Thank you for pointing out how completely hypocritical it is, that at the very same time that they battle to control the Kotel, they are refusing to participate in the very body that liberated it and protects it to this day. They are just an embarrassment!

I am impressed by the fact that the Satmar, who don't see the miracle of the state of Israël, are so many. Just a few generations ago we all looked and acted Haredi. Are we that self loathing that the need to "fit in" has us hating those that still look like our grand parents or great grand parents? They didn't take up arms and why should we push today's Haredim to do so? Whether they are sitting in shul studying full time or not. I am embarrassed by some of my fellow readers comments here. The Haredi community in New York is a beautiful and productive one. Taking a half a day to come out to publicly protest for the plight of people living across the globe is something most of us would never think of. They did and give them credit where credit is due.

Now why wouldn't any Jew have the right to speak up his mind? After all Israel belongs to Jews doesn't it? Isn't it what you wanted?

This is ridiculous. Israel can not draft Americans. They are not Israeli they are Americans. That is like saying England, Ireland, Scotland, Germany, Russia, China, Japan, etc. etc. could draft Americans. LOL It can not and will not happen. If they freely decide to go, they will be giving up their American citizenship with no guarantees of ever being allowed citizenship again. In fact, if they go they will be denying their pledge of allegiance to America which will make them a traitor of America. Israel is safer having Americans with heritage from the tribes of Israel and all tribes not just the tribe of Judah in America to represent your interests and safety.

If I understand you properly, your ideal would be that there be no army so that the arabs can beat us up or burn our houses and villages like they did during 2000 years. Or maybe you just mean that part of the Jewish people has to fight, be hurt die and work so that the haredim can sit in shul. In Antwerp where I live, the community once organised a manifestation against anti-semitic acts after a haredi youth was attacked. Almost no haredim participated. And you feel proud when a 100000 haredim manifestate against Israël, because that's what they do! Shame on you

WoW covered their offensive behaviour with the license of religious freedom and convinced a Jerusalem court to accept their false argument. The Satmarers have used the same false reasoning, showing that two can play the same game.

Ynet figures are correct because there was about 90 to a hundred thousand protesters. There were not only satmar chassidim but other chassidic and yeshiva groups there as well. It was called for 3 pm but it did not start till 530 pm. There were hundreds of busses with signs against drafting yeshiva boys in israel. One sign read we american orthodox jews will outvote politicians who fund israel if yeshiva boys are drafted. Ynet was pretty much accurate on their reporting of the rally.

I was not aware Israel had the power to draft US Haredi Jews. Exactly who are they protesting to? Conversely, The Mayor of New York does not control the draft in Israel either. As for the draft, what will they do when the US institutes a draft? File a lawsuit no doubt - increasing antisemitism. BTW Fay, Haredi Jews in New York are best known, and rightly so, for molestation, covering up crime, tax fraud, welfare fraud, general run of the mill fraud and hostility to non-Haredi - far worse than antisemites show to them. From what little I know of Satmar, who protested in NYC, Satmar object to using the Kotel. There are many opposing groups among the Haredim, and American Satmarers don't necessarily speak for Israeli Hasidic, Lithuanian or Sephardi Haredim.

The same applies to the WoW. American pressure is helping them force themselves on the women of Jerusalem who object to their antics and who accept the Supreme Court ruling requiring WoW to use the third section of the Kotel, known as Robinson's Arch. Native Israelis show little interest in Reform and Conservative Judaism, but are having it forced upon them by overseas interference.
