61. #58 twisted logic
Tahl   (08.07.13)
So you find it understandable that Jews around the world are accountable for Israel's actions with the Palestinians. Using this bizarre and twisted logic, every time a Muslim commits an act of terror against a non-Muslim, then all of the world's Muslims are fair game for retribution. Clearly, this line of reasoning is absurd. You talk about self-hating Jews. Well putting the blame on antisemitic violence worldwide squarely on Israel rather than the perpetrators, is a classic trademark of this kind of Jews.
62. To No. 61
Bertram ,   London, UK   (08.07.13)
Of course, you missed my point because you misread my post for your own purposes. 1. Note that I said the "lives of Israelis" quite specifically, not "Jews around the world", because of the suggested action which would be taken by the Israeli state. 2. Such action, as proposed by Chaim, would not be terrorism, but state murder because it would be execution without a trial. 3. I am definitely not placing the blame for antisemitic violence on Israel rather than the perpetrators. A ridiculous comment. 4. What I am saying is that this particular state action, which would be considered unlawful by all civil nations, carries a predictable risk for Israeli citizens. Why would you want to add fuel to the fire of terrorism?
63. To #62
Tahl   (08.07.13)
OK, I misread your post - but for no "own reasons", but rather an innocent mistake, accidentally switching the word 'Israelis' with 'Jews'. In this context, and following your further clarifications, your post makes more sense and furthermore I tend to agree that execution without a trial is not something the Israeli justice system should adopt. Still, Chaim does have a point. Although Israel does have a death pentalty in its military laws, if we wait for a trial, then with all the motions, petitions, and internal and external pressures, it will never happen. And then ultimately we'll have to release the murderers in a future prisoner swap deal or 'gestures' - and this is completely unacceptable. In order to avoid such a situation, the best idea would be to have an understanding with the IDF, to adopt a take-no-prisoners approach when it comes to murderers - the IDF would execute these savage terrorists quietly, in captivity, before they even reach the court and the media, and no one would stand trial. If someone inquires, the IDF can always say they were killed in action.
64. #53 Ethnic or Religious is irrelevant to Justice system
Shachar ,   Eilat   (08.07.13)
If you do the deed you pay the price, simple as that. I can think of at least 20 Jewish murderers who should have been executed. The word terrorism is used here for anything a Palestinian does to resist the occupation. It is not a legal term and is irrelevant in a court of law. Most so-called terrorists would not face the death penalty. But those involved in suicide bombings of civilian targets or shooting babies sleeping in their beds would face the death penalty.
65. Life without the possibility of parole or release
Jacob E ,   Holon, Israel   (08.07.13)
There are very few situations where I think the death penalty should be used. Any situation where a person kills someone with their own hands rather than shooting a gun. If you are able to murder an unarmed civilian with your hands or put a knife into a human being, there isn't hope for you. Additionally, any killing of any soldier (not in a combat situation), police officer, or similar profession employed by the state. Outside of that, when the sentencing occurs from a judge, they should be given and ordered by the state, "Life without the possibility of parole or release" Specifically state at the sentencing that they will not be traded for any deal for kidnapped victims or demands for any sort of trade. Further more, they should be given the harshest living conditions a prisoner can legally have for the rest of their natural life. And if they want to do a hunger strike, or if they want to find another way to try to make us treat them better, just let them die. As muslims (mostly), suicide is a mortal sin and they will go to hell for it. They can call it being a martyr all the want, someone on the other side will be the judge of it.
66. Martyrs
Danny ,   London England   (08.07.13)
Israel is close to the EU in most respects and therefore bringing back capital punishment will damage relations. On the other hand if suicide bombers somehow survive their bombs I wouldn't rush to save them. They chose to become martyrs, so who are we to interfere?
67. the death penalty
Yoel ,   Israel   (08.08.13)
This should take effect ASAP- no country in the world would let killers go free- this is un heard of kill them as they are caught why wait for a trial, they kill so will we.
68. Executing terrorists is Israel's moral imperative.
Chaim ,   Israel   (08.08.13)
If Israel fails to execute terrorists, Israel is putting the lives of murderous "Palestinian" terrorists above the lives of their innocent victims. This is an absolute obscenity. Israel has a moral imperative to promptly execute terrorists. WE must NOT let them murder again and inspire others to murder our people.
