Arash ,   Tehran-Iran   (03.27.13)
Lesson to all those who actually claim we prosecute jews here in this country day in day out..like we have nothing better to do.
2. Remember the exilarchs and Babylonian yeshivot
Guy ,   KC   (03.27.13)
The Persian Jewish community is a vestigial reminder of the long-standing Babylonian and Persian Jewish communities dating to Nebuchadnezzar. The exilarchs ruled Jewish communities across the Middle East and North Africa through the first millennium CE, while the yeshivot (functioning as supreme courts) in Pumbedita and Sura (Iraq) complemented the Palestinian yeshiva (first in Tiberias, later in Jerusalem). It serves as a reminder of just how recently Arabs emerged from Najd and Yemen, and how long they were a minority in the lands they conquered.
3. Funny
Bob ,   TA   (03.27.13)
Such energy invested by the author to blame Iran, yet nobody supports the theory of anti-Semitism...
4. Iran is not your house
Keren, IL-BR   (03.27.13)
You are Jews... you house is here in Israel. Bo... tov po.
5. Iran treats jews too nice
boyan   (03.27.13)
Because these Jews don't deserve it, I wouldn't nearly be as nice and good to them as Ahmedinejad and Iranian mullahs are. keep that in mind.
6. #1 Busy prosecuting Christians & Bahai
Cynthia ,   USA   (03.27.13)
Hanging people from cranes in streets and imprisoning or exiling others to create an environment of fear. Lovely place. No wonder exit visas are so much in demand.
7. israel-jew can learn from Iran.
Christian   (03.27.13)
8. 20,000 number is overblown, propaganda
Shahnaz ,   USA   (03.27.13)
They are lucky if half that # of Jews remain in Iran. That was the # in the 90's, many have fled since then. The #'s will keep dwindling until they match those of the Arab countries. It's true Jews are tolerated, but not respected. The regime allows them to stay for propaganda purposes only.
9. Lies
Moshe ,   USA   (03.27.13)
My parents, along with thousands of others were expelled from Iran during the Islamic Revolution. In some cities they were told, either get out or we kill you. Many other riots and serious threats were constant during those times. It was very unsafe for a Jew to live there. Currently there are very few Jews in Iran and they are for sure not tolerant of Jewish practice. If you are outward with your Judaism, and display it you will see consequences.
10. israel-jew can learn from Iran.

11. The Noble Jews of Iran
AA ,   UK   (03.27.13)
For record purposes there is a distinct and huge contrast between the people of Iran and its govenment like no where else.Your ordinary Iranian is kind, tolerant ,curtious and respectful of all regardless of their religion, however the govenment treat everyone the same , shit .The Persian Jews are a part of our national treasure and heritage , we ordinary Iranians consider ourselves all the same and get on quite well with each other regardless of what the Mullacracy preaches, you know some form of normality has taken root in Iran by the barometer of no more Jews, educated persons,...Etc stop leaving Iran, and when Iranian Jews return that means heaven is upon us again.
12. Some nerves here...
Taner ,   NYC   (03.27.13)
As if Arabs and Palestinians in Israel live so peacefully and in optimal conditions. The level of hypocrisy that is displayed here and in the comments if simply disturbing. Do not throw stones at people when you live in a glass house Israel.
13. Keren, you are the best!
Lieve Duken ,   Tel Aviv   (03.27.13)

14. The Jews are future hostages to Iran and...
Harry Wright ,   UK   (03.27.13)
therefore very valuable. They are worth their weight in gold - a very rare species facing extinction. They are Iran's trump card for the future. The Christians and others are a dime a dozen, the mongrels - with nobody interested in them, not even their fellow Christians in the west. They are being butchered all over the world and nobody speaks up for them.
15. re: Taner. Nerves? Glass houses?
HaifaGuy   (03.27.13)
"As if Arabs and Palestinians in Israel live peacefully and in optimal conditions." - Precisely that, Taner. Come and see for yourself. Compare it to their living standards in their countries of origin and weep again (as if you didn't know). I thought you Kurds knew better. Then again I shouldn't generalize, you're probably more of a Turd Than a Kurd.
16. Boyan
HaifaGuy   (03.27.13)
Read my lips: when Jews flee their host country, it spells the impending demise of that country and its inevitable disintegration. Are you in Iran?
17. #1 Arash - Treatment of Jewish Community in Islamic Republic
Persian Jew   (03.27.13)
Here is my testimony: Shortly after The Islamic Takeover, a mullah issued a Fatwah against my family assets and property. It was based on this "They claimed my father had escaped to the Zionist Entity and was cooperating with them against The Islamic Republic" The truth was that my dear dad has passed away over 10 years before the Mullah's Takeover and was buried in the Jewish Cemetry in the Capital. As I young boy during the Late Shah's Regime during the 1967 war we had a muslim cook that my family had hired. Behind our backs he had told a driver we also employed that if Israel loses he will be the first one to attack and loot our home. One of my family members who still lives in the Capital told me around 6 years ago that they were involved in a car accident with a local person. It was clearly the other person who caused the accident they said. He immediately recognized them as being Jewish and told them that if they do not meet his demands he can even kill them and will only have to pay blood money and not even go to jail. Another female family member for her own reasons went back to Islamic Republic. Her home was invaded by the secret service accusing her for spying for Israel and she her self was physically maltreated. Another friend told me that their Rabbi wa subjected to a terrible ordeal, they even found hidden microphones and viseo recording equipment in him and his wife's bedroom and toilet. I was told the Ayatollah Ali Khamenei The Supereme Leader received the representatives of most minorities except the Leaders Of The Jewish Community for an audience. Judge for yourself.
18. Blurred faces?! Yeah yeah, more propaganda

19. many Kurds support Israel
Arda ,   NYC   (03.27.13)
and I am one of them. The Jews need to get out of Persia while they can. You never know when the Iranian regime will turn on you.
20. Israel needs to get these Jews out of there!!!

21. Jews are Officially 3rd class citizens
Frank Nikbakht ,   Los Angeles   (03.28.13)
Present day Iranian laws, based on the Shari'ah, consider Jews, Christians and Zoroastrians as lower than Shiites. Other minorities have NO rights ( their killers for example goes free- such as the case of Bahaiis, atheists, etc...) The "legal" minorities, are given limited rights and conditional protections as residents, somewhat like foreigners who are permanent residents. Those who help the regime by polishing its international image, will be rewarded. There are different punishments for the same offenses, if the offender is a Jew. There are lighter sentences, sometimes NONE, if the offender is a Muslim and the victim is a Jew, this include rape, sodomy and etc... Jewish blood value ( financial value of life or limb, if killed or maimed) is much less than a Muslim's. Jews have no right of testimony in court against Muslims. Jews have no right to jobs or positions which places them in command of Muslims. Teaching jobs are such prohibited jobs !!! People who say things are all right, are either expecting rewards from the regime, or actually believe that it is OK and normal to have inferior rights under an Islamic regime ( many minorities actually believe so). As someone said without explaining the "rules", as long as you accept your inferior position and act accordingly, the government leaves you alone, except that the Jews are constantly under close scrutiny, just to make sure they are behaving !!! There is of course this little issue of the Jews being suspected of being Israeli agents !!! Normal life? Hardly Committee for Religious Minority Rights in Iran
22. 20000 is far smaller than the real number if you count jews
jack ,   jer is   (03.28.13)

20.000 Jews out of 75 million Iranians have a 1 representative in Parliament - Question; how many representatives 1.6 million Arab Israelis out of 7.75 million total should have the only democracy in that part of the world in Knesset to keep up (proportionally) with the Mullah's bloody dictatorship? ,...
24. Before the Islamic Republic
Joseph ,   London England   (03.28.13)
Before the Islamic Republic there were about 120,000 Iranian Jews, and their rabbis were being trained in Baltimore's Ner Israel Yeshivah. Then everything changed, most Jews left and created new communities in the USA and elsewhere in the Free World.
25. Re: 2. Remember the exilarchs and Babylonian yeshivot
Michael ,   New York USA   (03.29.13)
Good point Guy, except that the overwhelming majority of Iranians are not Arabs or descendants of Arabs. So "Arabs may have recently emerged from Najd and Yemen" but Iran is a non-Arab country, making your argument non-relevant to Persian Jews or Iran. Rather the Persians, Medes, and other Iranic people have existed in Ancient Persian and modern day Iran before the Jews. Nonetheless, the Jewish presence in Iran/ancient Persia is over a few millenniums. Remember Iranians have over 7,000 years of written history. Jews began surfacing there between 2,000-5,000 years ago. Michael, New York
26. #12 You really have no clue
Expat ,   Adelaide   (03.29.13)
If you make such a preposterous comparison. As mentioned in this piece, the Jews living in Iran live under a constant threat of persecution, and they can kiss their freedom (and life) goodbye if they dare speak out of line with their government extreme anti-Zionist rhetorics. In Israel, the Arab citizens enjoy living standards and prosperity unmatched in any of their neighboring countries, as well as total freedom to speak out in the harshest terms against their own country, even express solidarity with Israel's enemies and support terrorist attacks against Israelis - without anything being done to them. Zoabi, Tibi, Issam Mahul are good examples. Your ignorance is appalling.
27. Moslems routinely forced us all out and stole our lands.
Moslem occupiers   (03.29.13)
From the minute Islamists took power in Iran, for the last 34 years they have made life miserable for Jews and Christians and made us want to move just to get away from all that routine harrasment. They are living on the lands they stole from Jews and when these same Moselems go to Europe and U.S they talk about their rights and demand respect like as if they know what human rights is. Moslems in Iran, just like their brothers in other Islamic countries have stolen lands from Non-Moslems and have turned those lands into Islamic States where only Moslems are able and dare to live and they are the real occupiers. I pray that God will punish them for all the suffering they caused us while they enjoy the stolen lands.
28. answer to #11 they are as evil as their government
Iranian Jew   (03.29.13)
No. the Iranians Moslems that I lived with were as evil as the Islamic government they brought into power. Islamist regim only came to power with 99 percent of Iranian Moslems voting for them, because it represented their hateful culture. As long as I remember they were even worse than the government and extremely racist toward Non-Moslems. if they suffer from the governemnt is because people who do evil, do it to their friends too. They forced all Non-Moslems out through different kinds of harrassment until it became impossible to take the torture form them and one by one we had to leave that hell and suffer from being away from our land that they occupied and from our loved ones. with no hope to ever be allowed to go back to our homelands, even for a visit. when I read all these extremly hateful articles and lies and comments these Iranian Moselms write on differnent websites against Jews and Israel, even from Iranian Moselms who live in Western countries, I know that no matter how long they live in West, they are still the same hateful, racist and Moslem supermacists they were before.May God punish them for the suffering they caused us.
29. split: Arab parties hold 11 seats in the Knesset
jdc ,   New York, US   (03.29.13)
that is 9%, as compared to 20% of Israeli population that is Arab. Some Arabs vote for non-arab parties, like Labor (imagine !). As for the 1 token Jew in the Iranian parliament, he was given an offer he could not refuse, and far from free to express his opinion. Compare that to regular anti-Zionists speeches given by some Arab members of the Knesset. Oddly, most Iranian Jews are now either in Israel, US or France.
30.  26 - #12 You really have no clue
split ,   US   (03.30.13)
You're full of crap, a few years ago Israeli government offered them $15 000 per person to move to Israel and guess what, a two or three families showed up in Israel, the remaining Jews in Iran showed a finger ,... Still didn't address and answered my question, how many Arabs should be in Knesset representing their population to match Jewish representation in Ayatollah's Iran?,...
