Terrorist attacks by non-Jews committed against Jews have been a near daily occurrence in Israel for seven decades. Lately, the attacks against Jews have escalated. Contemplate the possibility that we've finally decided that enough is enough. I'm not condoning it -- I'm simply stating facts.
62. This is the fruit
A Jerusalemite ,   Jerusalem, Israel   (08.18.12)
of the current government's policies. When settlers attack Arabs, destroy their olive trees, burn their fields and throw rocks the perpetrators are never found. When Arabs attack Jews there is a round up of every Arab in the area and innocent people are arrested. What do you expect will result from such examples?

This is the way it all started in Germany and Italy back in the 1930s!

When was it, exactly, that African Americans in Atlanta did not have to sit in the back of the bus or drink from different water fountains? When were they allowed to sit at lunch counters with white people? When did schools finally become desegregated? Do you really want me to go on about Klan rallies and lynchings? The thing is, you see, African Americans never did anything to the white people in America. The Jews of Germany never did anything to non-Jewish Germans. The same CANNOT be said for Arab terrorists, who have brought violence and terrorism to innocent Jews -- both in Israel and in the Diaspora -- for seven decades. So your analogy is both wildly inaccurate and inapposite. Try harder next time.

68. Inexcusable deed
Susan ,   Tel Aviv Israel   (08.18.12)
The fact that there is Arab terrorism does not excuse attacks against innocent Arab passersby. Two wrongs don't make a right. Racism is racism. The victims did nothing to provoke a lynch. Acts like this harm Israel as well as the lynch victims. I hope the perpetrators will be brought to justice - and not just given a slap on the wrist. The fact that others justify it makes me sick, and worried for our society.
69. We used to kick over garbage cans on streets.
Michael ,   California, USA   (08.18.12)
After a soccer game, if our team lost, we would look for something to do as a revenge. Kicking over a garbage can seemed the "right thing to do," especially if a window opened up and someone cursed us from above late at night in Yiddish. Of course, it would not have happened if there were no losers in soccer games. The violence between Arab and deranged Israeli youths would not have happened if there was peace in the region. As it is, it will only get worse over time. A conflict needs to be resolved, the warring sides separated, an effective border put in place. There is no such thing as a cease fire that lasts forever.
70. This can not be justified
D ,   Israel   (08.18.12)
As an Israeli, I don't see how this violent act can be justified. I do condemn it and hope its perpetrators are jailed and feel sorry for what they did. And no, if you were wondering, this is indeed unusual.

...manifests itself in these abhorrent acts. It is disturbing to note so many people willing to overlook this tragedy by bringing up attrocities in other societies. When commentators like Sarah B refuse to condemn these actions, they are in fact condoning them and fueling the flames of religious and ethnic intolerance.
