to Israeli people and to all relatives and friends of Ariel Sharon. He could be less tough, and less violent, but "war is war", and he has ever been a loyal Soldier. Surely, God Almighty will forgive his sins and will give him the eternal life under His infinite glory.

mea   (01.11.14)
"G-d hates the arrogant " Buy a mirror. Gaze into it. Squint if you have to. You are a example of the classless, arrogant idiots we are all weary of. It is your ignorance and your arrogance that will finally bring the day when you are no longer costing the lives of the truly brave who are the only reason you are where you are. Ungrateful ass!

38. Read the NYT first page, shame on ynet
Ehud   (01.11.14)
Unlike ynetnews - which used the word 'controversial' in its opening sentence - even the nyt managed to print a balanced and appropriate obituary without The need to call Sharon 'a controversial PM'. Why does an Israeli paper have to call a duly elected PM a 'controversial' PM? Is this just semantic sloppiness (no one contested the election result, only challenged his views)? Who was a non-controversial PM in ynet's view? Is there such thing except for those who claim to have 99% of the population behind them (Bashar Assad)?

We saw who attended Nelson Mandela's funeral we will see who attends Sharon's.

Very true. Israel saved a huge amount of amunition while he was absent. We saw who attended Nelson Mandela's funeral we'll wait and see who attends Sharon's

That serves to prove that he was a great general, a great warrior and a great leader. Thank you for proving he did his job well.
42. Rest in peace Ariel Sharon
Rita ,   Wisconsin, US   (01.11.14)
Rest in Peace Ariel Sharon, you were a valiant warrior to the end. The lights in Israel will shine a little dimmer with your passing. May Ha'Shem bless you & keep you. Shalom.
43. A brilliant commander, the embodiment of a Sabra. RIP
Michael ,   California, USA   (01.11.14)
Ariel Sharon was the Maccabi of the modern era, a true Israeli -- fierce and independent, free from complexes of the long diaspora of his predecessors. He was always at the right post at the right time in his service to his Nation of Israel. He will be greatly missed and his legacy of a distinguished Sabra will stay with us forever. Rest in peace, our commander!
44. The Lion of Judah will live forever, beloved of HaShem.
Rivkah   (01.11.14)
Israel has shown the world the Scripture definition of death: WHEN THE SPIRIT DEPARTS FROM THE BODY. Until then, the person is alive.

49. Some loved him. Some hates him, both Arabs and Jews
Jim Yakamoto ,   My Country   (01.11.14)
However, Ariel Sharon was a leader, like Ben Gurion, Golda, Begin and Rabin. A man who took decisions and never bowed to pressure from within or without even though they might enrage some people both of the left and particularly on the right. The Arab world calls him, even to this day, a "war criminal". Well, if he was one then he is in very good company: Churchill and Roosevelt over the fire bombing of German cities, Johnson over the carpet bombing of Vietnam, George W. Bush and Tony Blair over the "illegal" war against Iraq and Obama and Cameron over the killings of civilians in Afghanistan to this day. The fact is that the "victor" is never branded a war criminal unless he is A JEW, fighting for the survival of Israel against an enemy of criminals who kill their own people, use children as human shields, store and fire missiles from residential areas and peoples' homes and butcher school teachers and children, blow up buses, clubs, restaurants and shopping malls and murder families while they sleep in heinous acts of terror. May he rest in Peace and may Prime Minister Netanyahu have the courage to to make the right decisions to do what is best for the the State of Israel, on BOTH sides of the "Green Lines".
50. RIP my General Arik
Dov ben David ,   Eilat, Israel   (01.11.14)
51. Arik, King of Israel
Nils von der Heyde ,   Hamburg, Germany   (01.11.14)
What ever he has done wrong in his military and poitical life - he's been Israels greatest and bravest soldier. And one of Israels most important Leaders. On January 10, 1984 he had granted me an interview at his famous Sycamore ranch in the Negev. He spoke polite, calm and straight. He offered Red Wine in tea cups! Because his wife should not spot that we had alkohol in the early afternoon. The printed headline of this interview was: "From the Field Marshall to the Mashall of fields". Rest in peace, Sir.
52. Arik Sharon eulogy
Al. ,   Shlomi   (01.11.14)
Irrespective of reasons, it is a fact in equity that, Sharon’s lone initiative during the Yom Kippur war, determined whether the State of Israel shall in future exist or not. As such, had it not been for this resource, it is doubtful whether any of us would be living in a Jewish State today, to criticize, scold or sit on the proverbial Fence whenever the name ‘Arik Sharon’ arises!
53. a soldier, a lawyer, a leader. we jews will always love him.

Rest in Peace Hero
56. A true Jewish hero
Frank ,   Holland   (01.11.14)
A true Jewish Hero passed away. A giant like David ben Gurion and Menachem Begin. May you rest in peace until the mosschiach arrives.
57. HaShem showed me "Old Glory" wrapped around Arik's shoulders
Rivkah   (01.11.14)
which tells me he is mourned greatly in the USA as if he were a symbol not only of Israel but also of the US. Like General MacArthur who was more loved in Japan than in the US, Arik Sharon is more beloved in the US than in Israel.
58. Ariel Sharon, for eternity
CJK   (01.11.14)
he was a lover of the land of israel, of the jewish people, and he fought for this land and for this people brilliantly, unflinchingly, and with immense pride. ariel sharon never let the nations of this world humiliate the jewish state. today, when presidents choke on his name and find it nearly impossible to say good about him, we, who mourn him sincerely, pray for his eternal soul and say: baruch dayan emet.
59. One of a kind!!!! LEGEND!!! RIP Aba.
Tony ,   USA   (01.11.14)
60. The Leader the arabs feared
Dan ,   olyphant   (01.11.14)
Through his bravery, thousands of lives were saved. Peace is only obtainable with leaders that have the respect of their people and the strength and courage to bring it through.
