61. Oslo required continued occupation
mick ,   USA   (09.21.12)
You seem to not understand the actual terms of the Oslo accord. Under Oslo, Israel was required to continue occupying parts of the west bank. Don't write articles about subjects you lack a elementary understanding of.
62. Oh my...
Max Merbaum ,   Los Angeles   (09.21.12)
What a completely retarded analysis. Oslo didn't succeed because half of the signatories live in the 15th century, are unable to rule themselves, and un willing to move past their circular and destructive honor-shame based culture.
63. The Great Palestinian Lie!
Taz Man ,   USA   (09.21.12)
All this peace-talk with the Palestinians has been a lie--period! These savages never wanted peace; and, the Muslim world only uses their bogus cause (as a political pawn) to maintain their continued fight and dreams of finally destroying Israel. As soon as they do that, the Muslim world will turn on the Palestinians. However, wanting to do something and doing it...are two different things. It is the Muslims who will be destroyed...and, not Israel--guaranteed! God bless, Israel and His Jerusalem!!! A Christian Zionist
64. Jewish and Multinational
Zivron   (09.21.12)
Israel is a Jewish and multinational state in which it is essential the Jews control security immigration and certain border ares as the Jordan valley as there are a few million Jews and billions of Islamists and their allies .The islamic people themselves are fifteen percent of Israel Jews are in settlements as a essentia
65. Sacrifices
R ,   Los Angeles, USA   (09.21.12)
Sacrafices must be made for peace f course. The Arabs and Muslims would like the total sacrifice of the Jews. Then we will have peace.
66. Let's face the facts
David ,   Israel   (09.21.12)
No matter what we have done to progress peace - the Palestinians have abused it every single time. They don't seek peace at all with us it's not pessimism it's a fact! No concession will ever see us living side by side with them, proven how we were constantly as Jews before we were declared a state, and in any other surrounding Arab state to which we had thriving communities. There has never been a missed opportunity for peace because it's non tangible, it has no expiry date. It's purely something that is never truly wanted by the Palestinians - 65 years has only proved it.
67. This author is either deluded or a liar
John ,   NZ   (09.22.12)
68. alona
alexi   (09.22.12)
true -some comments are of those not living in israel. A few things to bear in mind- the land was ancient israel not arab.san remo promised all of palestine west of the jordan to israeli sovereignty, not arab. every time israel withdraws from parts of west bank, gaza, we get rocketed and killed. So fences go up and restrictions are necessary. Many people tried the rabin peres approach furthured by olmert and livni which led to death and rocketinig. It won't work ever with arabs. israelis have to own guns and hold them ready and that is the story and it should not withdraw from 1 cm of land/ You ought to wake up alona, wake up to reality.
69. Wow I'm amazed reading the comments
ben   (09.22.12)
on this article why am I not surprised. Yet good to see this in print. What I wish the article included is the article " the missing link in the peace process" that talks about the audio tapes of Bibi saying he will not honor Oslo and how he will sabotage Oslo , as Prime minister. When he was Prime minister the first time. Glad to see Abbas getting a little credit. I think he is a man of peace, He wrestled with Arafat to get control of Fatah because he wanted to rein in the terrorists. Arafat embraced Sadam. Offcourse Israel was suppose to freeze the settlments and the Palastinians were suppose to dismantle the terror infastructure. Anyway it's good to see this in print. Hopfully one day soon we will see all Palastinians renounce terrorism and we'll see people on this board who don't consider people like Baruk Goldstien and Pamela Geller heros
70. "The Palestinians are threatening to cancel the Oslo Accord"
leo ,   usa   (09.22.12)
One can only hope.
71. MASHIAJ,MASHIAJ,MASHIAJ!
MASHIAJ   (09.22.12)
72. 46 # Alona
martin ,   uk   (09.22.12)
Firstly, I served in the IDF and managed to see out the last of the Yom Kippur War. Secondly, to the vast majority of Arabs/Muslims&Christians, Beit Shemesh is also occupied Palestinian land. Thirdly, try reading the Oslo Accords and see where it was doomed to fail. Fourthly, You and otheer lefwingers need to investigate the Norwegian fascist Jew/Israel hating elitist establishment partners who are known as the Oslo clique. Peres and other Israeli negotiators were like babes in the wood politically. What a disastrous farce!
73. #69 you mean
Gee ,   Zikron Yaakov   (09.22.12)
The non-existent audio tapes that nobody in the entire world has ever heard? Kind of like the amended PLO Charter that nobody has ever seen right? Abbas is a terrorist - he proclaims it all the time in Arabic. He did not wrestle with Arafat. Arafat died and he was his second in command. He has never done anything to rein in terrorism. He states that he is in favor of terrorism if it works. You might want to learn a fact or two before showing us your ignorance
74. Keep blaming ourselves
Avi ,   USA   (09.22.12)
I just despise those people who want to keep blaming ourselves for lack of peace. Agreements with Arabs are less useful than toilet paper. Look at the Egyptian peace Treaty. Do you feel safer?
75. Actually? An Opportunity to Lie
Shimon ,   Cincinnati, USA   (09.22.12)
Man, are you off the mark. The "Palistinians" (a.k.a. Fallahim) never even considered recognizing Israel or allowing Jews to live as an option. When will the Left wake up???
76. # 13. Jehudah, spot on. Thank you.
Ruth ,   Halifax, NS Canada   (09.22.12)
77. There is one thing that is more important than peace: life.
Yael ,   Ottawa, Canada   (09.22.12)
And, we, Jews, deserve to live as individual Jews and as a collective, a people, in our sovereign national home. Yet, the Arabs have persistently and categorically denied us this ethical as well as legal right of ours. So, why bend over backwards? Isn't our life more important?
78. Bad things happen to good people Thank Rabin Oslo didn't.
Miron ,   USA   (09.23.12)
The man of steel had played his hand well, and had own liquidator, on the occasion the opponent tried to subvert thim. Rabin never offered any Ierushalaim to anybody. Watch your mouth where your tongue walks you, my dear friend of Egyptian "brothers".
79. Ignoring historical ties to the land
Michael ,   NYNY   (09.23.12)
Although the bible speaks of the Jews connection to the land, the deed has nothing to do with divinity. It is rooted in 3000 years of physical presence in Israel demonstrated repeatedly by archaeology
80. # 73 the 2001 audio tape was broadcast on
ben   (09.23.12)
a tv program called " this week with Miki Rosenthal" titled "the real face of Benjamin Netanyahu " on Israel tv. Bibi was speaking in Hebrew. Read Gidion Levy 's comments on it
81. The Oslo accord is not valid anymore.
Beary White ,   Norway   (09.23.12)
Now the terrorists rules over the pals and they have to live with the shit.
82. Secular MENA, BIG ISRAEL, READABLE "abjads", CO-OPERATION.
Jerry ,   The Netherlands   (09.24.12)
83. #80
Linichka ,   Gdynia, Poland   (09.24.12)
The comments of Gideon Levy are rarely credible.
84. danny, when in history
arne ,   chicago usa   (02.21.13)
have you ever heard of a country bring back a sworn enemy to live next door, giving them guns and money and every opportunity to inflict harm on them? can you name that country?
85. Naivety?
Bwana Wiktor ,   Troy, USA   (04.02.13)
So much nonsense and so little time! Indefensible borders? Israel happens to be a nuclear power and it is fighting (?) stone throwers, AK47 "armed terrorists" and is runnuing out of space to park all those F-15, F-16, Merkeeva main battle tanks, 155mm howitzers, etc. What are these cynics really selling?
