1. Unmanned???
(07.16.13)
Why was it unattended especially with the current conditions? 25 shells today, there will be 125 tomorrow unless we do something. Stop them from testing us!
2. Alo!! Alo!!
Dror ,   Haifa, Israel   (07.17.13)
WTF??? Kill those bastards dead, does not matter if they are FSA, Syrian troops, Hezboolah, Hamas, etc. They fire at us and it should mean lights out for them. What the hell is this crap. KILL ANY INFILTRATOR DEAD especially if they open fire on you. WTF??
3. what is an "unmanned army post" ?
Rafi ,   US   (07.17.13)
one that is no longer used?
4. #2 - Oh, please, Dror
Devorah   (07.17.13)
Barry is probably plastered to the Oval Office ceiling, screaming at Bibi to use restraint. And Catherine Ashton probably has her bloomers in a fluff doing the same thing.
5. I hope they've been shot dead by now

6. Too busy hobnobbing with John Kerry?
Queroa   (07.17.13)
To defend Israel?
7. Zero Tolerance Policy
Stupid   (07.17.13)
Israel should re-activate the Zero-Tolerance policy which has been in effect ever since the revolt in Syria bega.. Zero Tolerance. 24/7.

9. What happened to the new fence, and the reinforcements?
Raymond in DC ,   Washington, USA   (07.17.13)
All this time, we're hearing that the fence has been strengthened against infiltration, that troop levels on the border have been reinforced, that the IDF is keeping a close eye on everything happening along the border. And an armed force of rebels just strolls in and takes over an IDF post?! And why, after some 25 shells, has there been no response to the source of the fire? Is it because John Kerry is in the neighborhood? Or is it that after the latest salvo from the feckless EU, Israel is afraid of stirring things up? With all that, and with the shameful surrender to the Muslim rabble on the Temple Mount, it appears Israel's leadership is set to make this year's Tisha B'av another one to mourn.
10. as I was told
Marvin Strauss ,   Berlin & Germany   (07.17.13)
as I was told a bunch of Golani pussies left the front by own desire. if this is not met by harsh punishment this experiment Israel is on the highway to be doomed. (it's not the only phenomenon. the fish stinks from the head. to be clear: every today's effective military force of a democracy has an institutional way to complain & relieve unjust procedures within. if there is no way than mutiny close the shop)
11. Rafi @3, I do not know about the nature of
leo ,   usa   (07.17.13)
this particular unmanned post, but sometime there are posts, which are manned from time to time on "if needed" basis. Maybe from now on it will be needed.
12. Tel Faris infiltators
Steve Goodman ,   Israel   (07.17.13)
Can someone explain to me how these TWO infiltrators got past our new security fence without being imediately detected.....I recently visited Tel A Saki, and the "NEW Security Fence" looked great, but now I suspect someone iis blowing smoke up our "you know what"
13. Thank your "friend" in the White House
Az   (07.17.13)
for funding Al-Quaida and friends in Syria.
14. The syrians are so backward....
Brett L ,   JHB RSA   (07.17.13)
They are wanting to use these towers now, 40+++++ years after the Isrealis. I know its symbolic but its meaningless! The drones are the new way and in 50 yrs time Israel will have newer more sophisticated equipment and the arabs will still be backward. Good Yom Tov.
15. Answer to border fence question
Josh ,   USA   (07.17.13)
I read the IDF post was in the demilitarized zone. The border fence is right on Israel's actual border, I.e. it runs between Israel proper and the demilitarized zone. Hence the infiltrators didn't maybe didn't need to get through the border fence? Then again, what is an Army post doing in a "demilitarized zone"? Maybe just allowed as observation? At any rate, it's doubtful they actually broke through the border fence. It's interesting news, but next time the writers should clarify this.
16. this is a step to far
zionist forever   (07.17.13)
An empty post in the Golan I assume means a post not used anymore but even so once these rebels start seizing guard posts we need to accept that at some point we may have to get involved in this war on a scale bigger than bombing arms convoys. The odd mortar we can handle, its worth it to see all our enemies killing squabbling and killing each other but we cannot let them get to deep into Israeli territory or fire on soldiers and the taking of this post proves there is a growing chance that might soon happen. Ah don't you love budget cuts?
17. to #15
Steve Goodman ,   Israel   (07.17.13)
Tel Faris is well inside the Israeli-Syrian border, and is not "SOME SMALL OBSERVATION POST" to get on this tel you have to get past the "New Fence"

Josh ,   Usa   (07.18.13)
You probably know more then I do since you live in Israel and I'm in States. I've seen pictures that make this wall look huge and massive, but I guess pictures can be selective. My heart goes out to people living on the Golan near the border - yikes.
19. 18. you sound like a bright and nice guy so ...
(07.19.13)
please accept this grammar lesson with the helpful kindness that it is intended. Then: a measurement of time: First this THEN that. He went to the market THEN he went home. Than: a comparison: You probably know more THAN I do. Your apartment is much bigger THAN my apartment.
20. #2-I Agree with Dror.
James McKinlay ,   Israel   (07.22.13)
I live in the Golan and i can hear the shelling every day, once they start crossing the border that's the red line. Its OK for those who live in tel aviv to be pacifists but what will happen when rockets start to fall on them, and the surrounding area ?
