Some of the sour comments from failed olim are very depressing. Of course Israel is no Paradise, is any country? I came on aliyah from the UK, which is cold, damp and has lots of antisemitism of both the Muslim and home grown kind, three years ago. Life isn't easy but here I can live openly as a Jew anywhere here which I couldn't in Britain if I didn't want to be attacked verbally or even physically. Would I go back? Not in a thousand years!

So let's have a look at Israel in Wikipedia: Grade of freedom: Free (well done) Economic freedom: Moderatly free Freedom of Press: Noticable problems Democracy Index: Flawed democracy If you look at the democracy ranking of 2012 Israel is two places behind(!) China.
