It's high time the arabs admitted publicly that some 700,000 Jews were forced to flee their homes in arab lands and were robbed of their worldly possessions. In return Israel should symbolically waive any right to financial compensation from arab countries on the understanding that the palestinian 'refugees' be absorbed by their arab 'brethren' in the same way that Israel has absorbed it's own people. Moreover the pals should also withdraw their snouts from the international aid trough where they have been guzzling voraciously for far too long and stand on their own two feet. If not the Israeli government should apply for ‘REFUGEE STATUS’ for all the surviving Jewish refugees and their far more numerous descendants from iraq, egypt ect. Fact: The Arabs attacked Israel when Israel declared independence, as a result of UN partition of Palestine. The mufti of Jerusalem, a well known Nazi sympatizer ( who made broadcasts from Berlin during WWII) who told the Arabs to rise up during the war and kill all Jews living in Palestine, told the Arabs to leave, so that the Arab armies could drive the Jews into the sea. They could then return and have all of Palestine to themselves. There has always been a continued presence of Jew in Palestine, even during the Diaspora. Arabs living in Israel, and who did not flee during the war of independence, were not kicked out. That's why there is such a large Israeli-Arab population in Israel today. Only those Arabs who fled, were not permitted to return. Israel did not want a hostile Arab population inside it's borders. If they hadn't left, they would still be there today.

You are wrong! The Ottomans, who controlled Palestine, permitted Jews to return. They started by buying land, legitimately. After WWI, England controlled Palestine, and the continued immigration was permitted under the Balfour Declaration. Also, Arabia also supported the idea of a Jewish homeland at the time, before the Saudi family overthrew the king. Under the Armistice, that ended the war, the Jewish homeland was to consist of all of Palestine, incorporating what is now Jordan, as well, and even parts of Syria. This never came about because of the Saudi coup. You don't have to believe me. Just check out the details of the armistice. A non-Jewish legal scholar researched who legally owns Jerusalem, for over 25 years, and those were the legal documents that he discovered. (This does NOT mean, btw, that the Arab population was to be forced out of their homes.)

My comment couldn't be simpler: WAY OVERDUE. It was only about 15 years ago I even learned about the evictions of Jews from several Arab countries, and the confiscation of all their properties. This whole slice of history ought to be brought up anew, even if only for educative purposes. Also, what so many of those refugees made of themselves after the evictions and confiscations. Nor do I believe the Palestinians, whose true refugee number may have been about 1% (39,000??) of the Jewish evictees have any comparable claim, given the record, which should be clear, of their decades-long refusal to work toward any kind of genuine peace with Israel.
