31. The PLO Charter
karmel usa   (02.13.13)
This is as likely to be revised as the United States moving its embassy to Jerusalem. The odious verbiage of the PLO charter is the biggest of all the non-starters when it comes to resolving the conflict.
32. Send it to the Israeli government!
Tracy W   (02.13.13)
The Israeli government already announced agreed to TWO STATES - their only concern is the details.
33. Oh, the irony
Ferdinand ,   Israel & France   (02.13.13)
Upset talkbackers, and Dan Calic, complain that the Palestinians don't recognise that Jews constitute one nation, and that they don't accept a Jewish state. So what arguments do these people use? - That Palestinians aren't a nation. - That Paelestinians don't deserve a state. If logic eludes you (and it probably does), let me point out that it works both ways. It is no worse, and no better, to deny a Palestinian state or a Jewish state. Both are equally bad.
34. No body deny the Palestinian to have a State - BUT
sam sweiry ,   Eastbourne UK   (02.13.13)
Of course - we will all be happy to have peace in Israel with the Palestinians - However, past experience shows - If you give the palestinians concession - they are not happy - they want to take the whole of Israel - YES, there children grow up to hate the Jews - They hate Israel - They still have a dream to take the whole of Israel and call it Palestine - I cant see anyone can change the fact on the ground - the reality is - they will be NO Peace on the status quo
35. a new map allowing meaningful area for us
Martin ,   SA   (02.13.13)
a new map allowing meaningful area for us If the pa are not able to redraw their map to recognise the reality of the jews presence in our holy land and this reality then they definitely are not deserving and would then accept our map which accommodates a demilitarised area allocated by default to them. Terms and conditions set by our political consensus. By not being able to find a way of accepting our legitimate presence they for fit the right to negotiate. EU and US and Russia it would be difficult to say the approach is unfair. The World take note. Am Yisroel Chai.
36. Deserve??
Adam ,   UK   (02.13.13)
What Pals 'deserve' is absolutely no business of Israel. The level of chutzpah in this article Is staggering.
37. we need to learn alot from the arabs & play by their rules
zionist forever   (02.13.13)
Abbas constantly makes preconditions and rather than saying no preconditions Obama has just telling Bibi Abbas wants these precondition to talks so just give it to him so we can get the ball rolling and when Bibi refused he was the bad guy. Abbas is already saying a precondition to talks is an end to all building including in Jerusalem and the release of all prisoners. Time for Bibi to put Obama on the spot and say I will talk only if Abbas changes the Fatah & PLO charters. With both sides making preconditions Obama will have to say no preconditions or not talks or legacy. Arab are the smart ones because they never compromise on their demands and eventually we say anything for an easy life. Its the mistake we made with Syria & the palestinians. Nobody thinks to tell the arabs we got land you want & superior firepower so its our way or the highway and you get nothing. We do all the compromising & ask nothing in return we are fools.
38. Israel
john ,   toronto   (02.13.13)
They are also part of the nation. There is room for both in the nation. No one needs to be displaced. Let Israel fight her wars , people are needed to serve God also.
39. #29
Eli Reuven ,   Newton USA   (02.13.13)
You ask, " Are you proposing an ethnic cleansing?" Do you mean like the ethnic cleansing that is explicitly proposed by all the Arab & Muslim factions that seek to destroy Israel?
40. 4
(02.13.13)
BUT AMERICA DID!!!! killing the native indians and stealing their lands and replacing them with the white man from england....the pilgrims. should the usa stop existing because of that? do you have problems with what the usa did? so, why do you blame only israel? most countries came about by conquest and by force anyway.
41. "Do Palestinians deserve a state?"
Yoel Larry kosberg ,   NYC USA   (02.13.13)
Of course they do not. Sixty five years of aggressive terror against a sovereign Jewish State have made their 1947 'portion' null and void. But the reason the world continues to press the discredited issue is due to the large numbers of misguided secular/liberal Jews who continue beating their chests with neurotic guilt and academic moral finger wagging from the comfort of their suburban living rooms. They are the problem, not the Arab Palestinians whom they have emboldened by their ill-conceived and self destructive obsessions,
42. There must never be a "Palestinian" state
BH ,   Iowa   (02.13.13)
The Islamic empire now stands at 57states. The line must be drawn.
43. To #1 Where can I find this
Softwalker ,   Canada   (02.13.13)
Istvan: Do you have any idea how I can find the Pravda reference to "Palestinian people"?
44. # 29, Yes dear,
Keren IL-BR   (02.13.13)
This has happened before, with millions being deported to their home. Jordan is Palestine. So Palestinians should be deported en masse to Jordan. This is natural. Think about all those Brazilians now living in Paraguay.. are they Paraguayans or Brazilians? For each one, his own home, querido...
45. You can say whatever you want
Kobi Martin ,   Tel Aviv   (02.13.13)
The true is that there is a people in this part of land that will not go anywhere. Right or wrong they will stay here. Most of you write from abroad. You are not Israelis and probably not Jews. So it is easy for you say there is no Palestinians when you dont have kids in the army, when you dont have to go to a restaurant in fear of being murdered or feel harassed for being Israeli. But we live here and we see the situation with ther eyes. There are two options and only two: Two States Solutions and a Binacional State. Palestinians will never move from here. Pick your choice.
46. blindness of western countries
kasia ,   Israel   (02.13.13)
I totaly agree with the article and could not understand how western authorities are not able to understand the reality of palestinian authority?the whole europe is openly behind palestinian freedom, but nobody is able to asses the situation logically and analyze a future perspective and structure of this presumptive country, its place among other middle east countries. and how might the country operate without strong, legally binding representatives and government... it's unbelieveable that israel is accused of subjectivity and the fact is that western countries can not notice simple aspects and analyze situation realistic and fairly.
47. To: No. 4
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (02.13.13)
Have you heard of the Norman Conquest, Jarda?
48. To #39
Luiz ,   Brazil   (02.13.13)
Ok. I see. So, if there are Arabs that want destroy Israel, so Israel must destroy all of them before. Beginning with the Palestinians. Please, look to the opportunities to coexist. Read the comment 45. Seriously, do you believe there are Arab countries that think they can destroy Israel? Israel has the biggest military structure in Middle East. Israel can destroy all Arab countries together.
49. The world turns a blind eye to Arab words and deeds
Carl ,   USA   (02.13.13)
All these vitriolic clauses were supposed to have been removed after Oslo and the charter rewritten into one of peaceful coexistence. Everybody knows that never happened, yet they treat the Palestinians as if they are committed to peace and continue to chastise only Israel as the source of all intransigence. Makes no sense...
50. Short Answer: "No"
emanon ,   USA   (02.13.13)
Longer answer still comes to the same conclusion, "No". The rest is justification, and for that, just see the charter of virtually any Islamic group supporting the creation of a new arab state. They all demand a dissolution of Israel and destruction of anything Jewish. Look at the aftermath of Gush Katif if you want a glimpse of their idea of the future.
51. To No. 40
Bertram ,   London, UK   (02.13.13)
Exactly! So stop the nonsense about anyone 'deserving' a state, stop the blather about legality, legitimacy and antiquity. Instead, get on with the business of finding ways to live alongside each other, however imperfect that may be. Or not. And in the end no-one will care and even the Jewish Diaspora will give up on a few million people fighting over what they see as a scrap of land, leaving only idiots like me who still think the future of the peoples inhabiting this region is important for the world.
52. 22 Arab states not enough?
USA   (02.13.13)
What...22 Arab states sitting on over 99.9% of Middle East land and having 16% of world oil is not enough? Enough of this one-sided BS. NO! Arabs do not need further representation or another nation! The tiny population of Jews should be left alone on their historical land. In fact let there be 3 Jewish states to counter the 22 Arab ones: Israel, and two new states called Judea and Samaria. It's not about land, it's about Arab hate, intolerance, bigotry and an unwillingness to live with any other religion and/or peoples. Islamic Arabs are some of the most hate-filled intolerant, bigoted and backward people in the world.
53. #11 - funny, you never demanded a State before 1967
William ,   Israel   (02.13.13)
probably because you didn't see yourselves as a separate identity than the rest of the Arabs in the area and were perfectly comfortable living under Jordan's rule with their citizenship. Your acceptance gave you away.
54. #5 - Netanyahu just stated his support for 2-States
William ,   Israel   (02.13.13)
And despite your croning about the settlements, there was never, ever going to be a return to 1967 lines in final negotiations and both sides acknowledged that. Arafat signed the Oslo Accords which agreed to land swaps that included large settlement blocs in return for land elsewhere. And where has the majority of building taken place? In large settlement blocs as part of the natural expansion the PLO accepted.
55. See PLO Phased Plan
Chaim Ben Kahan ,   Efrat, Israel   (02.13.13)
The PLO is enacting their phased plan which involves getting a foothold anywhere they can in Israel (what they call Palestine) and then slowly but surely destroying the Jewish nation. The PLO are very honest and vocal about this when they speak in Arabic.
56. To: No. 51
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (02.13.13)
I think you have missed the point somewhat. The Arab states, and terrorist elements operating from certain countries, and the Moslem world generally will NEVER accept the State of Israel. We think we are in a better position to decide what is important and necessary to Israel's survival than anyone else.
57. To - 5
Ken Evans ,   USA   (02.13.13)
It is the Pals fault = Bus bombs and rockets etc... All terrorism 1948 to today . They asked for everything they get. Actually Israel is too nice to them .
58. #6 - but it never was their land
William ,   Israel   (02.13.13)
your argument makes as much sense as claiming Los Angeles is Mexican land because its filled with many Mexican migrants who decided to stay and not return home.
59. promised country
olavi ,   espoo, finland   (02.13.13)
PA is unable to form and govern a state. The west bank is part of Israel so Israel should contrsuct there so they will. Never give an inch of holy land. In case of the threath of destruction Israel will burn its enemies. It is a good for all.
60. #58 William - not a good comparison
Gee ,   Zikron Yaakov   (02.13.13)
Los Angeles did at one time belong to the Mexicans. The US stole it at gun point in 1848. A more apt comparison would be Miami with Cuban refugees. Whereas the 'Palestinains' never belong to them.
