Only a Few Dozen Show Up for Sharon Burial Organizers expected thousands to arrive but the buses have remained empty. Two hours before Ariel Sharon was scheduled to be buried, the large crowd expected at the funeral ceremony had not materialized. Only a few dozen people had showed up at Havat Hashikmim – Sycamore Ranch – in the Negev, where the legendary general and former prime minister was to be laid to rest, reported Maariv-NRG. The civilians who came to pay their last respects were far outnumbered by hundreds of police and ushers at Givat Hakalaniyot, where Sharon will be laid to rest next to his late wife, Lily. Organizers even gave instructions to some of the people employed at the funeral to take part in the event as if they were regular members of the crowd, so as to honor the occasion with a more respectable showing. The reasons for the surprisingly poor showing are not known, but two likely causes come to mind: one, Sharon has been in a vegetative state for eight long years, and his death does not have the same effect on people that it would have otherwise had. The other possible reason is that Sharon’s greatest fans, the Israeli nationalists, were bitterly disappointed by his decision to uproot the communities of Gaza and northern Samaria in 2005. On the other hand, the people on the left wing who applauded him for this action never liked him, and the Disengagement did not make them like him.
3. Why do they make non-Jews wear kippot?? I'm a Jew and......
Shimon ,   Israel   (01.13.14)
I think it is unnecessary and very strange. Here Blair has this huge black one and Bibi's is so small you can't hardly even see it. And he hides it on the back so in pictures from the front nobody can see it. Weird.

those evacuated since Gaza is a city of destruction to HaShem like Sodom and Gomorrah. Read the book of Zephaniah in the Holy Scriptures to see what HaShem will do to Gaza. No one will survive in Gaza. No one. When that happens by fire from heaven or tsunami or however the Lord accomplishes that or both (fire and flood), then the greatness of Ariel Sharon in politics as well as in war will be fully comprehended. A multitude of angels and HaShem Himself were at the funeral since it is in that realm that Ariel Sharon is fully appreciated, not on earth. His sons knew the protection of Israel that Ariel Sharon being alive gave to the nation. Chaim Sheba Medical Center's great Medical Director Zeev Rotstein whose staff kept Ariel Sharon alive after the mistakes of Hadassah physicians, is a great gift to the Sharon family and to Israel. He needs to be promoted to General in the IDF. Truly a great man reflecting the Great Physician aspect of HaShem';s nature. Gilad Sharon almost lost it at the Knesset ceremony, but Omri Sharon unflinchingly went through the ordeal of seeing their father honored and buried. Both are great sons, the greatest love I have ever known for sons for a father, being with Arik daily except for Shabbat, loving him and understanding the spirit is awake and understanding of what is said and done 24/7.

Rivkah..I wish I could hug you after reading your post...I know the angles and HaShem were there today and all the studpid talks about wearing kipah or not and how Sara looked is so silly....My heart is still crying for my hero Arik..I will always remember and love him

I had the same thoughts a few years ago. I believe that Gaza is doomed to experience some natural / non-natural phenomena that will explain the removal of 10,000 Jews. I believe the devravity that did go on there ( recall the murder of a mother and her 5 daughters ...,etc... The list is long) and that continues to this day, will come home to roost. We saw it in Syria, and will see it in Gaza.
9. Arik, the great savior of Israel!
Benny ,   Iran   (01.13.14)
Arik is to be blessed by all the righteous people and the Jewish world for the great personal sacrifices to keep Israel alive & well forever. He encircled the Egyptian Army & saved countless Israeli lives; He activated the fences to keep suicide bombers away from Israel. He was no less than King David. Malakh!
10. Gaza bombing Israel is a poke in the eye..
Al   (01.13.14)
In effect the Arabs are telling you, there will never be peace with them. As for Sharon's supposed legacy the irony of the Arabs bombing Israel from Gaza on the very day of his funeral speaks loudly how Sharon's misguided adventure in withdrawing from Gaza had been a disaster. His legacy is shattered. He is vilified by the very people who he purported to defend. IE The Israeli people. A sad spectacle indeed.
11. President Shimon Peres: Please pardon Omri Sharon.

12. #3, just a sign of respect
Ralph ,   Rome   (01.13.14)
I think it started in synagogues, where it is customary for non-Jews to wear a kippah, but no tallit. Likewise, if a non-Christian male goes to a Christian ceremony, or a church, it is customary for him to remove the hat, also as a sign of respect. (PS Jews should not go to churches, according to the halacha)

If you want to inject botulin toxin in your face, go right ahead. It's not something that most normal people would do, however, so you should probably not go around recommending it for others. Unless, of course, you happen to be an expert on migraine headaches or a dermatologist. Neither being likely ....

I'm sure no one was forced to wear a Kippah. They did it of their own accord.

20. 7,8,13 (Me here, Rick, and Sarah):
Rivkah   (01.13.14)
Thank you for seeing the truth about Gaza from HaShem's standpoint. My heart cries for Ariel Sharon, too, since he gave his love which was HaShem's love through him that the women of Israel and visitors felt tangibly like a blessing. I hope the men and children of Israel felt that glow of his love for them, too. The angry eyes of Sara Netanyahu are not her fault any more than the angry eyes people have told me my face reflects. It is genetics but there are helps to ease the harsh look and Botox injections is one but certainly not the only way toward resolution and a more friendly appearance. Bringing that to her attention is not an insult but a hopeful suggestion that I myself need if I could afford Botox which I cannot. So my angry look has to remain, scaring people away who don't want to know someone with angry eyes like I have.
