1. Brooklyn - Israel
Sarah B. ,   U.S.A./Israel   (08.07.13)
Despite living in Brooklyn I have complete confidence in Israeli Justice. If the Rebe did wrong he has to pay according to the law of humans.
2. In the days of Pumpadetha, Gaonim
norbus ,   Jerusalem   (08.07.13)
would have stripped the offender of any authority, publicised his crime, " An Ox Which Gores" for punishment and a deterrent to others Now this criminal who can't control his base urges , brought shame on Religious Zionism which is trying to improve on the rabbinical status quo, into disrepute. He should be condemned and ostracised from any community
3. When did Sarah B. move to Bklyn ? I recall
mr ,   israel   (08.07.13)
she said she lived near Central Park in Manhattan !
4. Surprised?
Rebekah ,   Rishon Lezion/LA   (08.07.13)
The Rabbis and Priests all go into this 'profession' to fool the public into thinking they are 'holy' individuals. 20 years ago, the last person you would accuse of being a pedophile would be a religious leader or a teacher, now its the first. Their love for children is the wrong kind of love.
5. To #1
JL ,   Israel   (08.07.13)
You previously stated that you have been in Brooklyn once in your entire life. You see, your lies are finally catching up to you.
6. This is what happens when men and boys only see and interact
Joseph ,   Israel   (08.07.13)
with men and boys...... Its just not a healthy system.
7. guilty
BG ,   jerusalem Israel   (08.07.13)
Actually I fee sadness rather than the more aggressive reactions above. He has been an inspirational Rabbi for many people over many years and it appears that his personal behaviour has let him down. I am pleased it has come to court and "justice" will be done. It is a shame for the him in particular, for the rabbinate in general and of course for those he has harmed.
8. #2, ease up
Naftush ,   Israel   (08.07.13)
First, the outcome you insist on is pretty much the one that the court has just imposed. Second, he's not an ox; the tractate that discusses the ox rules that people are always susceptible to misconduct. Third, he's a person, not a population group.
9. Kol Hakavod to Takana Forum.
ORA ,   JERUSALEM   (08.07.13)
Religious sexual assaulters should receive the highest existing condemnation for this kind of crime, once the judge is 100% sure of their guilt.Since there is always the possibility of revenge motives.
10. A Rabbi , how estimated he can be as Rabbi
Charles ,   Petach Tikva   (08.07.13)
is also ONLY a Human being who can sometimes have weak moments . Sad ......
11. All lies, he is 100% innocent
Dror ,   Haifa, Israel   (08.07.13)
No doubt they made it all up just to slander him. How can a Rabbi be attracted to young boys and the same sex ? tottaly ridiculous
12. Call the police!
Akiva ,   NYC   (08.07.13)
I must confess. I attended a frum wedding recently where most of the older men kissed the bridegroom and wished him Mazel Tov! Last week I attended a Bar Mitzvah where the grandmothers and great aunts and many other women kissed the Bar Mitzvah boy, who commented, 'Yuck!' I am prepared to accept my civic duty and give evidence as a witness to this sexual abuse.
13. # 6 Joseph, Israel
BUILD BABY BUILD !!! ,   United States   (08.07.13)
the same could be said of Catholic Priests, Muslim Mullah's, "priests' of all faiths, Penn State, Teachers, neighbors, relatives, the Boy Scouts, Congress... In short, wherever there's the opportunity for abuse by pedophiles of which there is no cure. Rabbi's weren't to be substitutes for the "Sons of Aaron', as you remember. Please... KEEP BUILDING !!!
14. Another incident which is pushing me
Haya ,   Bat Yam   (08.07.13)
Hareidim spitting at little girls; women being forced to sit in back of buses; violent Hareidim attacking people they don't agree with; and other incidents are pushing me further and further away from Jewish practice. If these people 'represent Judaism,' I don't want to be associated with it.
15. @11 4shure, that's what the 7th President of Israel said!
(08.07.13)
and you see where that got him.
16. 6Joseph,and what is your explanation
ORA ,   JERUSALEM   (08.07.13)
when the same thing happens in the secular society?
17. #3 mr, Israel
Avi ,   Israel   (08.07.13)
Don't blame Sarah B, blame Alzheimer...
18. Rabbi Moti Elon found guilty of indecent acts?
Mark Schroeder ,   Germany   (08.07.13)
So whats new? If we are to Judge by past behavior of mischievous Rabbi, we see that it is the norm rather than the exception... Jewish haters will start screaming to me about misconduct in the Churh, and I will say to hell with them all...Hang them by the b@lls, be it Rabbis or priests...
19. 14 Haya, Of course, there is nothing..
ORA ,   JERUSALEM   (08.07.13)
in the Secular world that pushes you away from their lifestyle.
20. 10 Charles, Nice comment.
ORA ,   JERUSALEM   (08.07.13)
21. 11 Dror ,Halevai,you are right.
ORA ,   JERUSALEM   (08.07.13)
However,to protect future victims, this has to be investigated very thoroughly.
22. Esteemed Rabbi???
Marco ,   Spain...World Champs   (08.07.13)
I guess that you Jews have invented a new definition for the word 'esteemed'..
23. To #14
Joshua ,   USA   (08.07.13)
Sure takes a whole lot to make you smell the coffee! Look at the example Catholic priests have set of molesting altar boys for hundreds of years. Why do you think that Judaism is any different? After all, religion is the source of just about every evil that inflicts humanity. It incite people against each other in the most vicious and murderous way imaginable! Why would anyone with a shred of decency and dignity want to take part in it is beyond comprehension. The only possible explanation is the human mind's propensity towards delusion. There must be some comfort in being collectively delusional.
24. Hatred of the religious Jew.
michael Pielet ,   israel   (08.07.13)
I prayed in the Rabbi Elon's shul in the early 1990's. My son was Bar Mitzvad in his Shul, Nitzanim in 1990. I believe totally in the Rabbi's complete innocence. There is not a shred of corroborative evidence supporting the conviction. Just another case of hatred of the religious, and a corrupt judiciary.
25. 12 Akiva,taking this incident lightly..
ORA ,   JERUSALEM   (08.07.13)
is ridiculing the eventual victims.
26. # 16 Ora there is a difference
Haim ,   TA   (08.07.13)
Yes Ora, there are sexual predeators in all brances of society thats a fact that nobody disputes. However the differnce is, this so called Rabbi is going around dressed in religious clothing, calling himself a rabbi, preaching to others " i am hollier than thou" and inciting homophobia ( which contributes to the high numbers of gay teenagers commiting suicide as they are made to feel worthless) while at the same time molesting minors, im sure even you can see the hypocracy in that.
27. Loathsome Rabbi brings shame on Jews
Tambour ,   Eilat   (08.07.13)
He should have his semicha revoked and a herem put on him for 5 years
28. 26 Haim,read my post 9,please.
ORA ,   JERUSALEM   (08.07.13)
29. the Orthodox attitude toward homosexuality
bob ,   baltimore   (08.07.13)
In the Orthodox world homosexuality is forbidden unless the perpetrator is a rabbi and the sex object is a yeshiva boy. In such an instance, the orthodox world circles the wagons around the perpetrator to protect him.
30. By 'esteemed' do you mean disgraced?
