The fact that this fleet could be destroyed by the US coast guard in 15 minutes is irrelevant. The fact that they have no interest (like keeping sea lanes open) near US is irrelevant. The Iranians want to increase the size of their submarine fleet and they think if they send warships the US will help them Its Israel that does need to worry because its navy has been neglected for decades with most the ships approaching the end of their service life or are being retired and not replaced. Iran and many arab navies including Egypt which is on Israels front door have bigger and more powerful navies than Israel and the region is more unstable now than it has been in decades & the navy is being asked to carry out more tasks than ever.
