1. It's much more than the Palestinians.
Zechariah   (03.16.13)
There aerten million Palestians and a billion of Islam. So the Palestinins who have the capacity for peace ought be treated humanelyand equally. But what happened to Yesh Gvul there is is a border.
2. And the solution
Ron ,   LA   (03.16.13)
And the authors solution for keeping murdering Arabs away from Jews is??? Since the looney left has no solution and the Arabs want the return of so called refugees there will be check points, there will be seperate bus lines and the Pals will be in the toilet until they recognize the Jewish state.
3. Separate Buses
moshe ,   Tivon , Israel   (03.16.13)
I might apprehensive to ride on an Israeli bus in Israel with an Arab, but I would and have done so. In NO cicrcumstances would I ride unarmed on an Israeli bus through the West bank because of the 1:10,000 chance that the Arab would be hostile. 1:1000o because that is my estimation of the count of Arab West Bank terrorists. moshe
4. the elephant in the room
daniel ,   finland   (03.16.13)
this is exactly what's going on. while i find it wonderful that Jews have the ability to settle their 'ancestral homeland', this is the inevitable result. Palestinians in their homeland are persona non grata, or treated as sub-human. I don't understand the insistence on moving there, and creating this security nightmare and segregation system. It's a reason to stay out of there completely. I can't stand seeing fellow Jews in such a situation. It makes us look bad in all ways.
5. corrected description of author
Bluegrass Picker ,   Afula   (03.16.13)
the author makes her living by shneuring donations from foreign leftists. She accomplishes it by blood libels and hate speech directed against the Hebrew ethnic people. Like a porn actress, she reads lines from a script.
6. Solution is simple, #2
Adam ,   Cork   (03.16.13)
They should stop and move out of the land they have been colonizing.
7. WHAT ABOUT THE TERROR STUPID?
BUILD BABY BUILD ,   United States   (03.16.13)
An infant Israeli child died due to these animals with rocks. Do you think this 'author' has any memory of that or, of the Fogel Family massacre?
8. Why do you post anti-Israel propaganda?
Dover Emmit ,   NYC   (03.16.13)
This news article is trying to criticize, condemn, undermine and slander Israel and Jewish Israelis. Why does YNetNews publish such anti-Israel propaganda and drivel? Just merge with Al Jazeera or Al Arabiyah already, if that is your goal. Your articles sound just like theirs. How disgusting of you. Have you no decency?
9. to say or not to say
Lorraine   (03.16.13)
Many people clean for a living. Things need to be cleaned. Many Palestinians have good careers, jobs and businesses. Jews also lived for thousands of years on these lands (as well as beyond them), now they deserve rocks thrown on their cars, or as you seem to think even more attacks, only to be properly fair and righteous of course. No one throws rocks at Arab Israely cars, they get to work and home every day. Only that is different, because why, because you start at a false premise. There are huge problems, they are deep, and many are trying hard to address them, but these in the article are symptoms, whereas you wish to imply, believe and project that the killing is a symptom. To me ethnic cleansing and genocide of Jews hardly seems like the correct solution, I do realize that many think it is, without really thinking of course. And believe it or not it is not me, it is Hamas et al. And the dissenting Palestinians don't really count because they are clever enough to stay silent or they are already dead. Or maybe, deep down you sincerely believe Jews need to go back to where they came from, only they did. Or maybe, you just really like certain aspects of Islam and are confused why everyone does not convert already, if only for peaces sake of course.
10. To No: 8
Mike   (03.16.13)
"This news article is trying to criticize... Why does YNetNews publish such ..." This isn't a 'news article' it is an 'opinion piece', the last time I check Israel had 'freedom of speech', if you don't like such a concept move to North Korea.
11. Suicide Bombers
Chaim Ben Kahan ,   Efrat, Israel   (03.16.13)
Arabs were routinely blowing up buses of Jews and the writer questions why there are separate buses?
12. Sounds dreadful
Mark ,   London, UK   (03.16.13)
Were these express commuter services from Pal villages to urban centres it wouldn't be so bad. One suspects they'll eventually end up with all the clapped out buses taking tortuous routes through villages and back lanes. On the plus side, I guess they won't have to put up with segregation with women at the back of the bus, which is also pretty shameful too.
13. Let the author ride on a PA bus, then talk
Larry ,   Los Angeles   (03.16.13)
Dear Maskit Bendel, Have you ever been on a bus with a large majority of Palestinians? It is not a pleasant ride. Let me know after your ride how you enjoyed it and I will look forward to your next column with out the starry-eyed optimism. Sincerely, Larry
14. She is a consistent liar
Ilan   (03.16.13)
Jews are forbidden to enter all of area A. How many roads sre forbidden to Jews and how many forbidden yo Arabs? Now adding a bus lie for Arabs who vontinue to ride on the mixed lies is called discrimination
15. ACRI
israel israeli ,   tel aviv   (03.16.13)
The old buses (Kdumim - Kfar Saba) enter Jewish villages and are full by the time they reach Kalkilya where Arabs are waiting to go to Kfar Saba. Someone thought to relieve crowding on the buses by adding a Kalkilya-Kfar Saba line. Since there are no Jews in Kalkilya, everyone on that bus is Arab. Since there are no Arabs in Kdumim and Karnei Shomron, there are fewer Arabs than in the past, though there is nothing preventing them from boarding at other stops. ACRI is a foreign funded political organization, receiving millions of dollars from NIF, Ford Foundation, the UK and various church groups to delegitimize Israel. It is not surprising that ACRI lies to falsely accuse Israel of apartheid. What is the proof that the Left is wrong and the Zionists are right? If they had anything real to accuse Israel they would, but they always lie.
16. Separate buses just a symptom.#13
Elsie. ,   Gush Halav.   (03.16.13)
Dear Larry in Los Angeles, question, have you ever been on a bus from the West Bank filled with Palestinians?? No, I didn't think so, so easy to speak from Los Angeles. yours sincerely. Elsie.
17. Bleeding heart mercenary
Sam1am ,   Calif. US   (03.16.13)
Maskit is another progressive elitist living in Tel Aviv and suggesting Ashdod's kids that Hamas rockets are only a FIREWORKS display for their amusement, while getting handsomely paid by the anti-Israel liberals in Europe and supported by Ynet exploitation of Israel's freedom of speech..... These people replaced their decency with hypocritical morality to make them feel good about themselves.... No different then the cabals of yesteryears. Disgusting!
18. Leftist spin masks the reality.
Steve ,   UK   (03.16.13)
A headline on this subject in another Middle East media entity read, “Palestinians thrilled: Finally, decent bus service for those who work in Israel!” Behind the leftist spin in this article lies this reality. There is a saying about “swallowing a camel, and choking on a gnat.” A barometer for this is how the aforementioned fact is not allowed to get in the way of this “story” while no reference is made to the Palestinian demand that any future Palestinian state in the self-same areas is predicated upon the expulsion of all Jews. This fact is conspicuous by its absence here. All that matters to those with the mindset of the article's author is denouncing Israel–even if it’s for the crime of providing a better bus service.
19. Perspective from a few facts
Yossi ,   Hagai, Judea, Israel   (03.16.13)
A few facts; - The PA control more than 40% of the disputed area, Jews are not permitted to live or enter these areas. The other 60% of the disputed area is under Israeli military rather than civil administration. - The PA already runs Arab only buses in these areas and across the green line. - Arabs can and do travel freely on Israeli buses on both sides of the green line. - Significant areas with in the disputed territory are under the control of Hamas, an organization dedicated to Israel’s destruction. - Arab citizens of the disputed areas cannot travel across the green line without a permit because they are not citizens of Israel, and because security clearance is needed. (This would be considered normal not racist if they had already realized a sovereign state) - A separate bus for Arab workers from the disputed territories while not PC is a pragmatic attempt at allowing increased and speedy entry across the green line for Arabs living under PA control to work, visit family, and access Israel’s superior medical facilities. - The issues of security and freedom of travel from the disputed territories are a result of the ongoing dispute about the status of these territories. - If Israel were to annex these territories these issues would be resolved and the Arabs living therein would be Israeli citizens like Israel Arabs living in Israel already who enjoy full political rights, freedom of travel and worship. - IMHO an Arab Palestinian State on these territories is unsustainable on a practical level and will not solve these issues but will only exacerbate them. - IT SHOULD NOW BE OBVIOUS TO ANY OBJECTIVE READER THAT MASKIT BENDAL IS NOT WRITING A NEWS ARTICLE BUT RATHER A PROPAGANDA PIECE!
20. Civil Rights Lawyer
Robert Haymond ,   Tequoa, Israel   (03.16.13)
Of course the author of this piece of no-nothing trash would never be forced to take a bus. I, on the other hand, must travel into to Jerusalem from Tequoa. We do not pick up Arabs neither coming or going. That is as it should be. Arabs have their own buses transporting them to their villages. I am writing of the Gush Etzion Region. It's not a question of disliking Arabs; it's a question of our safety from terrorists. I hate it when the people advocating a position, such as the present author, never has to take a risk himself, no personal risk. but isn't that notably the case with the civil rights left-wing types?
21. Rehashing libel already proven to be false
Shaul R   (03.16.13)
The author builds an argument on a false premise: the two bus lines were added for the convenience of Pal Arab workers. There is nothing that prohibits them from taking a bus from Jewish villages or riding private taxis to the border, if they choose to do so. What does this say about the author's conclusions (and imply about her good faith)?
22. Anyone can ride any of the buses. Its the point of origin...
Scott ,   USA   (03.16.13)
that makes them "Arab only."
23. Typical ACRI abuse of their mandate
Brian Cohen ,   Judean Peoples Front   (03.16.13)
This is just another piece of politically incorrect trash that has nothing to do with civil rights in Israel. Many years ago ACRI abandonded their mission - to protect and promote civil rights in Israel. They should simply rename themselves as the "Association of Israelis who Care More About Palestinians Than Israelis". ACRI warps the concept of civil rights by ignoring Palestinian rights abuses both against Israelis and against Palestinians. With a name like ACRI, you'd think that when Palestinians commit major war crimes and launch massive attacks against Israeli civilians that ACRI would leap to the fore and protect the rights of Israelis. Wrong. ACRI simply ignores Palestinian attacks against Israel. There is no demand for war crimes trials of Palestinian leaders or commanders who order attacks against Israeli civilians. - instead, ACRI blames Israel for being attack by Palestinians. Shame on Bendel for not once mentioning suicide bombers on buses, or even the word Hamas. Like the rest of ACRI dillitants, Bendel lives in a make-believe world that every single evil is due to "the occupation" and there is no such factor as Hamas, or that Israel wants a two-state solution and the Palestinians refuse to negotiate. Did I say shame on Bendel? Well shame on Bendel again and the rest of ACRI staff for ignoring the civil rights of Israelis and spending all their energy on the very people who refuse to negotiate an end to their own "occupation".
24. TheBase cause is judaism teaching jewish superiority & non-
James ,   Pittsburgh   (03.16.13)
25. Elsie #16
Larry ,   Los Angeles   (03.16.13)
I am from Los Angeles and have lived in Israel continuously since '78. I have been on many buses and some with many Arabs. It is not pleasant. So you tell me, Elsie, did you enjoy your ride with a majority of Arabs on the bus? Or do you just 'assume' what is reality instead of checking it out?
26. Excellent opinion piece.
Ben Alofs ,   Bangor, UK   (03.16.13)
Thanks, Ynet, for publishing this, coming from someone with detailed knowledge of the situation.
27. Bus transportation
Robert Haymond ,   Tequoa, Israel   (03.16.13)
In actual fact, buses leaving from Jewish communities from across The Green Line (I reside in Gush Etzion) do not pick up Arabs nor stop at Arab villages. This is due to security measures. On the other hand, I have seen exclusive, Arab only, buses from Jerusalem to outlying Arab villages.
28. #19. Thank you
A ,   Belgium   (03.16.13)
You have written an excellent and honest piece of journalism. Proof being that none of the usual anti-Israel, national socialist wannabees who enjoy spreading their garbage on Ynet have yet said anything in return.
29. To be candid, this isn't unusal
BEN JABO (MACHAL) ,   ISRAEL   (03.17.13)
Credits to fRont Page Magazine "Next month, I’m going to fly on a segregated plane to Toronto. It’s segregated because it only goes from JFK to Toronto Pearson International Airport… and does not stop in any part of Mexico, Europe or Asia. On Sunday, I’ll be riding a segregated No. 1 subway train to the Bronx that for various racist reasons refuses to stop in Staten Island. If you think these examples are stupid… so is the Segregated Palestinian Bus Hoax that has been making the rounds of the lefty media always looking for a fresh Israeli outrage. What actually happened is that Israel began offering bus service from the Eyal crossing for residents of the Palestinian Authority traveling to work in Israel. This is like calling an American bus line from the Mexican border to El Paso a segregated bus because it serves workers from Mexico traveling into El Paso. This is being described as segregation because there is now a direct bus service that doesn’t force workers from the Palestinian Authority zones to travel to Israeli towns and villages to board mass transit. And even more horrifyingly, it’s being advertised in Arabic. Information on the new services, which are operated by the company Afikim, have reportedly only been advertised in Arabic and distributed only in Palestinian areas of the West Bank. Shocking. It’s like the bus company is advertising a useful service to the people who will use it."
30. The "vaunted" Ben Alofs from Wales in
Robert Haymond ,   Tequoa, Israel   (03.16.13)
the UK always takes a swipe at Israel, never fails. He has provided medical treatment to Arabs in Gaza, at least in his heyday. He has always publicized himself as a "doctor"; in fact, he is a male nurse. A man who lies and deceives about his profession would likely lie about his medical experiences such as what he "supposedly" learned about Israel from his time spent with people who attack and hate us. Born a Dutchman, he is simply another Israeli demonizer.
