I'm curious. How bad is her situation? I only know something is not right. I don't know if it's a full on cult or what. Could you cryptically let me know how deep she's in?
62. Gunnar 43 . A BIG difference
Charles ,   Petach Tikva   (03.31.13)
Those victims were NOT the targets , while the targets of muslims are almost ALWAYS innocent victims .

albert snow ,   sweden   (03.31.13)
Truth is that you ms Tezyapar are in no positiony to decide what´s right or wrong islam. Only the Umma and the scolars have that right. A good advise to you ms Tezyapar is that if you are for personal freedom, human rights and democracy you should leave islam and convert to another religion, or best of all be a seculare. Anyway, stop defend islam. It´s an impossible mission. Forget it. We´re not stupid.

Good to see you have undertaken serious statistical analysis with regard to this issue. You also have a credible ally in Anders Breivik.
65. Gunnar , 43 . Learn to read before criticising
Charles ,   Petach Tikva   (03.31.13)
Where did i write that Ira , Eta terror didn't kill innocent people ? But those innocent victims were NOT the target . All the victims of Lockerbie , Madrid , London , and so on were INNOCENT victims
66. To No. 65
Bertram ,   London, UK   (03.31.13)
Please! Terror always targets innocent victims. The point of terror is to terrorise. Otherwise, it is not terror but war.
67. 66 , what's in a name ?
Charles ,   Petach Tikva   (03.31.13)
Terror is an act perpetrated by people generally not wearing uniforms , mostly against unarmed people . Blind terror always targets 100 % innocent people . You may call it with the name you want , not important .
68. Islam is against all no-Muslims and not just Jews
Michael Redbourn ,   Arad Israel   (03.31.13)
The only good thing that I have to say about Islam is that many of it's leaders announce its true goals. And its goal is a world Caliphate. And it's getting closer. Most of Europe has between 15-20 years before becoming Islamic. And Europe still can't decide which is more important, it's sacred democracies or stopping Islamification! Links aren't liked here but I'll attempt to give you one. The article, based on a book shows how the Islamification was planned several decades ago, and explains how it works. It has 25 likes right now! tinyurl dot com/bvftgtt Replace the word do with a . and remove the spaces. The Internet would be nothing without links so why attempt to prevent them?
69. Islam and Bigotry
Syd Chaden ,   Palermo Calif USA   (03.31.13)
This article does not mention the most extreme expression of bigotry, the Islamic call for death to infidels. The Muslim World takes the doctrine very seriously. The two major branches of Islam, the Sunnis and the Shiites, each consider the other to be infidels, and they have been killing each other for centuries for that reason. That killing continues to this day, in Pakistan, Afghanistan, Yemen, Mali, Libya, Sudan, Iraq and Syria, to name just a few of the affected countries. Muslim clerics frequently issue Fatwas calling for death to Christians, Jews and infidels. The Muslim World hasn't shown any inclination to disavow the doctrine, and Western leaders don't ever mention it, choosing to refer to Islam as "the religion of love". The greatest manifestation of love that the Islam World could produce would be the disavowal of the doctrine of death to infidels.

Your watered down version of Islam gives you a better quality of life than what the real Islam gives to Arab women who live where pristine and brutal shariah is the rule of Law. Given Hadith, Sunna and Quran and the history of Muhammad's life, there can be no mistake that violence, war and hatred are main themes, characteristics and commands that are part of Islam! Glad to see you are protected from that vile practice and way of life!

72. Fanaticism
Bertram ,   London, UK   (04.01.13)
The problem is invariably with those who hold firmly and unquestioningly to sets of beliefs and doctrines, whether religious or political. It is the slippery slope to fanaticism. In mining the Bible, the Koran, the Communist Manifesto, etc. you will find justification for all kinds of horrendous acts. No ideology can proclaim itself holier than thou in this context, including Judaism, which if it had been a proselytising world religion like Islam and Christianity it would also have probably spread the word by the sword. We Jews are lucky in that we have been in a minority, subordinate position for most of our history and therefore have not, as a group, generally been tarred with accusations of violence and brutality towards others, at least not until comparatively recent times. So, I actually disagree with author of this article. It is more important to examine the actions of people, not their supposed belief systems. In this respect some Muslim individuals, groups and nations have indeed acted - and continue to act - in a violent and fanatical manner. Others have not and do not because getting on more or less peaceably with their neighbours and focusing on the practicalities of everyday living takes priority. If we all focused less on beliefs and more on people that might be a start. I really don't care if my neighbour has some residual belief in the Flying Spaghetti Monster as the supreme being as long as it doesn't affect his capacity to sit down and have a cup of tea with me.

David Israel ,   New York, USA   (04.01.13)
I read the article from Mr. Pinner. While I understand the point that he is making against Ms. Tezyapar the fact is that Ms. Tezyapar's interpretation or more precisely wishes that Islam must focus on a peaceful interpretation of Qouran is a good and peaceful way. It is good to see that there are some who think like her. And I knoew for a fact that many Izmirlis do follow the peaceful interpretation. It must be the peaceful affect of the Imbat, calm waters of the bay and of course centuries of experience of diverse cultures living together sharing gevrek and tulum peyniri at pasaport.

islam is right and true ..people were wrong are false >>this article is about people it is false
75. Friends with Jews/Christians?
Chaim ,   Australia   (04.02.13)
You stated So as Muslims, we need to make it very clear to the world - particularly to Jews and Christians - that we are their friends; that true Muslims do not shed blood." Yet the Quran and your prophet, not mine for sure, mandates that Muslims should not make friends of Jews or Christians because they are friends of one another. So basically if you are advocating friendship with Jews and Christians and telling Mohammad to take a hike, good for you.

Well, if the Flying Spaghetti Monster tells your neighbor to blow you up in pieces, do you still want to have a cup of tea with that neighbor?

Exactly. Crazy beliefs which remain in the recesses of the mind are of no significance unless and until they are transformed into actions.
79. Flying Spaghetti Monster
Cory   (04.02.13)
I see your point of view. Especially when it was explained to me that a lot of religious followers aren't literate, and they take the words of their religious leader at face value They don't question it because they don't have the tools (right?). I fear a system based upon this. This is the same system that caused my ancestors to emigrate to the US. So simply put all Moslems are not terrorists. Reaching out to the ones who aren't is a good thing. By using generalized statements you're doing the same thing that the religious leaders who espouse terrorism are doing. Wanna go grab a cup of tea?
80. @No. 10 - Islam Tolerance
Marie-Luise ,   Germany   (04.02.13)
You are so right: the harsh verses override the passive verses in the Quran. Whenever Muslims dare say anything against Islamists, they never fail to state that "that is not true Islam" and that those terrorists "misunderstood Islam". Yeah! By the way, Turks in Germany are not talking very favorably about Jews. Attacks on Jews speak for itself. Turkey is hardly an acception from the Arab world--just slightly different.
81. To No. 79
Bertram ,   London, UK   (04.02.13)
Entertaining and wonderfully incoherent. My point is simple. Since we can never be absolutely sure of the content of people's minds, including their beliefs, judging them by their actions is the better bet. So, some Muslims are terrorists, others are not. No generalisations.
82. Great article. Keep up the good work!

If only such moderates like the author succeed the world would be a better place.
83. A refreshing new voice in Islam
Cory ,   US   (04.03.13)
I helped her develop her writing (for only like 2 weeks) and she soaked it up like a sponge. If an article of hers pops up and I don't see it could you let me know? She sounds like just the sort of intelligent and forward thinking young woman I'd love to have a cup of tea with!
84. A clever and effective argument

The funny thing is I'm completely secular. A scientist. Right now a teacher (math, science, common sense:). Thanks.
