31. Oh, I don't think so
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (07.25.13)
Turkey is overstepping. Did they not demand a United Nations investigation? Yes, they did. Was not the Palmer Commission appointed? Yes, it was. Did not the Palmer Commission conclude that Israel's actions were fully legal and in comportment with exercising its fully legal and internationally recognized blockade of the Gaza Strip? Yes, it did. So now, Turkey wants to undo the decision of the Commission which Turkey itself demanded? Yes, it does. Well, that just is not going to happen. Turkey must learn to live with the outcome of the Commission which it demanded be created. Sorry, Erdogan. You stepped in it; now you have to live with the consequences of your demand. It was the only logical outcome, as anyone with knowledge of international law could have told you. You are responsible for cleaning your shoes. If you use your shirttails, I'm sure no one will notice the additional stench.
32. To: No. 4
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (07.25.13)
The USS LIBERTY was a signals interceptor vessel sent to the Mediterranean when it became clear that Israel was going to enjoy a stunning victory in the Six Day War. The USS LIBERTY was tasked with one -- and ONLY one objective: it was to monitor Israeli military communications, and relay the contents of those communications with the military high commands of both Jordan and Syria -- while Israel was actively engaged in war with both those countries. That is why the USS LIBERTY was blown out of the water. No country would have acted differently. As to Rachel Corrie -- she LIED about her purpose of visiting Israel -- she claimed to be there as a tourist. She lied. She also foolishly tried to interfere with the fully legal acts of the State of Israel. She died as a result. Of course her parents went to court (why not make some money off your foolish dead daughter?; talk about despicable!). The State courts in Washington ruled against the Corrie family. So did the United States District Court for the District of Washington, the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit, and the Supreme Court of the United States denied certiorari. Rachel Corrie was ruled to have died as a result of her own ILLEGAL actions. You aren't the brightest bulb in the chandelier, James, are you? Try screwing in a 10-watt bulb.
33. How Much Compensation is Turkey Paying to Those it Gasses?
Harry ,   NYC, USA   (07.25.13)
Just goes to show that you cannot deal with a terrorist government. Turkey is gassing peaceful protestors in its own country. Israel is paying bribe-money for a justified response to a ship breaking into its territorial waters to break a military blockade. Unbeievable that Turkey is a NATO country. It's a backwards theocracy now - Ataturk is rolling in his grave.
34. Turkey wants to nix the Palmer-report. That's all!
Yael Schlichting ,   currently Munich   (07.25.13)
35. This nonsense can be settled quickly
Cameron ,   USA   (07.25.13)
Simply make it clear to the petty old women crew in Istanbul that they'll not be cut into any of the offshore oil & gas deposits under Israeli control unless this nonsense finally ends.
36. So much for our apology.
A Yid ,   Tel Aviv   (07.25.13)
Obama led Netanyahu into embarrassment and humiliation by convincing him to apologize to Erdogan. What Israel was supposed to gain for the apology remains a mystery.
37. bounce the cheque
Henri ,   CR   (07.25.13)
Infidels must NEVER give into the demands of Islamists !
38. Israel Wrongful Act : Turkey is right
Tarbouche ,   Aswan   (07.25.13)
Israel should not have showed any kind of tolerance at cost to its treasury and soldiers. That was wrongful. It should have blasted Blue Marmara out of the water with one torpedo..
39. Double, double standards
Etienne Prinsloo ,   Nova Scotia Canada   (07.25.13)
The world, of late especially the EU and the UK, have developed a demigod worship of Islam and express it with unqualified support for Palestine where no one can apparently do any wrong. They have plunged Egypt and Libya into a seemingly unresolvable quagmire and endlessly debate around the Syrian genocide. Turkey sees itself as the new leader in the muslim world and massacaring the Kurds is, by the self righteous West, not even frowned upon. But then again was it not England that split Kurdistan up? Israel has a right to exist as much as Turkey or any EU country. Yet this is being denied more and more. Turkey sent the flotilla to Palestine to purposefully cause conflict with many delusional Western lapdogs in tow. The Turks and the EU should clean up their own houses first, but that won't be sensational enough I guess, Israel bashing is currently way too much in fashion. And we all know how people feel about fashion. And what exactly gives the Turks and the EU the right to deny Israel the right to exist; for the EU it' s probarbly just being sheeple with the minority leading the masses along on a self gloryfying crusade.
40. Divert the attention from demonstrations
Mertens ,   Germany   (07.25.13)
It is Erdogan's response to the unrest ,and the legitimate demonstrations in the Türkey.Erdogan continues to try to divert the attention with his Marmara provocation.
41. Turkish Govt
Sherlock Holmes ,   London England   (07.25.13)
The Turkish Govt has its own problems and wants a p.r. boost. The UN found that Israel's blockade was legal and the closed circuit videos show as clear as day that the IDF were attacked and responding to immediate danger. There is a limit to how far Israel can give in to American pressure. Anything more than ex gratia payments would be unreasonable.
42. Apology
Albrecht Klein ,   Germany   (07.25.13)
Dear Turkeys, I am so sorry that you are a desparate bunch of losers. Is that enough of apology for you?
43. wrongful act
jennifer ,   jerusalem, Israel   (07.25.13)
true, a wrongful act by the SHIP, CREW and their VOYAGERS! They should be sued and fined for their actions!
44. Not enough?
Tim ,   Brighton   (07.25.13)
Sorry Enough IS Enough Erdogan seems to be wanting to milk this tragic affair for all its worth into some sort of political stunt Surely surely Turkey and Israel can rise above these childish antics when there are so many issues of concern that demand Turkey and Israel UNITY not DIVISION
45. Nr 10 and 27.
Arn.Sweden. ,   Sweden.   (07.25.13)
One might wonder how many innocents the Turks Murdered in the landtake of what is now Named as Turkey ? Still the Mayority what is todays Turkey, is not of Tukish Mongolian origin. Arn.Sweden.
46. Erdogan is trying to lure Israel into a trap
zionist forever   (07.25.13)
Admitting to wrongdoing will be a trap because so far Israel has agreed to pay about $100,000 compensation each family more as a goodwill gesture rather than for a criminal act. Admitting to wrongdoing turns it into a criminal act by our own admission and thats going to open the government up to millions of dollars worth of law suits. Its also going to limit the kind of operations the IDF can carry out in future because a precedent has been set and there was no wrongdoing anyway. The boarding of the Mavi Mara was legal under the Helsinki Principles which allows for the boarding of a ship in international waters if there is good reason to believe it is trying to breach a legal blockade and the anti Israel UN itself said the blockade was legal. The commandos went to board the ship and were attacked by armed passengers and so they had to defend themselves.
47. #32 I disagree with you on the parents part
ygalg ,   israel   (07.25.13)
even idiots love their children. refrain from using ad hom comments. other than that, rest of your comments were spot on.
48. This again proves that Netanyahu is a whimp.
Jerusalem Jew ,   Jerusalem, Israel   (07.25.13)
Maybe Netanyahu should start thinking before doing everything BHO tells him to do. Netanyahu's concessions are ruining our country and destroy whatever is left of Israel's deterrence. If you constantly show weakness in the Middle East, just like Netanyahu does, we might as well pack our bags and leave all our lands to the arabs. Enough is enough, Netanyahu!
49. Just withdraw the apology and finished!!!
Brett L ,   JHB RSA   (07.25.13)
They will never ever be satisfied!
50. Anton since you mention accountability
David Israel ,   New York, USA   (07.25.13)
What happened to the murderers of 32 Alevis at Madimak hotel on Sivas? They were having weddings with members of AKP invited but they were never found by the police until statute of limitations kicked in and they went free. What will happen to the murderer of Ethem Sarisuluk or Ali from Hatay ? You know that they will walk free with murder in their hands and no accountability. After all Israel was defending what international laws consider a legal blockade and Mavi Marmara was openly violating it.
51. #4 Before criticizing Israel...
Jerusalem Jew ,   Jerusalem, Israel   (07.25.13)
give all your land back to the native Americans and ask them forgiveness for centuries of massacres.
52. shiner of davataglu's shoes is Deputy Turkish Prime Minister
Jewish Doctor ,   AMERICA THE BEAUTIUL   (07.25.13)

anton ,   istanbul   (07.25.13)
i belive we are same side on this,i dont deny akps misconducts or cunnig ways of deception being alevi myself i know alevis wont get fair treatment neither under akp nor under chp, its just a fact we are the jews of turkey in a way do i hav to be right on eveything to be able to criticize israel? whenever one points out your faults its always same approach, one more time david israels bloackade might be legal law wise the problem is murder is not legal nowhee in world not even in israel, if you still dont think israel did noting wrong in that operation then i have noting more to say, btw ill be in izmir soon any place to recommend? :)
54. Obama & Kerry warning
Serge ,   Antwerp, Belgium   (07.25.13)
No one should expect Israeli/Turkish reconciliation under a Erdogan government. But this is is not the main issue. The problem is Obama & Kerry who engineered this failed reconciliation. We should consider this as a case study showing that Obama & Kerry do not know what they are talking about and that their peace plan will eventually have the same fate.
55. Anton #53
David Israel ,   New York, USA   (07.25.13)
Murder and self defense are different. In Mavi Marmara The IDF started the operations using paint guns but they were attacked violently. This is when they used real guns. When you compare it with the many other boats of the flotilla where they surrendered peacefully you can see the huge difference. Also remember that teh founder of IHH Bulent Yildirim was the pro bono (free) lawyer of the Islamist murderers of Turkish Hezbollah. The IDF was forced to use deadly force when attacked by these thugs using deadly spears cut from the deck of the ship. In Izmir for a good doner kebap I recommend Altinkapi near Kibris Sehitleri Caddesi. They make a great doner with butter on it but not healthy. For fish Deniz restoran but it is over priced and do not order Tranca, they give you Lagos instead.

im not seafood person so ill try altinkapı thanks alot for the advice:)
57. #53 Anton. A legal and lawful exercise turned into a rescue
Harry Wright ,   UK   (07.25.13)
...and anything can happen in a rescue. Case in point - Entebbe. The first wave of Israeli forces went in with, of all things, paintball guns - toy guns if you will, because they were not expecting armed opposition. They were incapable of defending themselves from the terrorist IHH who outnumbered them and with their metal pipes and knives, used excessive force against them. A second wave had to go in to rescue them, properly armed and rightly so because shots were fired at them. They were in no position to know how many guns were in the hands of the IHH and they were very vulnerable - one way in, abseiling on a rope, straight into the hands of the enemy. They had to fight the enemy at close quarters. Indeed, they were literally surrounded by their enemies and I am sure they could have smelled their sweat. The details of the well-planned ambush only came came to light after the incident and I shudder to think of the fate of the injured Israelis had they not been rescued by whatever means. I would say too, that Israel handled the matter afterwards in a panicked state because I am sure that if it was properly handled all this stupidness with Erdogan would not be going on today. From my perspective, I CANNOT agree with you. I am sure the outcome would have been vastly different without that rescue and no way can I categorize the fatalities as murder. Perhaps if the Israelis went in with machine guns and shot everyone in sight, maybe. That only 9 terrorists got killed under the circumstance is amazing. I would have opted for the machine gun, YES, because my life is important to me and I will protect myself in a threatening situation.
58. To: Cameron at No. 35
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (07.25.13)
Turkey is not going to be cut into Israel's natural gas and oil wealth.
