31. Will be a Slow Process
Zechariah   (03.02.14)
Clearly the Haredim have Fixed beliefs re serving as a general rule and it will take Decades to get some to volunteer .Fortunately Chabad is not against Serving but Criminal sanctions are Callous .Certainly IDF wages need increase twice inflation and more for those who serve in combat units or serve longer than a few years .Chabbadniks going into the army can educate the secular emphasising the Humanitarian and Soulful Aspects of Judaism .
32. short-sighted rabbis
alexi   (03.02.14)
all able bodied haredi have to go into idf for several reasons that are obvious: 1) to develop their self defense skills, to contribute to the state defense 2) to spend several hours a day practising martial arts;the rest of the day they can study. Praying did not help 6 million alone. actions had to be taken. 3)all jews are israel. haredi in jerusalem, paris, amsterdam have to walk upright with confidence and be able to fight in case of attack instead of running first to the authoritires. The idea of humbling a nd raising phsical nerds who have no idea and who loathe combat is ridiculous and actyuallly finds favour iwth livni, herzog, gal on, yechaimovitch, olmert and peres who are all cowards of the first order. Now if in truth, which i strongly doubt that god mandated only study and no physical work, then with respect, god, you erred. Now god never wrote torah, you guys wrote. get the hell into the gym now and that's an order. and bibi, show some guts and do not sign any framework. You are as much a psychologicall coward as levi of haaretz and the haredi.
33. a very simle solution....
les ,   canada   (03.02.14)
until they refuse to give anything to the state, the state must reuse to give ANYTHING to them. if they wan to leave israel, i am sure "a whole lots of countries" love to have, and support them :))
34. No Arabs Could Ever Damage Israel As Much as the Haredim
meir elazar   (03.02.14)
There are the worst of the worst and the continuation of the Israelite who plagued Moshe throughout the 40 years in the desert until Moshe could not longer take them and lost his patience and hit the rock. He yells at them in Bamidbar chapter 20. "Atem HaMorim".
35. Not sure
Abe ,   USA   (03.02.14)
I don't know what it is but I love these haredim. Whenever the grand Rabbi says something there is great unity and respect for their leader(s). That is one thing the secular will never have.
36. Not fair
Dan ,   Las Vegas   (03.02.14)
Why should only secular be expected to risk their lives for Israel?
37. Israel and the haredi Jews
Harold ,   USA   (03.02.14)
An apple can be damaged by its own worms.
38. They want secular to pick up the thrash.
Michael ,   California, USA   (03.02.14)
Also, the secular people are the gun powder to them, people who will fight the enemies at country's borders and die in wars. How long will Israel go on tolerating them?
39. #2 It wasn't a day off
Yehudit Rouzaud ,   Ramat Beit Shemesh A   (03.02.14)
That's why it was scheduled so late in the day. To avoid having to miss a day learning.
40. Who is going to protect them when .....
Arnold-Canada ,   Montreal   (03.02.14)
the "goyim" as they so call everyone except themselves come to kill them?
41. Response to #3
Baruch ,   Jerusalem, Israel   (03.02.14)
Maurice: You sound like a self-hating Jew. A Torah-observant Jew loves his fellow Jew like himself. There was tremendous unity among Torah-observant Jews on the streets of Jerusalem today. If you don't respect yourself, why should others respect you? Your last statement is both insidious in addition to inaccurate: YOUR taxes (Englishman)?
42. Haredi refusal to defend the country
steve a ,   manchester England   (03.02.14)
So, it it ok for my grandchildren ,who are just as devout as any of the haredim ( although does that matter ? ) to serve and defend Israel including these parasites who are a drain on the state ?
43. A Black (no pun intended) day in Jerusalem.
Ira G. ,   Ra'anana   (03.02.14)
I always had respect for religion and Yiddishkeit. In Israel the Rabbinate and the Haredim have succeeded in fermenting a disgust when I see these parasites. I finally understand why my father hated them so much in Poland before the war.
44. Shameless
arielush ,   ramat ha golan   (03.02.14)
Have they no shame? These people don't work. They are supported by the State. They're great at taking but can't give. Who needs them?
45. Hashems soldiers
Moshe ,   Stamford Hill   (03.02.14)
300, 000 of hashems soldiers marching to battle, it makes me cry with joy. Look at the wives with their shietals and kids in tow. I wish I was there.
46. Wow
Jewish Patriot ,   Galut   (03.02.14)
Wow, do they really think, they can achieve their goals if they protest and turn agressive? Just because they do not like something? They can do anything, but law should apply to all other citizens except them? Draft them all! They can be religious, hving their rights to be that, but equality is based on many things, just like army service, and tax paying. I'm sad to see, how haredim make violence, we have so many enemies outside Israel, we do not need an inside one either. There were many great religious Jewish army leaders, warriors , etc, religion is just an excuse for them, not to serve
47. Wy can't the haradeem wash the floors and clean the toilets
A ,   Belgium   (03.02.14)
in hospitals if they don't want to defend the country that feeds them ("neetsoel nefesh", right?) Why can't they serve food or wash dishes in a senior home? ANYTHING, besides mumbling to themselves believing that God made them better than the poor Jew who drives a taxi 18 hours a day in order to pay his bills and send his kids to school, and on top of it, be a soldier one month out of the year away from his/her family defending these parasites? Or the so called "hilltop youth" who believe in the same God but are willing to endanger their lives defending the country that the haredeem so take advantage of living in? Army service, public service, or no funds, haredeem are no different from arabs when it comes to defending the country that they live in, and in some cases, they are worse.
48. Charedi flock
observer 13 ,   Toronto   (03.02.14)
Look like penguins, with matching brains. Just follow the flock.
49. give god more credit
Steve   (03.02.14)
So the Haradim believe that they were created by god for no other reason but to bow and scrape before him. I somehow doubt that the creator of the universe, the ultimate architect and craftsman, a very industrious entity, would be so needy for adulation as to require large segments of a society to be his full time cheerleaders to the exclusion of all other meaningful activities. Look, nobody in their right mind could fore see how Ben Gurion's generous edict would mutate to create a subculture of parasitic Torah fetishists who pervert its content. It is not theirs, they do not own it, they are not its guardians, in fact they clearly do not even understand its meaning.
50. Poor excuse for "Men"
ASTRONAUT ,   SC, USA   (03.02.14)
Haredi "men" both in Israel and USA are gutless when it comes to beating our enemies and defending Judaism and Eretz Yisrael; yet they have no misgivings about beating their wives and children.
51. Solovitz you hypocrite
tilec ,   israel   (03.02.14)
Solovitz from LONDON, we don't need you to tell us where to spend our taxes, none of your taxes goes to Israel, thats why we despise you.
52. The Ultra-Orthodox are Anti-Zionist pacifists
Moe Ginsburg   (03.03.14)
The Ultra-Orthodox are pacifists very opposed to war. They've opposed the War of Independence in '48 and every war since. They've been opposed to Zionism long before the State of Israel came into existence in '48 and have remained so ever since. And despite continuing to live in the country after it changed from Palestine to Israel in '48 they are vocally in support of Israel giving land to the Arabs for peace. The Ultra-Orthodox are conscientious objectors to war in Israel much like the Amish in America - who also are exempt from the U.S. draft and when there is a draft the U.S. Selective Service exempts them from serving.
53. 14 dong.in just 1 of the neighborhoods
J.K. ,   Brooklyn USA   (03.03.14)
in Vilna,Mir,Volojhin,Krackow,Lublin, there was more Torah than in Jerusalem Bene berak, combined, because those Jews studied Torah Leshmah, not to hide from the draft,or to make a living, still, hshem did not save them from the German killers, the reason is,hashem saves only people who live in their own country with a strong Army,(look what happened to the Armenians) historically,Jews violated hashem's 11th commandment,DON'T RELY ON ME.
54. The weather
Taxpayer ,   Hod Hasharon   (03.03.14)
Yesterday the land of Israel was covered by a dense layer of sand filled air - which severely reduced visibility - as if G-d wished to shield his eyes from the abomination in Jerusalemm by people who have the temerity to speak in his name, whilst defiling it by turning prayers into political protests, as they demonstrate to the public at large that all of the money that is extorted to pay for their parasitic lifestyle is wasted because they do not understand the basic tenets of Judaism.
55. temple
daryl ,   tn   (03.03.14)
why not go up on the temple mount
56. 300,000 Man protest, 03-03-2014
Jose Trujillo ,   Southington, USA   (03.04.14)
Shalom my dear brothers, It pains me to see you in turmoil, as not only the anti Jew retoric and violent actions from your surounding nations continue their unGodly path to subdue and destroy you. In view of the foreign attacks, It is presently a time for Israel to become even more united in thought and action under YHVH. Remember the Torah, as it was at the time of Yoshua. The Arc of the covenant ( Now represented by the Torah ) was carried into the promised land by the Levites. They who were the keepers of the LAW of GOD, went into battle FIRST. You who are keepers of the Torah, and who presently are to be the symbol of unity under God, must lead the people so as to encourage the soldiers Soul, so as to give them peace and strenght through knowledge that YHWH is their God and King who fights for them in ANY and ALL battles. Being that you are already in the Promised Land, surrounded by those who want to destroy you at any cost. It is necessary to unite in servitude to one another, for Israels sake. The Levites served without shedding blood, so take your positions as Keepers of the Law by blessing each Israely soldier, each one by taking a job to maintain, repair, supply, feed, and be keepers of the logistics. Such as the Levites did in performing logistical functions for the Arc and Portable Temple, during the battles to gain the Promised Land. Keepers of the LAW, be of good courage, for YHWH/ our God is with you always. With your messiah's love, your brother Jose. Call on me via the knesset, and I will come to battle for you under the IDF. Shalom, Shalom.
57. Being there does not mean you are not lost.
Joe ,   Southington, CT.   (03.05.14)
Dong, Wish I was there too, been ther to kis the torah though. Yes, God does protect the people and the Land, but he also expects us to take some part in caring for the countrymen. Otherwise what good is man? If not getting dirty means not lifting a finger to feed the soldiers or care for them by giving them even moral support, then, we are no better than a wooden statue. Read the Torah, and apply your knowledge. Don't spin your wheels learning but failing to meet the rubber to the road, and going forward. Share the load, so that the country will not collapse under the sins of the world. Put the Torah in your mind and in your heart, then with GOD before you, you can subdue evil. With love seek all information about the Messiah in the Torah, then ask HIM to reveal Himself to you.
58. Paifullll Heredi
Joe ,   Southington, Ct   (03.05.14)
Steve, I saw your comment on YNet, but I want to remind you that not all see the Jew as a Pain in the rear. As Christians are concerned, it is their stuborness that has kept the word of GOD as accurate through the ages as it can be. We owe our LORD, to the Jewish state, and without then, we would have no opportunity to enter the kingdom of Heaven. As much as they are stuborn and difficult. We have no choice but to love them.
59. Crybabies
Joe ,   Southington, CT   (03.05.14)
David, Be gentle. They are our brothers, and although they are wrong we have to Thank GOD for them. I agree with the crybaby issue but read article 56.
