62. Palestinian East Jerusalem
Sammy ,   Newcastle   (02.19.14)
There is absolutely no reason why we need to stick to the name Jerusalem when virtually all Arabic Speaking Palestinians say Al Quds. My children say Al Quds, most Muslims around the world say Al Quds As well - Ramallah serves perfectly well now as the State Capital so why move it to East Jerusalem? Al Quds can then become a new City that grows from the Palestinian Roots of East Jerusalem without the burden and responsibilities of becoming the State Capital

64. Israel needs to do what's best for Israel
Walter Radunsky ,   New York, US   (04.27.14)
It's a difficult and complicated situation, but ultimately Israel needs to do what's best for it's country and it's people, not what other countries want Israel to do. Like most countries, the U.S. is an ally to many, but a friend to no one (a reality of international politics). And while I may not be an expert on these matters, I think that arguments advocating division over solidarity are questionable, as they rarely have the interests of the people at heart. The Haredi and secular Jewish population are both Israeli Jews and can, and do, manage to live together. And Jerusalem already has been a "holy city" for over 2,000 years. Yet it requires secular people and institutions to sustain itself in the modern world. Both sides need each other, one for the preservation of identity and spirituality, and the other for survival, neither of which people can live without.
