Irwin Graulich ,   United States   (10.03.12)

64. 57 - the Syrians do not deserve any help!
split ,   US   (10.03.12)
Nope,... I was trying to say that they and their regime are not hypocrites unlike you and your handlers,...
65. This 'flotilla' has partly won already .........
Bertram ,   London, UK   (10.03.12)
...by getting all you talkbackers so irate and behaving like a bunch of schoolchildren. What is the matter with you? Why aren't you simply ignoring it? If the flotilla is so terrible why are you giving it credence? It seems as though you really love such events because they allow you to give vent to righteous indignation. However, you play entirely into their hands since they will be seen as the victims, especially if as one person suggests the flotilla should be sunk!
66. #60
Lio ,   London UK   (10.03.12)
Thanks for speaking on behalf of Israel, I'm sure they appreciate your input. Like all other govts, (yours included) mine is wringing it's hands and whispering condemnations. But what do you have to say about the TB's calling to torpedo the activists boat, sink it, deport them, jail them, shoot them etc, hmmm?
67. These anti-semites are part of

those flotilla guys do not believe in YOUR LORD... if they would believe in it they would sail were people do really need their help.. in Syria, in Iran, in Lybia, in Egypt.. those people are non believers, so.. keep your wishes for somebody who has a G-d to pray to
69. To: Charles at No. 40
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (10.03.12)
No, Charles, there is not. I am not entirely sure that you can find anyone in Gaza that even knows what a "keel" is, never mind knowing when it needs to be laid .....
70. Why peaceniks cannot be indulged
Stephen in New York   (10.03.12)
Law is not my thing, but as I understand it, should a ragged group of even "non-violent peaceniks" break the blockade, the blockade would lose all legal status and Hamas could then lawfully import any and all weapons. That's why peaceful peaceniks are such a threat and cannot be indulged and allowed to run the blockade and reach Gaza (to save the "starving children.")
71. Sprotje [ 62 & 64 ]
Charles ,   Petach Tikva   (10.03.12)
Where did we kill or steal ? Israel not a democracy ? With your friends having seats in the Knesseth ! Yes , those Swedes , and you , are hypocrites , by only seeing non problems here , but "forgetting" the true ones caused by murderous regimes .
72. My people in Syria are being slaughtered. Why don't you
Wafa / Gaza woman   (10.03.12)
try to help them? We don't need your help right now. We need you to help the people in Syria, Palestinians and Syrians. Will you go there and help them please?
73. To: No. 27
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (10.03.12)
Depends. How many Swedes are planning to be aboard the ESTELLE? Israel's blockade of Gaza is internationally recognized and fully legal -- so anyone aboard the ESTELLE sails at their own risk. But, as so many have pointed out -- why are the Swedes obsessed with Gaza in the face of so much travail and hardship in Syria? Why doesn't Syria tweak the Swedes' humanitarian concerns? Hypocritical, don't you agree?
74. Best solution
John ,   Herzliya, Israel   (10.03.12)
Let them in, don't let them out. Give them the possibility to enjoy Swedish freedom and democracy under Hamas in Gaza...
75. Sarah , 69 . It was sarcastic .
Charles ,   Petach Tikva   (10.03.12)
There is also no dry dock , needed too . But what about the "estelle" ? This ship , a 53 m one with holds , made already "true humanitarian" trips to african countries . And her name ? You know , a Sarah is not necessarely Sarah B .
76. Lio , 56
Charles ,   Petach Tikva   (10.03.12)
Those people call their trip a "humanitarian" one . They bring it to a place where it's NOT needed , instead of to the hundreds of thousands syrian refugees who need everything .
77. Not one to a Syrian Port

78. #76
Lio ,   London UK   (10.03.12)
OK Charles, you lead the way - starting with the 1000s of Syrian refugees your govt has taken in...
79. #66
Alex   (10.03.12)
They'd deserve it, being a former Swedish citizen I know what these "activists" participate in, indirectly promoting the growth of anti-semitism in Sweden (and I'm not speaking about their actions related to the flotilla but islamist and leftist extremist actions), calling for death of Israel and Jews. They deserve exactly what they call upon Israel.
80. 78 , why should we take potential terrorists
Charles ,   Petach Tikva   (10.03.12)
We are not on a "humanitarian" trip as those Swedes and others claim to be . We have tens of thousands "refugees" from Sudan and other African countries , they are NOT potential terrorists . There we are leading the way .
81. To: Charles at No. 75
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (10.03.12)
I checked the IMO registry. There are only two ships registered with the name "ESTELLE." There is ESTELLE MAERSK, a HUGE cargo carrier, and a small yacht called the ESTELLE. Since I seriously doubt that Swedish activists have chartered the ESTELLE MAERSK, that leaves only one other vessel licensed to travel in international waters and traverse shipping lanes. I suppose most people don't realize it, but the days of the KON TIKI are over-- you need to be licensed to cross international waterways legally -- unless you are willing to do so uninsured and without declaration of intent. For one thing, without IMO-assigned call letters, what are you going to do in the event of a maritime disaster? Dial 911? Hardly! Ship owners can change the name of their vessels at will. Name is never the principal identifier of a ship. Neither is flag, which can also be easily changed, or jurisdiction of registration -- also easily changed. IMO numbers and IMO-assigned call signs are forever. When the vessel is scrapped, the numbers and call letters are scrapped as well. By the way, dear -- a 53 meter vessel, tiny by cargo standards, would still require four holds, not two. Ballast would be a serious consideration, even for a vessel that small. Just to give you a sense of things -- the ESTELLE MAERSK is a little over one-third of a mile long. And they're building them larger still. A vessel 53 meters long is a joke in terms of cargo carriage. I'll take you at your word that there is a vessel called ESTELLE that has made humanitarian voyages to Africa. What I have a problem with is why such vessel is not registered with the IMO ....

There're 25 000 Jews in Iran, they have 1 representative in Parliament according to your criteria Palis should have around 60 in Knesset to match the Jews in Iran - Does that make Iran a democracy? ,...

You have joined the talkbackers, far be it for you to criticize
90. Would Not Be Necessary, If Hamas Recognized Israel
Tim Upham ,   Tum Tum, WA   (10.03.12)
All these flortillas sending, I am assuming building materials, would be so unnecessary, if only Hamas recognized the State of Israel, Then Gaza could get in whatever it needed. It also would start doing trade with Israel, and start collecting fees and taxes off of Israeli customers. One way is through an operational airport in Gaza. So all these pro-Palestinian activists on these flortillas, should be putting all their energies into supporting a grassroots initiative for a two-state solution. A productive solution, than being on a ship stormed by Israeli commandos.
