31. TLV security screening is pathetic
Guy ,   Chicago   (11.22.13)
Overheard in the first security line (a sprawling mess that is itself a huge security liability): Security screener: "Ees eet youw fewst time in Isweel? Traveler: "No, it's my seventh." Screener: "So, youw fest time?" That little twerp and all the others follow the same English script because they barely know enough English to speak. The script's authors evidently assumed that any foreign Jew that knows any Hebrew whatsoever belongs to a congregation (not realizing how much memberships cost), and if a foreign Jew admits to not belonging to a congregation, they get held up. Nice bigotry you got there. I don't feel more secure because some nineteen year-old has corralled hundreds of travelers to ask them canned questions from a script that he barely understands. Almi's experience makes it sound like the security screeners are just guided by bigotry, rather than any detective training or legitimate security concerns. Keep earning that hate, Ben-Gurion Airport - show Israel's true nature to the world.
32. Don't overdo it
Nadja ,   Jerusalem   (11.22.13)
I am an Israeli Arab. I travel to the UK on business a lot and always on El Al. They ask me questions but they are polite but not friendly. At least I know I am safe.
33. Doesn't make sense
Neal ,   Minneapolis USA   (11.22.13)
I can understand the severe screening for an Arab -- sadly necessary -- but for an Israeli who is an Arab and travels frequently? I'd think there'd be enough information about him in the security system computer that he'd not be in the highest-risk category. But more, I'm absolutely baffled that the man was not allowed to carry his wallet and money! What risk do tyhey pose to anyone? And what happened to them? Did they have to go in his checked luggage (always a theft risk), or were they left behind and he was expected to enter France with no identification and no cash? Part of the problem with this story is incomplete reporting -- an editor should have demanded that the reporter answer those questions for the reader or, at the very least, say that the reporter could not obtain that information. Any of the editors in my 43-year news career would have done so.
34. arabs humiliation security checks
jenifer ,   jerusalem, israel   (11.22.13)
this is HIS side of the story! also, If he doesn't want to go through this, let him drive to egypt or jordan or lebanon, and take a flight from there. we're not looking for his business.
35. I have gotten tougher screening and inspection at Miami
Ari ,   Jerusalem   (11.22.13)
Not only that, they inspect and open your bags without your presence open creams and the whole bag becomes a disaster. They make you take of your shoes, belt, laptop etc. In Israel or El Al security they make some questions and dont like funny answers they mean business. Nevertheless they are more relaxed after the questions than in Miami or other american airport, which are now making body screening. I dont take my shoes or belt in BG.
36. Oh no - not the YNet hypocrits again.....
Guess who ?   (11.22.13)
Looks like YNet prefers ElAl jets bombed out of the spy rather than a poor, poor arab being well checked......Never ever is YNet supporting jewish victims of arab Terror as it is supporting false arab victims. I see YNet ( like all leftwing media) as enemies of the jewish state! Dont worry YNet - we will survive you too ! Im not expecting you to publish my comment - lefties are known to be the most intolerant people worldwide. But I'm happy you read it !
37. Once in Chicago
Linichka ,   Gdynia, Poland   (11.22.13)
El Al security people literally made me sweat. I was questioned some 45 minutes, because I am a "type" (Israeli citizen, but obviously non-Jewish). Not enjoyable - but they never once were less than polite and professional. In the end, I was impressed enough to write and post a letter of commendation. It is due to the dedication of these people that El Al has an impressive safety record.
38. not racism
Gershon Reed ,   Be'er Sheva, Israel   (11.22.13)
My brother, an Ashkenazi Jew from Pensylvania, came here at Passover for a visit and got a similar treatment on his return flight at NTBG. He, and his family here, (me and my mother) mind our own business and aren't on anyone's "radar". Its not racism, its luck of the draw and how the security agents are feeling that day. So as far as the Israeli Arab complaining, I say you can cry me a river.
39. No they are not!
Robert ,   Australia   (11.22.13)
Plenty of them are Jewish settlers.
40. #4 Oleg
(11.22.13)
"With all due respect I believe that person in question is decent human being. However unfortunately he belongs to a group of people with high risk of offending." Same argument was used by Hitler...
41. #12What about the terrorists of Guantanamo and Abu Ghreib?
(11.22.13)
42. Israeli Arab undergoes humiliating security check at airport
Elsie. ,   Gush Halav.   (11.22.13)
BG airport has enough equipment to make even the toughest airports green with envy for security checks. I am all for security checks and have gone though them many times, but I truly feel that this time since the man in question has travel many times went overboard, a little education can go a long way with the passenger who is not made to feel that they are "dirt"
43. Thank you El Al thank you Ben Gurion
Harvey ,   London   (11.22.13)
25 years ago , a young Irish woman was due to fly to Israel . She had been living with an Arab for a year and was pregnant by him . He was due to fly with her to Israel so they could marry in east Jerusalem . At the last moment he pulled out informing her he would fly out the next day and that his family would meet her at the airport . She was questioned at the airport and as her story unfolded her luggage was found to contain a bomb which would have taken out the plane . Her erst while husband to be had carefully groomed her for a year , got her pregnant and was prepared to see her and his unborn child die in order to kill Israelis . The girl had been duped by her ' boyfriend ' So spare me the whining as regards inconvenience . It saves lives and if you fit a certain profile which is likely to increase the chances of being a security risk . Tough . It's called cause and effect . No terror , no security measure . I have nothing to hide . I don't worry about being inconvenienced . It's carried out for reasons as described
44. When 2-3 Arabs talk in US, they always
(11.22.13)
discass how to bomb Israel. That is true and everyone knows it. EL-AL should only increase the security at the ports. The Arabs have only one thing in mind, and they talk to each other about killing Jews every day.
45. Lawfare
Igor ,   Germany   (11.22.13)
This article is a part of lawfare against Israel. Scream long and loud enough about "racism" at BG and the Supreme Court will force the security measures to be weaken, so that terrorist have a fair chance.
46. Security before all.
natan ,   Israel   (11.22.13)
47. The Reality is....
Riva ,   Israel   (11.22.13)
that HIS people, both Arabs on the inside and out are responsibility for an enormous about of terrorism ALL AROUND THE WORLD. When they start presenting their "cause" in a respectful and peaceful manner, incidents like these won't happen....but I am sure this is not going to ever happen!
48. Maximum humiliation and arrogance
John ,   Jerusalem   (11.22.13)
One day BG security will reach to maximum humiliation and arrogance and require that a passenger fly without his arm or foot which have to go in the plane's hull to be recovered at destination Hehehe
49. people security more important than pride
Anna M Sedda ,   Rome   (11.22.13)
It is right that for security reasons and for the sake of the passangers,he should do what he was told.. We know that many Arab -palestinians have a double life and in order to damage Israel, might kill innocent people boarding the plane from other Nationalities... I vote this a good step from Israel for the sake of human life...
50. Compencation
Hammer   (11.22.13)
I don't care who was treated good or bad in BG before. THIS case is UGLY. He need to sue BG securuty. Compensation to be paid, Unprofessional guys shoud be fired.
51. #6 Mr White
John ,   Jerusalem   (11.22.13)
