I have long followed the news on Israel and the Palestinians and hoped for a fair solution in this conflict. However, I no longer hope or stay up to date on it all. Too many commenters on this site show a scary eagerness for war, for murder, for hate, for ethnic cleansing and sometimes even for genocide. I am certain the same feelings also reign on the other side. This conflict began many decades ago. Almost no one can remember exactly what happened, but both sides are certain that the other side is to blame. This conflict will go on and on, with ever more blood and hatred on both sides. Maybe one of the two sides will manage to finally "crush" the other, but I doubt it. Human beings can be incredibly stubborn and resilient in the face of adversity and hatred. The Jews have proven so, as have the Palestinians. I wish you all the best of luck in these dark times, and I hope that those who now hate, and wish the destruction of the other side, whether they are Jewish or Palestinian, may find peace in their hearts one day, and the ability to understand and respect the other side. We have had hundreds of rockets fired in a short period of time and they hav even reached as fr as Tel Aviv. Even if this operation goes like clockwork the left can come out and say to avoid the need for another military operation we need to restart peace talks. Some situations cannot be thoroughly resolved but only managed such that they generate least harm to us. The operation in Gaza is such an example. We will probably be unable to eliminate Hamas, only weaken it. However, this buys us time and holds out the hope that eventually rational people will find their way to Palestinian leadership and meaningful dialogue can ensue.

I do not beleive Gaza has a manufacturing industry for rockets. Hence, they are suggled into the country. The purpose of a military incursion into Gaza ought to have the objective of seizing a corridor about 400 meters wide along the border with Egypt. The purpose is to eliminate the tunnels and to prevent suggling into Gaza.
