31. Spineless Israeli arrogance
Shachar ,   Eilat   (09.04.13)
Israel has all the means and plenty of good reasons to destroy Assads chemical weapon stockpiles. They haven't done it, they haven't even complained about their neighbors being gassed just as we were only 68 years ago. We used to say "never again" how hollow and pathetic that sounds today. The author is gutless but tries to hide it behind his arrogance and hutzpah. Obama is the only world leader prepared to take on this sorry situation, the last responsible adult still standing.
32. #4 and #7
JtC ,   Jhb / Nir Eliyahu   (09.04.13)
#4 - Firstly, Israel HAS intervened. It has set its own red lines regarding Iran/Syria?Hezbullah and has ACTUALLY stuck to them. And without declaring it to the entire world either. It wasn't USA that struck the Syrian nuclear reactor, was it? When Saddam was firing scuds at Israeli population centres, wasn't it USA that demanded Israel NOT retaliate? So what's your point again?? #7 - See comment above. Also, wasn't it Israel that brought wounded Syrians over into Israel for medical treatment? I never saw USA do anything like that... You are partially right about USA aiding Israel's military strength and for that it should be grateful. It must be mentioned though, that a certain fighter jet project was put on hold by USA for financial reasons, and restrictions are being put on the F35 jets Israel is planning to acquire from USA. Also, how much technology and know-how has USA benefitted from, directly from Israel? Also, consider the size of USA in area, population, surrounding enemy states, and military might. And how many wars has USA fought where it's survival is at stake?
33. You want Him to send His kids to die? 5000 already dead
miki ,   tampa   (09.04.13)
Whats another thousand or two? Another senseless useless unwinable conflict in the Middle East - sure, why not!
34. syria
david ,   gaithersburg   (09.04.13)
I don't agree with author. There are so many Arab countries, why don't they do something? Why we (US) should waste our $$$ and energy to do their (Arabs) job?
35. How Is This a US Problem?
emanon ,   USA   (09.04.13)
Why should the USA get involved, waste more American money and get more Americans killed? Sure, Asad is an evil person, but is his opposition any better? If the USA is on a campaign against evil people, they shold be launching strikes against the terrorstinia s in Gaza, against the repressive governments in at least half a dozen other countries around the world.

37. His convictions to lead what? The world?
Jacob E ,   Holon, Israel   (09.04.13)
Isn't that the job of the UN? If military action is to be taken in Syria, it needs to be done either by a vote in the UN or by the Arab League. No one else and definitely not the USA acting on their own. Anyone else calling for military action can discuss it with either of those 2 groups or they can shut up and do it themselves. But don't keep talking like the US will be the only country getting involved.
38. Serbia was attacked for a lot less
Tahl   (09.04.13)
I don't recall the Serbs gassing the Kosovars and certainly not butchering 100000 of them. Yet the Serbs were dealt with strongly and decisively, without a single loss of American soldier. Not doing the same with Syria (and for a much better reason), would be nothing short of an extreme double-standard.
39. # 9 Adam BINGO!!
BUILD BABY BUILD !!! ,   United States   (09.04.13)
The Arab League is only there as a 'guide to obama' on twisting ( or trying to twist) Israel's arm. You hit the nail on the head. I still remember "Death to America' and, "Death to Israel", now they want our help?? Let their richer Saudi brothers come to their aid. Oh, that's right, the arabs fight like handicapped girlies. That's why they want to use obama to do their dirty work. If al the muslims disappeared tomorrow, we'd have a peaceful world.... BUILD FASTER !!!
40. Israel?
BUILD BABY BUILD !!! ,   United States   (09.04.13)
Why should israel get involved with Syria's civil war? Jordan, Turkey, Saudi Arabis, UAE, etc. should be defending their Muslim brothers NOT Israel you lunatic. But then, Muslims aren't known as fighters more hit and run terrorists mainly employing their own kids. BUILD FASTER!!!
41. fool at 38.
Jason ,   USA   (09.04.13)
'Forgetting' the genocide at Srebrenica are we?
42. To: No. 35
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (09.04.13)
Clearly, you entirely fail to appreciate the fact that it is the United States that is the target here. Whether it be by the Syrian government, or the dominant "resurgent" forces, all backed by al Qaeda -- rest assured of this one fact. They are terrified of Israel. They are not in the least bit interested in challenging Israel. They KNOW what the outcome will be, and it won't be pleasant for them. On the other hand, the United States is the "Great Satan." Got a bull's-eye painted on your backs. I'll bet the ranch that there are Syrian weapons of mass destruction already present in the United States. Think about it. A teaspoonful of botulin toxin in a reservoir. Sarin gas released in the New York City subway. Smallpox virus released in the Mall of America. The United States has absolutely no idea of what they're facing. Your enemies are the Iranians (Syrian masters), and al Qaeda dominated so-called "resurgents." They're terrified of Israel. They scoff at the United States and its inept administration. Get wise ... or wait for another September 11 to come your way. The choice is yours.
43. # 21 Brian SO, when are you volunteering to fight Syria?
BUILD BABY BUILD !!! ,   United States   (09.04.13)
Like never? Shut the hell up, Israel has no legitimate business fighting Syria. Neither BTW does obama the amateur.. BUILD FASTER!!!!
44. #38 Serbia was a war crime
(09.04.13)
Bill Clinton decided to massacre Orthodox Christians at the behest of Islam, and Russia was too weak to help so he escaped charges for his crimes. There is so much wrong with an Obama attack on Syria, but just ponder on this: an Obama attack on Syria will prove to the world that Iran needs nukes for self-defense.
45. #41 Who's the fool?
Tahl   (09.04.13)
Kind of funny that you call me a "fool" when you write such nonsense. I suggest you'd do yourself a favor and research the topic before commenting and name-calling. The Srbrenica massacre occurred in 1995, in the city of Srbrenica in Bosnia. While ghastly and horrible, it was certainly no 'genocide' as you called it - about 8000 people were massacred (compare that with 100000+ in Syria). The NATO bombing of Serbia had nothing to do with that massacre. It occurred four years later, and came as a result of conflicts with different people (the Kosovars). And if NATO found it necessary to bomb Serbia for that, then Syria should have been bombed ten times over by now.
46. Heck no we gave the Neo-Cons the keys to the
MILK D ,   East Coast/USA   (09.04.13)
to the ride just a few short years ago, what did they do? They drove us right into Iraq......these guys are insane if they think we should give them the car again. that means Rummy, Rove,Feith, the WP editorials et al.....all neo-con men.
47. list of no enemies
2013Peace   (09.05.13)
USA is not the enemy of the Syrian, Iranian, Egyptian, Russian people. Those leaders are the enemies of their own nations. Those nations need a good dose of spine to dump their murderous leaders. The next thing can be peace.
48. There's just 1 problem.....
Belinda ,   Texas, USA   (09.05.13)
Most Americans have a problem striking Syria because we have a problem helping the very people that killed 3000 people in NYC 12 years ago!!!!! The Odumba$$ administration is going to keep this crap up & the US will be in the middle of a revolution that will make the French look like child's play!!!
49. #46. Bush appears great in comparison to Obama.
Chaim ,   Israel   (09.07.13)
By virtually every objective criteria, America was in far better shape under Bush than Obama. Look at unemployment, labor participation, mortgage foreclosure...anything. I'm not implying Bush was a great president. But he does appear great in comparison to Obama.
50. Syria
GalapagoLarry ,   Denver, USA   (09.08.13)
Spineless? Obama and USA? If Turkey and Israel are so nervous about their neighbor, you can get a spine yourselves. Surely with the backing of Qatar and United Emerites, you guys can get the job done. Leave us out of it. Not spineless, we just see it as pointless.
