1. Erdogan deserves no respect
Steve   (08.29.13)
Obviously Bibi apologized at Obama's behest, and I suppose there were to be certain benefits afforded Israel as the two countries hopefully entered a more peaceful phase. Unfortunately the apology was an exercise in futility as it only emboldened the bellicose Turkish madman to double down on his hate filled anti Israel rhetoric. Seriously, where have I seen that mustache before?
2. "Europe will think twice before declaring another boycott"
Toby ,   UK   (08.29.13)
Unlikely.
3. Better Moves
A Simple Jew ,   Beer Sheva   (08.29.13)
We can do more against the EU than refuse to participate in this program. We can bar the EU from projects on the West Bank. We can seize PA tax receipts in reprisal. We can embargo PA imports and exports. We can impose a counter boycott on PA goods. We can make the EU and the PA the first casualties of this war.
4. Never mind Erdogan, he's Turkey's problem. What's alarming
tom ,   tel aviv   (08.29.13)
is our own PM having been so easily "persuaded" by the hostile Obama to commit this deplorable act of "repentance". It is pointless to write this type of article now: every child knew this would be the result. He (Bibi) then goes on to free more Arab murderers for no particular reason. What is wrong with our leadership?! (an oxymoron, it seems)
5. The only apology should be to Avigdor Lieberman
Tahl   (08.29.13)
He is certainly no saint, yet was the only MK with the balls to stand up those who spit on us and protect Israel's national honor. For this 'crime' he was vilified and crucified by many foreigners and self-hating, backbone-lacking Israelis, who called him to "a bouncer", "an elephant in a china store", "a thug", and "doing a huge damage to Israel". Of course, Lieberman was spot-on with his analysis of how an Israeli apology to Turkey would be interpreted, yet nobody wanted to listen. The real apology should be given to him.
6. 10 points victory. Israel - 1 = yearn to destroy Jews + 1
Calabi ,   Sydney Aust   (08.29.13)
If Israel want to survive as a strong thriving Jewish state never should she says sorry again to terrorism !!! And never try to buy friends through diplomatic appeasement. Appeasement breeds more Jewish left, Appeasement radiate fear and give strength to anti antisemitism, Appeasement helps evil to feels right, Appeasement weaken the Jews, Appeasement means Jews have no right in to be where they are. Ten Point Game score : Israel - 0 = Anti Semitic countries + 1
7. nonsense
homer ,   ny ny   (08.29.13)
What Obama is doing now is an act of weakness. And by trying to repair damages with Turkey and failing also proves Obama is weak.
8. This occurs when you take Obama's "advise
tiki ,   belgium   (08.29.13)
Israel forgets it's principals & raison d'etre to many times lately! It's time to reset the button! Without being right there is no 'raison d'etre for the STATE of Israel. Jews than can live anywhere in the world!
9. Europe boycott??
Adi ,   Alicante, Spain   (08.29.13)
First of all, Turkey is not Europe, at least for now. Any pressure from Israel to Europe on the issue of the occupied territories, Judea and Samaria for you, will not impact at all in Turkey. Second, Israel should not be offended because Europe called for the "boycott" of certain products or companies whose origin is located in the occupied, (ok, "administrated"), territories. On the contrary, Europe is an ally of Israel. The only thing is trying to show, is that they can not continue with the policy on the occupied territories, which is inconceivable for a modern and developed country such as Israel.
10. Hagai Segal: A realistic analyse
Raphael ,   Netanya   (08.29.13)
Of the oriental psychology. Seems Ashkenazim are starting to understrand their environment.
11. Obama & Kerry
Serge ,   Antwerp, Belgium   (08.29.13)
The apology to Turkey shows us that Obama and Kerry cannot be trusted, maybe they mean well but they don't understand. Kerry's negotiations with Israel and the PA will eventually turn like the Turkey issue.
12. What has Horizon 2000 got to do with Turkey and Erdogan?
Shachar ,   Eilat   (08.29.13)
Answer: absolutely nothing. The apology to Erdogan was poor diplomacy. Even rubber-arms Hagai can't get a connection to the settlements, the only thing that interests him.
13. Agree # 3
Beary White ,   Norway   (08.29.13)
Or, last option is to enhance trade with China, a bigger market than the biased EU. In addition China will get a civilized stepping stone near Africa, which is developing just now.
14. Uh, that's because it WAS weakness. Hope lesson learned.
Paqid Yirmeyahu ,   netzarim.co.il   (08.29.13)
15. What is "horizon 2000" People?
Brett L ,   JHB South Africa   (08.29.13)
16. Erdogan does not rethink ...
Nora Tel Aviv   (08.29.13)
He is as stubborn as a mule. International pressure has no effect on him.
17. Sorry but.......
Mike Carmel ,   Rishon le Zion   (08.29.13)
When I saw the title I thought the article might be interesting. But then I noticed who wrote it. Enough said. More of the same irrelevant, myopic, victimization-laden rose-tinted spectacles stuff....... Please give us something a little more intelligent than this rubbish.
18. AND, now we release Demonic evil
paulD ,   Jerusalem   (08.29.13)
from the Jails. There are no secret benefits, no equal gestures from the non-redeemable enemy, just another repulsive act from our spineless, immoral leaders.
19. pressure from a weak Obama and Bibi
benjy   (08.29.13)
wanting to appease him, caused a drastic mistake...an apology to terrorism. Hope this will be a one off, it wasm degrading and disgusting. Apologise to a rat like erdogan and any one who molests Israel. Israel is better than that and I am sure I speak for most of Israel "Erdogan, stick that apology up your butt, it was done under pressure and not from the heart, so counts for zilch you turkey!
20. Has anyone in Israel ever heard of the Armenian massacre?
BAB ,   Jerusalem   (08.29.13)
Was that Israel's fault, or better yet, did it never happen?
21. Gentleman s handshake . Bibi minus a hand
Harvey ,   London   (08.29.13)
What on earth was Bibi thinking when he made this apology . He was back in the Shuk not dealing with a man of his word . This needed to be hammered out in the form of a legally binding document . The apology given on a quid pro quo basis . We apologise in return for a b c and d . No sign , no apology
22. NEVER APOLOGISE FOR DOING WHAT'S
Chris Rettenmoser ,   Bayerisch Gmain Germ   (08.29.13)
RIGHT !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
23. Israel needs a Churchill. Bibi is a Chamberlain.
Chaim ,   Israel   (08.29.13)
Of course, apologizing to Turkey was an act of weakness. So was freeing "Palestinian" mass murderers. So is engaging in phony "peace talks with Palestinians" aimed at turning Israel into a 9 mile wide concentration camps. When has Bibi ever committed an act of strength. Bibi has never met a demand he didn't concede to. Israel needs a Churchill. Bibi is a Chamberlain.
24. Isn't Israel supposed to pay "compensation" to Turkey?
A ,   Belgium   (08.29.13)
The Turkish government knows which part of its collective body they can stick THAT demand in, but does Bibi?
25. I absolutely 100% agree with this article
Mike ,   UK   (08.29.13)
26. seem like
anton ,   istanbul   (08.29.13)

27. Israel's apology cannot be withdrawn?
solomon ,   bklyn   (08.29.13)
Why not!?!?!?
28. Adding insult to injury
Thessalonian ,   Canada   (08.29.13)
The prospective recipients of the so called "compensation" have already publicly pledged on Turkey's on-line and otherwise media to donate the proceeds to the "righteous cause" of Hamas. Regurgitate this one Mr. Netanyahu without getting nauseous... Regards
29. Haggai Segal on Apology
David Sarna ,   Teaneck, NJ USA   (08.29.13)
Shalom from your cousin in the USA. I heartily agree with your comments on Israel's misplaced apology to Turkey. Since Neville Chamberlain speech; "Peace in our time," the world has seen time and again that apology as an act of weakness has terrible consequences. Shabbat shalom.
30. Anton you are correct
David Israel ,   New York, USA   (08.29.13)
It was not sincere. It was forced by the US president so that he could use Erdogan to do the dirty work over Syria. And you will see soon that while EU and USA are taking it slowly, Erdogan will take the lead to attack Syria and get into a big mess. This is International high stake politics. Oh let me ask. How is the exchange rate of TL and USD doing? Any chance it will go back to below 2 TL = 1 USD? How about the Istanbul stock Market? Remember my previous posts on this subject. Your economy grew on a tight rope that can collapse in a wind.
