In regrads to the article by Itay Blumenthal he made a serious mistake. Mizrahi does not equal Sepharadic. Mizrahi's are Jews descendant from the Jews of Iraq, Iran, Yemen, Kurdistand, Afghanistan. Sepharadic jews are descendants of Spanish and Portuguese Jews that fled after the inquisition to Holland, France, North Africa, Greece, the Balkans, Western Turkey and most speak Ladino. Ashkenazis descended some from Sepharadic jews of Iberia and some from Jews from Jews of Khazar descent, and some from Jews who immigrated from th eland of Israel to Europe during Roman times. Not being Ashkenazi does not make some one Sepharadic which is equal to Mizrahi. The journalist and many people make this simplification and it's plain wrong. The term Sephardic is generally used to include those Jews from Spain/Portgugal/Bulguria/Turkey/ North Africa/The middle and the far East, etc. The common thread is following the Halacha according to the Rif/Rambam/Beit Yosef/ Chida/Ben Ish Hai/Rav Ovadia and others with a sprinkling of Kabbala. The liturgy is mostly common as well. The overwhelming majority of what are termed Sephardim are in fact Mizrahi. Understand the Rambam was born in Spain but spent most of his life in Egypt, so no pettiness please. Likewise most Ashkenazim are not German which is what the term means. And yes there is racisim and which is why I vote Shas. It is about time other Sephardim come to term with these facts and voted Shas as well instead of trying to paint their skin white and suck up to the Bennett's and Lapid's of this world.

No not really. The Ashkenazi Jews are largely descended from Jews that settled in the Rhineland and then migrated eastward as a result of medieval pogroms. Yiddish is the direct descendant of Middle High German. As for the Khazar theory, the most recent comprehensive genetic study of the Ashkenazi Jews completely collapsed the Khazar theory, though it did show a substantial contribution on the maternal line from Mediterranean Europe.

Not only does this reporter not know the difference between mizrahim and sephardim but he thinks that Eyal Golan, who is loved by ALL israelis ashkenzaim included, is being discriminated against. I've never seen a mizrahi so well liked in Yisrael before

I am sick and tired reading again and again that mizrachi origin people are discriminated.When someone with similar roots is delinquent and commits a crime immediatelly blames the ashkenazi jews. If I am not wrong,Golan is from Marrocan parents who are far from being mizrachi jews.And most of real mizrachi jews are far from being sephardic,as they usually claim. It was good to read both of your posts about the origins and some history of Mizrahi & Ashkenazi Jews...Each and every Jewish Family has their own unique history, very special to them..But the subject point here is Eyal Golan...Who could have immagined, that this charming, talanted man, an icon with so much potential, will bring such shame to his country and to our whole Nation...Racial bias ?
