc. all of whom served in the army. 3). If the holocoust ttought us anything it is that every jew has to know to use a gun , most of the people who survived the holocoust were seculars who fought the nazis as partizans. 4). If they do not want to go to the army they can do national service and I'll include there the arabs .

If they think that the Haredim are the cause of or solution to the disproportionate amount of reserve duty they perform. The military can afford to bring in a couple more Haredi combat units (and they would be filled without any legistlation, the demand exists) who would one day do reserve duty. But even the budget for that doesn't exist. If the army let the women off (women don't do this kind of reserve duty, nor can they reach real combat level units) altogether, regardless of race, religion or gender then they money would exist to draft all potential haredi combat soldiers, and the Haredi leaders would have no objection to a universal draft. Alternatively, if it actually drafted those who do not have an exemption by today's laws there would be no need to bring in the pesky Haredim to begin with.

About 3 weeks ago, in Parshat Pinchas, Hasem instructs Moshe Rabeinu to count every male between the ages of 20 to 50, so as to enlist them in the army which is about to attach Midyan. Hashem did not say do not count the Haredim. So, I wonder, what logic/mitzva are the leaders of Shas refering to by arguing that they should be exempt from the military service??

I never said that jews should not pray .If the haredim want to pray they are free to do that if they believe that it helps but they got to serve in the army or have national service like our ancestors did. 2). I can't even believe the nasty things the haredim at this gathering allegedly said to the activists who have served in the IDF and/or are still reservists. The later protects the country, the citizens and this is what they get for it from these individuals. No matter what the individual did- frontline combat unit, intelligence, desk job, whatever....they didn't avoid their responsibilities. Everyone who wears the uniform serves. If Moses Maimonides could study Torah and still be a practicing physician, then I don't see why these 21st century haredim can't study Torah and serve in the IDF.
