31. compensation for surviving a massacre??
dani   (08.17.12)
lets make it clear; in 1948, the arab states and palestinians proclaimed that they would perpetrate a "mongol massacre" on the Jews (look it up). In 1948, Israel was a tiny little state and was judged as having little chance of surviving against the Arabs. People think its a "miracle" that both the US and the USSR recognized Israel in 1948...but its not such a big miracle when you realize that they both calculated Israel would be destroyed by the Arabs and so they thought their votes were for show only. Do you really think Stalin would have supported Israel if he thought it would have survived??? The real miracle is that the Jews survived, organized themselves, and the Palestinians were the losers. For these people to now demand "compensation" for not succeeding in their desire to massacre the Jews in 1948 is the height of chutzpah.
32. AND JUSTICE FOR ALL
me   (08.17.12)
will not accept bribes another key orientation in the quest for justice is the issue of bribes, not agree to bribes because bribery closes the eyes of the wise men corrupts the words of good men the righteous, who does not know the gifts although often are given without any interest as a simple gift, inclined to the person who receives them to do favors to the giver of them? the partiality or bribery are given in influence peddling or phrases as simple as this:tell me a little word to the judge on this case, bribery more open and clear is the buying and selling of justice, the village has characterized this practice with the image of the man with the briefcase, each judge is always threatened by the man with the briefcase which can be an attorney, the same litigant,a politician,a rich or a poor, sometimes it is even the same judge who gets close to this man and done justice to light traffic in any restaurant,a society as the current one which materialized in deeply in which money is due to so many in which people are measured by what they use,the houses in which they live or vehicles that have, bribery is the order of the day,the temptation of buying and selling of trials becomes serious, all judge today to avoid falling into bribery, has to do an option for a style of life, which is against,do not get into the crazy race of getting rich,as quickly as possible and as you want it to be
33. add refugees from Soviet Union too
myname ,   mycountry   (08.17.12)
In 1970s and 1980s they allowed us to take only $90 in cash and only two bags of belongings. They took away our property for nothing and persecuted us. No money transfer of cause was allowed.
34. Gee, you mean they have to work?
Ypip ,   Canada   (08.17.12)
35. Responsible for something???
Jusanz77 ,   Vzla.   (08.17.12)
"Palestinian Refugees are not responsible for the property of Jews from Arab countries." Palestinians were not responsible for taking up arms against the new born state of Israel. Nor are responsible for being part of the Arab armies that invaded Israel. Fewer are responsible for the War of Attrition. Not even for the countless attacks by Palestinian commandos against civilians in Israel. Not even for the rockets fired from Gaza. Less economic disaster of Hamas and the PA. Will the Palestinians responsible for something in this life?
36. Fair share of displaced between us and our Arab neighbours
Martin ,   SA   (08.17.12)
Accommodation 4 African desperate asylum seekers What are the stats for Arab jurisdiction We are being engulfed by Africans displaced in petty local wars or in reality financially compromised so-called refugees. How hospitable are our neighbours to these unfortunate population of perhaps even fortune seekers. My guess, please confirm, is that these people are not welcome at all in our neighbouring jurisdictions. So we whom have a sort-out a spot 4 strangers in difficulty and we have been soft. Name me other countries that are soft and hospitable and are prepared to let their cultures being engulfed by the numerous challenged group in the ame of asylum seekers. The rest of the world whom do not have to bear the responsibility are quick to find fault if we go hard on them. Let them find their fortune in Iran etc. If we take our share based on square metre areas we could send at least 90% of them to Asia and more and so prove we are doing our share. I doubt that our neighbour are at all hospitable and accommodating. On the contrary my guess that these unfortunate souls would be at risk of their lives to encroach in these territories. Its easy to point fingers and expect us to be holier than throw whilst these unemployed souls find no fault in raping our vulnerable female children and adults. We have every right to deal firmly with these people and even give them an allowance to let them retake their rightful places in there country of birth. We do care about the strangers in our midst. I doubt others INCLUDING OUR ARAB NEIGHBOURS show much concern for this challenged group and supposedly unfortunate people with as much HUMANITY and caring.

Have you ever heard the word "Yishuv"? Jews were present in the land of Israel for millennia, and the modern State of Israel was founded on the Jewish community that had been growing steadily, especially since the 1880's. The displaced Jews from the ashes of the concentration camps did come to the shores of Israel, and were mostly turned back by the British, whenever the British could do so. Read your history again.
39. To no 24 & 28. Half of Palestinian Inhabitants were Jewish
Aaron ,   Jerusalem   (08.17.12)
With Palestinan papers. Emigration to Palestine after world war II was not so representative. The mayoriy came before the end of the 19th century. Besides there were Jewish comunities all arrounf the land Like Gaza,Hebron,Jaffa,Sfat,Haifa,Acho etc And of course Jerusalem. There are Jewish families in Jerusalem like the Dayans who can trace their family trees back to the first and second temples. You are ignoring Arab emgration to the protectorate of Palestine from 1920 to 1942 more that 450.000 thousand. In 1948 600.000 Arabs abandoned the land by thei9r own will. They were not dispossesed. They were adviced by their leaders to abandon their belongings until the Jews were driven to the sea. Well it didnt happen and most of those arabs became Jordan citizens, because Jordan did not want to create anothyer arab state so Jordan anexed the West Bank and East Jerusalem. Then Jordad, Egypt and Syria decided to atack Israel in 1967. Again they wanted to expell the Jews and again they lost. When you declare a war and loose you have to pay a prize. Ita has hapened every where in everytime in History. Why should you think arabs can invade threat and get awauy with no cost.. On the other hand The Otoman Palestine was an abandoned land. Jews came and dried swamps and flourish the desert.. By 1850 Jerusalem Had a Jewish mayoriy. Next were the Cristians and the last in the list were the Muslims. When Jews started giving work to arabs when building cities, vineyards, conquering the dessert etc more than 450.000 came.from near countries So to ptend that arabs were in the land for thousands of years is a lie. ICC dont make me laugh we know the type on atisemites they are when it comers to Israel This wil be solved at a negotiating table or wont be solved at all.
40. Serve U.N. with legal proof Judea & Samaria are ours!
Chaim ,   Israel   (08.17.12)
It's wonderful to see Israel finally beginning to assert her rights after decades of leftist dominated darkness and appeasement. This conference on the rights of Jews driven from Arab lands is a wonderful idea and long overdue. We should also serve the U.N. with legal proof that Judea and Samaria are 100% ours! Copies should also go to all world governments, media, NGO's, religious institutions, the E.U. etc. This would greatly strengthen Israel's position and encourage our friends and allies.
41. #24 what a simpleton!!

You are so out of touch with the truth and reality! Israel owes nothing to anyone. The reverse is true, dummy You are to stupid to argue with. Stop reading Pali propaganda.
42. Never thought of myself as a Refugee
Chan ,   FL, USA   (08.17.12)
My Grandmother had to leave Alexandria Egypt in the early 20's. She had to marry young and leave because many of her cousins were kidnapped, converted, and married all by force. Then before Rommel came her sister and other cousins left. They left the lights on the radio on, Women packed their heavy purses gathered at the shul and left with husbands and kids. They were afraid that with the coming of Rommel and the "love" that their neighbors had for them they would be finished. I hope Israel doesn't use this money for More Volvos for PMs vacatiosn and BS like that. They need tanks and missiles.

Starting only with 1776-Basra, here is a list of the most prominent Arab pogroms and massacres against Jews. And I am asking you to provide us with a list of Jewish pogroms and Massacres against Arabs. And please don't come with "Deir Yassin" because the Arab answer was "Kfar Etzion" 1776 Iraq (Basra) 1785 Libya (Benghazi) 1790 Marocco (Tetouan) 1792 Marocco (Tetouan) 1805 Algeria (Algier) 1815 Algeria (Algier) 1828 Iraq (Baghdad) 1830 Algeria (Algier) 1834 Palestine (Safed) 1834 Hebron 1838 Palestine (Safed) 1839 Persia (Meshed) 1840 Syria (Damaskus) 1844 Egypt (Cairo) 1847 Palestine (Jerusalem) 1847 Lebanon (Dayr al-Qamar) 1848 Syria (Damaskus) 1850 Syria (Aleppo) 1862 Lebanon (Beirut) 1864 Lebanon (Beirut) 1864 Ottoman Empire (Buyukdere) 1864-1880 Marocco (Marrakesh) 1866 Ottoman Empire (Kuzguncuk) 1867 Persia (Barfurush) 1868 Ottoman Empire (Eyub) 1870 Ottoman Empire (Istanbul) 1870 Egypt (Alexandria) 1871 Egypt (Damanhur) 1872 Ottoman Empire (Edirne) 1872 Ottoman Empire (Izmir) 1873 Egypt (Damanhur) 1874 Ottoman Empire (Izmir) 1874 Lebanon (Beirut) 1874 Ottoman Empire (Istanbul) 1875 Syria (Aleppo) 1877 Egypt (Damanhur) 1877 Egypt (al-Mansura) 1879 Syria (Damaskus) 1882 Egypt (Alexandria) 1890 Syria (Damaskus) 1890 Egypt (Cairo) 1891 Egypt (Damanhur) 1897 Algeria (Mostaganem) 1901-1902 Egypt (Cairo) 1901-1907 Egypt (Alexandria) 1903 Egypt (Port Said) 1906 Egypt (Alexandria) 1907 Marocco (Casablanca) 1908 Egypt (Port Said) 1910 Persia (Schiraz) 1912 Marocco (Fes) 60 deaths 1920 Palestine (Jerusalem) 1921 Palestine (Jaffa) 1929 Palestine the whole territory 1929 Palestine (Hebron) 1929 Palestine (Safed) 1934 Algeria (Constantine) 1938 Palestine (Tiberias) 1940 Egypt 1941 Iraq (Bagdad) 1945 Libya (Tripoli) 1945 Syria (Aleppo) 1945 Egypt(Cairo) 1947 Syria (the whole country) 1947 Syria (Aleppo) 1947 Yemen (Aden) 1947-12-05 Bahrain (Manama) 1950-1951 Iraq (Baghdad) 1963 Algeria While the whole world accepted that the European persecution of Jews happened, it denies the Arab persecution of Jews. I recommend the lecture of: CASE STUDY OF HUMAN RIGHTS AND FUNDAMENTAL FREEDOMS A World Survey Volume V ISBN: 978-9-02471-957-0 Page 69 The case of the Jews from Arab Countries A Neglected Issue I also recommend the little book: Myths and Facts A concise record of the Arab-Israeli conflict ISBN 0-936146-03-6 As a vademecum for your strange excursions into Arab perception of truth. You cannot just deny a big share of the truth and blame the actual victims, who are defending their last resort, to be perpetrators, as they do not surrender to the original perpetrators. Defending yourself is not a crime! Not defending yourself is the premium ticket to a Darwin-Award nomination!
44. #13 8.000 sqmiles
Raphael ,   Netanya   (08.17.12)
Depends at what time you evaluate : arab goats turned the land of milk and honey into a moonlike desert, that sheltered a scattered population of 194.000 people, including 50.000 non muslims in the 1854 turkish census. Now, it is home of 10 million people, including millions of PA affluent beggars. In 1947, 2/3 of arnona (poll tax) was paid by the Jews, which is a clear evidence of property. And the "arab" land was owned by a small bunch of effendis, 90% of the muslims being their servants, tenants or beduin herdsmen.
45. Haha genius!!
Dan   (08.17.12)
Enough of this Palestinian refugee bullshit. Let their Arab bretherins call on them and welcome them into their bosom as Israel did its Jewish family!! And hell will freeze over first! Danny Ayalon, you are a brilliant man at exposing Arab hypocrisy and getting their knickers in a twist!
46. About time u wake up!!!!
American ,   USA   (08.17.12)
Finally !!! Yes the Arabs have the balls to say the claim is baseless !!! Their claim is baseless and no right of return for the snakes they need to compensate every Jew who left these Arab countries they murdered ,robbed and took away their passport and everything they own the Palestinian propaganda machine of lies and invented histories must be stoped !!!
47. They expelled some 864,000 Jews, while only 300,000 to
Jehudah Ben-Israel ,   Qatzrin, Israel   (08.17.12)
700,000 Arabs fled their homes as a result of a war the Arabs initiated, and they still complain...
48. War reparations from Israel?
Andrew Brehm ,   Zurich   (08.17.12)
Traditionally war reparations are paid by the attacker and loser, i.e. the Arab League. Bring it on!
49. No, it's called Leveling the Playing Field
William ,   Israel   (08.17.12)
Muslims have, for too long, enjoyed the undeserved sense of entitlement and supremacy, believing that the universe rotates around them. As more of the true history surfaces, Muslim narratives are being challenged, as is their sense of supremacy, and this alarms them. At the end of the day, Arabs will be held accountable both for the Jewish refugee issue and the "Palestinian" refugee issue, which resulted by their own hands and racism.
50. To: No. 26
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (08.17.12)
Read up on the San Remo Conference, you moron. And emigration to Palestine was permitted pretty much by everyone that ever controlled the land since 72 A.D. The Jewish people who were expelled by the Romans have always returned -- circumstances permitting -- keep in mind that it was the British who prohibited the Jews from coming to Palestine in 1937 -- at the time they needed it most. By the way -- how much compensation have YOU anted up for the native Americans who were displaced from their homes in Arizona?
51. Arab Jews (Mizrahim) have been invited back
observer ,   Egypt   (08.17.12)
Arab Jews were seduced or forced by Zionists to leave their homes, while the Palestinians were expelled by the same Zionists.
52. AAS syndrome
observer ,   Egypt   (08.17.12)
Arabs started only one war, in 1973 to restore their occupied land and were victorious then. The Jews won only one war, in 1967, because they perfidiously attacked without declaring the war. as attackers' spills syndrome.
53. 13
zionist forever   (08.17.12)
Israel isn't going to pay a penny in ware repatriations and there will be no return to the villages most of which have been demolished anyway. If at some point a palestinian state is established they won't be getting money out of Israel. The Israeli government is also not seriously seeking money to compensate the Jews its all just politics letting the arabs and supporters know we pay for keeps and are not going to let you take and we give and demand nothing in return. Stop the world looking at the palestinians as innocent victims of the evil zionists and show there are two sides to this and Jews also lost out but as I say no Israeli money going to palestinians ... unless of course they decide to abandon their plans for statehood and officially demand Jordan be the palestinian state, then I imagine Israel would be delighted to compensate them.
54. Compensation
MAX ,   Washington DC   (08.17.12)
Not only are the Jewish Refugees that were forced to flee their homes in Arab Countries, entitled to restoration of their property and financial compensation but the other millions and their descendants that were forced out of England and Spain (or forced to convert) entitled to compensation as well!
55. True - "Palestinian" property and Jewish cannot be equated
William ,   Israel   (08.17.12)
Because of two major facts: 1) Jews can absolutely prove the property and wealth they lost as a result of the criminal ethnic cleansing at the hands of racist Arab leaders, while "Palestinians" haven't yet produced any definitive evidence of property ownership besides some rusty keys and an unproven narrative. 2) It was the Arab leaders, through the Arab League, which led a genocidal war and caused BOTH sets of refugees as a result. It is they, not Jews nor "Palestinians" specifically that should be paying the price for their folly. However, it is proven that "Palestinians" either left without ever seeing a soldier, or took part in activities against Jews during the war, while Jews cleansed from Arab lands were neither affiliated with Zionism nor acting against their birth country at all. So, in light of these facts, the Jews actually have a better claim as refugees and demand for justice than do the "Palestinians". And if we take the "Palestinian" equation to refugee status, there are some 5 million Jews today (800K original + descendants) that deserve compensation.
56. #13 - since 95% was public land
William ,   Israel   (08.17.12)
and was won by war from the Ottoman Turks, then managed by Britain, then handed to Israel via world body declarations, that leaves only 5% to deal with. Now of that private land, half was in Jewish hands, which has already been purchased over 60 years ago with land deeds to prove it. Of that remaining which was/is in Arab private hands, only a portion was ever taken by the State - so we're down to what....5% of actual land mass? 5% of 8,000 sq. miles = 400 square miles. 2560 dunams per sq. mile....leaves 1 million dunams. At an average price (taking into account varying value of land) of $5K per dunam, that equates to: $5.12 Billion dollars in compensation at today's rates. Now let's calculate the 2,173 sq. miles of West Bank and 146 sq. miles of Gaza, of which Jews owned (and lost) about 20% (in private property, not actual rights to through the Balfour Declaration which is 100%). That is 464 sq. miles, which equate to 1.2 million dunams, worth $5.9 BILLION. Ok, now we can move forward on the compensation discussion on ONLY the land here, which, by the way, will affect only those "Palestinians" who actually owned land, not land they squatted on nor land they claim, but cannot prove, some collective "Palestinian" governance or ownership of. Let the good times roll.
57. #24 - So Arabs can kill Christians because of US action?
William ,   Israel   (08.17.12)
Is that how it works, or does that level of deep racism only work when Jews are the target? Jews in Arab lands had no ties to Zionism nor the State of Israel, and prior to 1948, were loyal, albeit 2nd class, citizens of their birth country. Arabs at the time, though the Arab league admitted the ethnic cleansing was due to Israel's winning the war and not the "Palestinians", which makes their response one of a hurt ego. And if it was because they were Jewish, shouldn't they have simply been allowed to leave with their wealth? Nope - Jews were targeted for attacks, many killed, their property stolen, Arabs quickly moved into their homes and took their businesses, and Jews were allowed to leave with only the clothes on their backs, during a narrow window of time. Had we followed your logic, any Israeli should be able to kill or rob any Arab on the planet because of what Hamas does. But we're not like that. After all, it was Arabs who started the whole war in the first place with the words "we will cause Jewish blood to flow through the streets like a river" (if a Jewish State announces independence). It would seem, both the UN's own racist leaning, which gave "Palestinians" special rights which NO refugee group has ever enjoyed in history, and the Arabs who hope to use "refugees" against Israel, are to blame for the issues of "Palestinians" today. Jordan took them in just fine and it works well. Arab nations should have done the same, as Israel did with their Jewish refugees. However, many "Palestinians" came from outside the region through economic immigration from lands that refuse to bequeath them their birth citizenship. So in the end, it appears its the Arabs again who owe compensation to Israel, to the "Palestinians" and to the world for carrying this burden for 60+ years, all while sucking wealth from countries through the illegal petroleum cartel.
58. #26 - how did Jews "dispossess" Arabs from land?
William ,   Israel   (08.17.12)
All Jews who arrived, even in the mid-1800s, purchased land upon arrival and lived there. There was no dispossession of land from anyone. Even those who came after WWII did not take the place of an Arab family. I challenge you to provide proof to the contrary. However, there IS proof - and the Brits documented this - of illegal economic migration of massive Arabs who squatted on open public land without paying for it. Much land Arabs claim today they cannot even prove ownership for. Additionally, there was a very real ethnic cleansing and theft of land by Arabs in 1949 from Jews, with the concerted effort to change the demographics against Jews in Israel. This was admitted to by Jordan and the Arab families who illegally took possession of Jewish property in Jerusalem and parts of West Bank. Those facts, of course, will come up during compensation negotiations.
59. #28 - Abbas asked for that on a different matter
William ,   Israel   (08.17.12)
and was told it was rejected on the grounds that - "No country recognizes a sovereign State of Palestine". Of course, Abbas made the request with the caveat that the ICJ ONLY look at Israeli crimes and not anything to do with the "Palestinian" actions else the PA will rescind its signatory status of the ICC.
60. #43 - well, Deir Yassin was also a huge lie
William ,   Israel   (08.17.12)
perpetrated by the Arab Higher Council to draw in Arab armies to destroy the Jews. It failed big time. Admitted by Hazem Khalidi of the Arab Higher Council on the BBC in 1998 interview.
