62. THANK YOU, EU.

63. Israel Will Bend Its Knee To World Opinion
World Citizen ,   the world   (07.19.13)
And sooner than any of these tough talking posters on Ynet can imagine. To hear them talk Israel is a lion when in reality it is a mouse. That is why Hamas kicked them out of Lebanon several years ago. They can't fight real soldiers.
64. #6 100% Agree
Barah C. ,   Detroit, USA   (07.19.13)
"Europe is dying, anyway. Why waste energy and effort on a soon-to-be corpse?" Spot on, Sarah! Europe is dead, not as glorious as the United States. I'm just so glad I live in Detroit.

earbug   (07.19.13)
what medical facilities do you need on yam hamelach, just the salt water!! The expenses are paid by Health Insurances of those countries and are not given free. Just imagine the losses in revenue for Israel without all these tourists coming to the Dead Sea-you are not very bright...

The European Union is not boycotting Israel. If that was the case the United States would have intervened. If you are confused about the situation I'll explain it for you. The EU has decided that it will not give aid to the settlements. To ensure that that aid does not reach the settlements the EU has stated that they will not give aid to companies who have links with the settlements. However if you are an Israeli company based behind the greenline in Israel proper your NGO or company can claim European aid in the normal way and it will be considered on merit in the usual manner. If you are a settlement previously exporting goods to the EU you will still be able to as long as it is correctly labelled so that it is charged the correct tarrifs as the settlements are not part of the trade agreements Israel signed when given favoured trading status with the EU. If you want to blame anyone then blame your politicians in Israel who were repeatedly warned that if Israel maintained current practices of mislabelling produce from the settlements then administrative sanctions would have to be made. I hope that has cleared up any confusion, but essentially the EU is not boycotting Israel, merely enforcing agreements Israel signed with the EU

The European Union is not determining the borders of Israel, the EU has constantly stated that they are subject to final status talks between the Israeli and Palestinian people. We know that these final status talks will be based around the greenline of 1967 and that there will be tweaks in these borders to take in the larger settlements, once this is achieved those settlements will be in Israel proper and no longer subject to sanctions. I hope this clears up any confusion on the matter

politicians and all talk backers know there is no EU boycott. It's the game of-whatever wheel of the wagon squeeks the loudest gets the most oil!
69. I don't understand you
Marcel ,   Europe   (07.20.13)
As a European (atheist) jew I simply can't understand why you shout antisemitism as soon as someone criticizes the policies of Israel. I totally agree with these sanctions and believe me, there's no antisemitism behind them, we just simply don't consider those terrorities Israeli (as the wast majority of the countries of the world).
70. Will EU be around in 2014?
Tomer ,   Israel   (07.20.13)
The whole rotten tower of babel may have collapsed by then. See Political Situation in Greece!!!
71. #69. Europe always hated the Jews
Tom W ,   USA   (07.20.13)
The Europeans hated the ghetto Jews for 2000 years. Now that we have a homeland, Europe relentlessly keep coming after us in Asia. Even the Holocaust survivors weren't spared: the British locked them up in concentration camps in Cyprus. The French collected the money but refused to deliver the arms Israel fully paid for. The Americans put an arms embargo against Israel since her inception in '48 and during the '67 war. There is no other rational explanation for the relentless hostility against Israel but the visceral, reflexive emotional hatred. The evil is piously dressed up in simulated "humanist" pontification, but the mass genocide next door is ignored, even condoned. 500 million Europeans primary preoccupation is the "horror" that if the Jews build a house in the desert.

David Israel ,   New York, USA   (07.20.13)
I am also a non religious non believer American of Jewish ethnicity. 1. West bank and Gaza are legally disputed territories. The dispute must end with an mutually agreed treaty between the two sides of the conflict. What most people believe does not make it legal. I too believe that in an agreement West Bank and Gaza must be given to the Palestinian Arab state to be established. 2. Criticizing the policies of Israel may not be anti Semitizm but you must know very well that most people who criticize Israel (especially in Europe France, UK, Belgium, Switzerland being on top of the list) are indeed anti Semites. These also exist here in USA especially in San Francisco and Washington DC Herndon areas.
73. Since the EU has already made its decision,
Harry Wright ,   UK   (07.20.13)
then go ahead and build like crazy before they change their minds. It is a done deed, so you may as well get something out of it. Move the factories out and build endless residential complexes to replace them. Fire all the Bals workers so the EU will have to contribute more to UNWRA for their upkeep. Need skilled labourers? Import from China on contract. They work real fast. Need extra cement? Buy from Egypt.
74. EU boycott of Israel and of Jews is illegal
Cipora Julianna Kohn   (07.20.13)
it is illegal to boycott based on national or religious origin. since the eu does not boycott arabs, it is obvious that the boycott is aimed solely against jews. the wto also prohibits boycotts. the us has laws prohibiting boycotts against Israel.
75. France's Cours de Cassation has ruled
Cipora Julianna Kohn   (07.20.13)
france's cours de cassation, i.e., its highest court, has called not only boycotts, but the calls for boycotts against israel to be illegal, discriminatory, and incitement against a specific nationality. this ruling was upheld by the echr.
76. Israel should withdraw all monies in Europe
Cipora Julianna Kohn   (07.20.13)
israel should withdraw all monies in european banks. given the eu's boycott of israel, it is not far fetched to predict that the eu might freeze israeli assets in the eu. there are safer places for monies than the eu.
77. #1 What oil???
Bob Cassidy   (07.20.13)
And there is a glut of cheap gas in the world-who are you selling it to again?
78. #2
Bob Cassidy   (07.20.13)
You are not the only ones who make pharmaceuticals or know how to do surgery or other medical techniques. Get the silly idea out of your head that the jews are here to save the world. We can actually do better without you!
79. Good - maybe now Israelis will get the better
Barbara ,   Haifa Israel   (07.20.13)
quality fruits and vegetables, instead of it being exported to ungrateful EU countries.
80. #76 Cipora Julianna Kohn
Ivor Evenbiggergun   (07.20.13)
Fully agree. Israel should disengage economically from an area in the world where Israel exports 73% of all that it produces, sacrifice the economic well being of 500,000 'Israelis' most of whom have second passports and who will leave the moment it gets to rough
81. To # 39
Stan ,   Israel   (07.20.13)
What were you saying about no chance of Peace talks beginning ?
82. To # 30
Stan ,   Israel   (07.20.13)
Urban expantion in occupied territory.
83. To # 64 Europe is dyiny?
(07.20.13)
Detroit is dead! The city has just declared bankrupcy. The population has dropped in the last 50 years from 2 million to 700,000 !
84. To #'s 1,2,4,6,7,8,9,13,23,33,33,33,
Stan ,   Israel   (07.20.13)
44,51,55,58,60,71,72 So you all think that the reason for the boycott is Anti-Semitism? Israel, like South Africa will be boycotted for the same reason. Human rights in all its aspects.
85. #80. Ivor: Your hatred clouds your mind
Tom W ,   USA   (07.20.13)
No Jew will go back to Auschwitz, , Hungary and other European country where once they were locked up in cattle cars to be gassed. That's your wishful thinking. Sure, there will always be self-haters who will be ready to collect their award for betraying their brethren: kapos are do exist. The rest will fight as they did from '48 onward. Question: were you ever harmed by the Jews that warrants your incessant 24/7 bottomless gushing hatred on these forums? Care you share it with us?
86.  81.
Birdi ,   Israel   (07.20.13)
Your peace talks have not begun.Once they do begin, you can start jumping for joy. No matter what you think boychick, you cannot compare Israel with your South Africa.
87. 85.
Birdi ,   Israel   (07.20.13)
Way to go, Tom. Kudos.
88. Hey (mouse) @63
KK   (07.20.13)
israel is NOT a mouse HARDLY THAT/. To the contrary SHE IS A ROARING LION. Better believe it ..No wonder the whole world is obsessed with ONLY this supposed (mouse) They admire it enormously and why the any dignitaries from every country come to pay homage to our wonderful Israel. Israel will NEVER bend her knees to any one.(it also applies to our Jewish citizens. We had to bend knees for thousands of years being treated badly mercilessly No more bending to anyone except to our God.
89. Ivor you are wrong:
KK   (07.20.13)
The EU is not the only fish in the sea. We do business with China (matter of fact my nieces husband goes regularly there) Among other countries who are always knocking at the door of Israel knowing how advanced she is.. Just bear that in mind before assuming You've got it in the wrong context in your response to Cipora.
90. Bob Cassidy
(07.21.13)
No one can bit a Jewish brain. Any new invention will not be sold to Europe to copy. You only can hear about it.
