2. Sounds right...
Amichai ,   Huntsville, US   (11.28.12)
I haven't seen the series, but from what is in this article, it seems that both Erdogan and the show's producers are right. Suleiman was a womanizer and a conqueror. Regardless of who is right, the show shouldn't be interfered with by the government. Just because Erdogan idolizes Suleiman as a dictator doesn't mean that Erdogan is or should be like him.
3. Erdoga controls media& judiciary if need be by murder

4. Another cowardly Muslim dictator afraid of ghosts
brian cohen ,   judean peoples front   (11.28.12)
We who live in free democratic countries know a slimy dictator when we see one. The Muslim dictators are only slightly worse than Soviets or Chavez (but I think north Korea is worse), and you can tell they are weak when they have no strength to withstand criticism.
5. Suddenly the so called freedom lovers go quiet. What a bunch!

11. There is data about Suleyman
y-man   (11.28.12)
The sultan himself entered Buda on September 11, 1526; and on September 22 he decreed that all the Jews seized at Buda, Esztergom, and elsewhere, more than 2,000 in number, should be distributed among the cities of the Turkish empire. They were sent to Constantinople (Istambul), Plevna (Pleven) and Sofia, where they maintained their separate community for several decades.
12. #6 and #10
David Israel ,   New York, USA   (11.28.12)
Sam #6: It is very hard to understand from your bad English what you are really trying to say but as a Turkish born and raised American who visits Turkey regularly I will simply say that you are wrong, Erdogan and AKP took the country back in civilization. One of the latest set backs due to Erdogan's administration is to abandon the membership at the CERN project. Istvan #10: Iberic Jews (My ancestors) were given refuge in Ottoman empire way before Sultan Suleyman. It was Sultan Beyazid the son of Mehmet the Conqueror. His motive for allowing Jews to the empire was in order to create a loyal population in the newly conquered lands such as Izmir (Smyrna) Manisa (Magnesia) and Istanbul (Constantinople) where the local population was mostly hostile Greeks.
13. I take it, then .....
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (11.29.12)
.... that Erdogan would be quite supportive were Israel and/or Jewish groups decide to sue Turkish government-owned state television for the grossly innacurate and highly inflammatory made-for-television movies about Cast Lead. Remember those? Little ersatz "Palestinian" girls standing bravely before a firing squad .... if it weren't so sad, it would be laughable. But it's good to know that Erdogan would support such a lawsuit. I just might bring one.
